The mysticism of Ymir Fritz is intriguing, as is the discussion of how to "help" Eren, as debated by his closest friends and Onyonkopon...Eren is "seemingly" cornered, but there's no way. Something is happening, and while I don't know exactly WHAT yet...I am nervous as all get out. And it's only the FIRST EPISODE of the season. Hm.

General Magath: "Marley's Shield isn't easily broken!" But, didn't we all see the first half of this season of Reiner emotionally broken and wanting to off himself? 😢 When Yelena was pleading Eren to retreat, I kept thinking of Eren (being his usual emo angsty toxic self) doing his internal self-reflection, "Screw that, I'm a MAN. I'm not gonna listen to a woman." as he moves out. Typical Eren! 😂 And lastly, for all of Isayama's lesson about genocide, empathy, and understanding between everyone regardless of ancestry, the optics of us seeing the ignorant country bumpkin assault the token black man and bring him to his knees appears abit problematic. 😲

I agree Eren doesn't give af about Yelena's opinion, but when did Eren ever show himself to be sexist? Also, I give Isayama props for not being afraid to treat Onyankopon like any other character. His race doesn't matter, he's just a person like anyone else. That's pretty much the point of the whole story.

I see what Eren said about Reiner as more of a compliment than an insult, if somewhat backhanded. "Only you could have convinced Marley to do something so stupid." He's giving props to Reiner's ability to sway others, even the nation who sees him as inferior.

Akuma no Ko - A Child of Evil’ When I first watched the ED I was instantly blown away by it. The second time I watched I immediately burst into tears. And each time I listen to it and and watch it leaves me with a lump in my throat. It may be still recency bias but this is without a doubt my favourite ED. For soo many reasons (some I can’t really say for REASONS) but just in general the song is gorgeous and I STRONGLY urge you to find the lyrics! It’s basically Eren’s song through and through which make sense as we finally get an Eren focused ED. Whoever wrote it truly understands Eren’s soul. Also there is one line in particular that kinda makes me cry any time I think about it. The way this ED parallels Mikasa’s ED like you noted and their shared journey and bond is just *chefs kiss* and the way the scarf turns into the ‘wings of freedom’ and tries to escape the birdcage … well that really is the story of attack on titan. Like I said I strongly recommend watching it with lyrics as it gives context to the imagery that the ED has. Also it just has a stunning colour palette and beautiful frames too. Even though I am gunning for a part 3 of the anime and not a film … if this IS the final ED for the tv anime then I will be completely satisfied. “I see … Were those the Paths?” Anywayyyy I can gush about the ED forever but let’s move onto the the episode. Remember how I said when I watched ep16 with my anime only buddy and he couldn’t pay attention to the rest of the episode because of the ‘weirdness’ of Zeke at the beginning. Well, the same happened with this ep17 10 months after ep16. 😂 When the OP started he was just like “Can they fucking stop giving me weird Zeke shit at the beginning of an episode?? This betta not be a trend!” Bless his heart! But honestly the beginning of this episode is GOATED. The atmosphere, the MUSIC. The music is hypnotic, and you are right, there is strong deity imagery happening with Zeke, who let’s be real, looked amazing. His character model looks incredible here (and no it ain’t just about Zeke’s ass although not complaining) but his eyes looked stunning. Also how they conveyed his expression with his experience of the Paths and his absolute confusion. He really does look like he is ‘gone through some shit’. The entire beginning was soo well adapted and I couldn’t be happier. Also yes … our poor boy Levi 🥺 Looks like half his face is split open. And because his fingers were in the odm gear grips, they got blown off … at least this is the damage of what we can tell so far from what they have shown us. For some reason I really do like how smart Floch is in that moment with Hange. We like to meme on him