**HEADPHONE WARNINGS FOR SURE**

Oh wow, so this movie! Haha, I definitely get the "mixed bag" reception I'd heard from a lot of commenters on it. On the one hand, there are definitely plot elements I find intriguing and the plot twist was REALLY fun!

But then, there are...moments...that I'm hoping you'll fangirl and laugh along with me about; Sizhui is adorkable as always, but there's something...off...about our cinnamon roll zombie-- err, puppet. But we can talk about it! One thing's for certain: I am NOT a fan of horror movies...or jump scares! :P

I can't believe we're already through the movies! Next Week: SONG REACTIONS! WOO!

Ok, so I’m just gonna comment whatever comes to mind, so it won’t be coherent, I apologize🥺 I will also be answering some of your questions at random soooo again, sorry if it’s jumping all over the place😂 GOOOOOD YUBIN WAS SO GOOD HERE!!! The fact that we were able to chat with Yubin about this in the Discord was so cool, too—jdjdhskcnf Because the producers KNEW that Wen Ning was comedy relief in the canon, they, and Yubin himself, wanted to see Ning in a more serious light. They wanted to emphasize that Wen Ning is NOT JUST comedy relief, he is his own person. They emphasize it more during that scene with “Wuxian”. They want to tell the audience that Wen Ning is more than a puppet, more than a fierce corpse, and more than the awkward funny character. And yes, this is exactly after they part ways with Wangxian. Supposedly, this is supposed to be after Sizhui and he part ways in Qishan, after they set up a shrine for the Wen remnants. Yeah, it’s the hair and makeup. They wanted Ning to look serious here rather than the gentle general we know. WRONG TRANSLATION😤 “Qianbei” is not “brother”. It’s “Senior”, in the context of martial arts. Brother is “gege”, “ge”, “xiong”, “xiongzhang”, and “shixiong”(this one is only used among fellow disciples) It’s a different technique. The tunes are both different from Inquiry. It’s like they melded Inquiry and Empathy together. This comment is shorter, cause I also hate horror movies so I could not concentrate and kept closing my eyes😂 But anyway, the way they spun the narrative in this was amazing. It still had the same elements of mystery-solving as The Untamed, all the while establishing the main side characters as their own individual person. I really loved how they emphasize on Ning’s importance and how the movie established that Wuxian doesn’t see Ning as an object but as a person still. Also, Xiao Zhan was shooting something else when this was being shot, so no😂, they couldn’t get Zhan for this shot. But, yes, they DID get Wuxian’s VA for this—the very same one. GOD they made Ning SO BADASS IN THIS! HE WAS SO COOL! And Yubin was so happy to show a cooler side to Ning as well. I actually felt bad for Zhao Yi here. At the end I did feel sorry for him, just a tiny bit. That green screen tho😂😂 Ok, I love Ning’s humor in this. They didn’t make it out in the open like they did in the Untamed. His humor here was dry and it was BEAUTIFUL. Like…just full on deadpan, straight to the point. No comedic BGM, no obviously funny shots. Just…it hits when you least expect. AAHHHHH IM SO EXCITED FOR NEXT WEEK! The songs are gonna make you cry🥲 Also, HOB is coming, IM SO EXCITEDDDD!😆 this is gonna so fun!🥰

Yesss, uncle-nephew bonding! That makes sense that this movie portrays Ning in a more serious light! I do like his acting throughout and he definitely stands on his own in this movie! That is good to know about the makeup and hair, too; thanks for letting me know, and about the mistranslation!! I wondered if it was a melding in between inquiry and empathy – and yesss, horror movies are NOT my friend! @_@ NOPE. What I DO like is that they made this mystery have a surprise twist! I liked that a lot and it felt MDZS to me, more so than the “bad guy battle” at the end. Ahhh, that makes sense about Zhan being filming elsewhere; at least they got his VA back! At least Ning gets a badass scene at the end. His humor also works well at the end, here. 😊 Overall, it was a fun watch and I was pleasantly surprised with it!