a lot but he is smart. Which just makes him all the more a genuine threat. “You’ve suffered enough already” I genuinely adore this moment with Reiner. Yes. To the warriors and Marley Eren is the enemy. He is the biggest threat to the world. Their fear of the full scale Rumbling that Willy talked about in Deceleration of War is ever present in their minds. It’s why they sent the four kids to Paradis nine years ago in the first place. It is justifiable to be afraid of Eren and the founding Titan. But what I love about Reiner here is that it really does feel like big brother Reiner is back and he wants to stop the boy that he took under his wing from doing something that can’t be undone. All Reiner knows is what Eren told him in 4x5. So if Eren said to him that he is the ‘bad guy’, and he might just ‘destroy the world’ and he will keep ‘moving forward untill all his enemies are destroyed’… then what is Reiner to do? Reiner is suffering and I think he can tell that Eren is too. Reiner could see his conviction in 4x5 yes but he also heard and saw Eren’s dilemma. The fact that they ARE all the same. In the walls and outside them. So in a way Reiner is acknowledging that everyone is in pain and sadly the only way to stop this is to stop the boy who will never stop moving forward. And sadly, he taught him that lesson. Small thing but I love how unified Galliard and Reiner are in the fight. Galliard learnt his lesson in Liberio and is much smarter in this case. He ain’t charging in anymore. Also I don’t think it’s as simple to say that Galliard is ‘just out for revenge’. Although yes, that’s certainly a part of it, but there soo many other factors at play here for all of them. “You guys honestly think Eren wants to stop Eldians from having children?”. My boy ARMIN! Before I go in just want to note I’m soo happy you made him the thumbnail 😄 doesn’t my boy look amazing! To be honest you will notice that everyone’s character model looks hella good in part 2. You can tell there’s more attention and continuity to their designs this time around. But anyways. What I love here is how much Armin is sure of Eren’s character. The fear in the post time skip has been if Armin knows Eren. Armin who is Eren’s best friend, his FIRST friend. But here… it like hearing the euthanasia plan from Yelena has uplifted him, vitalised him, and given him true perspective. It’s now clear why he was ‘fake crying’ to Yelena. He is outraged to hear his comrades genuinely think that Eren may be along with this. It just warms my heart that Armin can feel that he is sure of Eren even after all the shit that Eren has done. But Armin believes that Eren’s plan was the idea to give the world a sampling of the rumbling. That way like he says they will leave them alone for at least 50 years. He may not be on board with the idea but it’s ‘better’ than the euthanasia alternative in his point of view. Best of a bad situation if you will. But alas… at this is point the audience and the 104th are still in the dark about Eren sooo can they trust that Armin is correct? 🤷‍♀️ Even so I just genuinely love that Armin can feel that he can still believe in his best friend in this moment. Also love how he shuts down Mikasa’s worries. Like he’s genuinely confused that he has to explain to her why Eren is lying. It’s kinda of inferred but I like to think that he’s thinking ‘well I know Eren. And I know myself. And I know YOU Mikasa. So why should this be an argument?’ And quickly Connie. I love how Isayama is slowly breaking down this character. Like he said himself, he feels like half of himself is gone due to Sasha’s death and you can tell. He has been stretched to the absolute limit and he isn’t prepared for how fucked up this whole situation is. He doesn’t have the common sense of Jean or the logic of Armin. He was very trusting boy that has been betrayed too often and well … can we blame him for being like this? Also the VA really shone in that scene too 👏 I think I leave it there this time around. Great start to the part 2 pain train 🚂 *choo-choo* and I’m excited for how you’ll react to everything so let’s just “keep moving forward”. Honestly your discussion had me laughing a few times but you’ll understand soon enough! 😏

It felt so good to hear Eren's inner monologue again after the drought of Eren's thoughts in S4P1 lol it felt like coming home again⭐☺️This episode is very brutal. Very hard to watch. Even as I was rewatching this with you I found myself laughing at how hard I was gribbing my blanket to my face as the episode was unfolding😂that's AOT lol gets me everytime & they did not hold back in this one. I loved the parallels you mentioned with the Pardis soldiers dying & falling like gun shells. I was wondering why that imagery disturbed me so much & of course it's because they were dying so suddenly but yea they did keep showing the gun shells dropping on the roof & then we saw the bodies doing the same!!😭😖Insane. We love Jean & Armin as a duo & I love that you mentioned them as a duo back in Season 1 & made me realize omg they really are amazing together throughout the entire series. As I rewatch we really get to appreciate those moments more. Everything is closing in. So excited your finally here with us. Let the theories begin🙌🏽😎

I'm just here to point out that we get to hear Eren inner-monologueing again. I guess that is a first step towards answers, eh ? The whole "Rebirth" thing is quite heavily used in this episode. Zeke, gets "reborn" (the scene of the crowd staring at him was the source of a lot of jokes, which should come as a surprise to noone, haha), Eren got reborn in S1 and did a little crucifixion pose when Marley got him cornered in this ep and Reiner found a new purpose and a reason to live for, imo that counts. So you have at least 3 characters running around thinking they are Jesus, okay... interesting ? I think it's important to remember, that Yelena cares about Zeke and only cares about Eren, because Zeke does. But that doesn't mean, that they are 100% perfectly aligned, Eren still holds a grudge against Reiner and if he is sure to win, why not go against him now and prevent Marley's advance before it really begins ? He is still defending the lives of Eldians who are alive NOW, after all. Eren has proven not to care about "insignificant" opinions. I think it's fair to say that to him, Yelena is a means to an end - Much in the same way Eren is for Yelena, come to think of it, except between the two i doubt Yelena could "use" him, while i can see it the other way around. In any case, Reiner is launching a "desperate" and "foolish" attack, i guess the canon came as a surprise though, but will it be enough or does Marley have another ace up their sleeves ? The big problem with Armin's view is that it borders on wishful thinking, just like Grisha's believe in Ymir. Yeah, it makes sense to a point, but how much contradiction can you take until you sound like a fool ? If Grisha's fate is anything to go by, Isayama doesn't think "wishful thinking" gets you anywhere. At the very least it was enough to stop people's morale from breaking (Connie), so yay ?

Miss Black... Your facial expressions and oh shits, do not disappoint! Levi and Hanji in the beginning.. instant distraught and then there's naked monke... Hehe, instant blushing. *Grabs fan to cool herself* Honestly, Studio WIT wouldn't have been able to pull off anything that MAPPA has fed to us. The shots, they way the lighting hits, how Zeke's eyes lightly shake from coming out of the titan. Beautiful. Tragic, but beautiful. I'm really glad you skipped the opening. I was about to yell WAIT like Reiner. Lol Make sure to keep skipping it until after episode 5. On episode 6, you can watch it. I keep thinking about what you said before in another video: Isayama and his 6 episodes. Lol. Can we talk about Magath having a cold heart and yet hugging Gabi when he got her back?!? Your softened reaction said it all. He cares so much for his Warriors, but never was able to show it because other Marleyan officers were around. Now that he's General and top rank, he doesn't give two shits. What else... Ummm. Can't really much, but next episode we'll talk more about other characters since they cut off the group talk in the underground. My heart goes out to Onyakopon for his brutal honesty.

Well, part 2 here she is!! I loved your reaction so much.. and the discussion !!! Although like Sasha said, some moment I couldn’t stop the laugh 😝 Anyway, let ´s get into this gorgeous beginning to an epic season.. this episode is a setup to what ´s to come and setting the tone from the get go to the trajectory the story is gonna take : bloodier, more complicated (as if it isn’t already !! ) and global. All the players are in the field, only the one with the best plan will get through this carnage!! Pieck is scared because she ask Porco to break the shakle not to cut her hand Eren didn’t listen to Yelena because no body come to his hometown to attack and detroy without paying!! It’s the essence of Eren and the Attack Titan. They don’t retreat. They always go forward Eren is surprised because he thought Marley is gonna wait the global alliance to attack Paradis which would have given Paradis 6 months Magath called Gabi by name for the first time ever!! Usually it’s Braun not Gabi, but here he was so relieved she is alive and unharmed that his emotions talked his brain Reiner is wrong at assuming by himself he is not a big threat. Because his strength is enourmous.. and his mental force is even more powerful.. Reiner thinks he understands Eren but unlike him, Eren never gives up!! Armin is the individual that knows and understands Eren the best in AOT world . But is he right to believe in him or is is just a state of denial… Conny’s VA was great this episode Poor Mikasa , I feel for her !! Eren’s words cut so deep inside that she doesn’t distinct anymore if her actions are all hers or just he *slave* mentality dicting them.. remember in season 1 episode 6 when the instinct quicks in she said: from that moment I could control my body perfectly and I knew what I have to do … now she is doubting every thought… her essence , that is her love for Eren, has been violently shaken.. This is just the beginning of the madness.. and yes, all what happened before is child’s play comparing to the madness of this season part I forgot to say How much I LOOOOVE THE ED!! It makes cry every time.. it is Eren’s song, his essence, his journey to this point.. it is the first Eren focused ED and it is the best one

I hadn't thought about that with Magath calling her Gabi for the first time, but that's a great point!! And I'm a little surprised Eren thought they would wait the 6 months for the global alliance -- he underestimated Reiner's resolve, but then, Reiner underestimated Eren's resolve...so there you go. :) The Va's were great in this and poor Mikasa, indeed! I feel for her in this episode....she seems so lost, and I just wish Levi or someone could help her. Beginning of the madness you say?! Oh my...and yes, the ED is great -- I can't wait to eventually at the end of the season get to the lyrics! Thanks for the comment!!

Romania: Porco can maybe just chop it off Porco: chops off whole arm Magath is in my top 5, maybe even top 3, fav characters. I really love him. You could see how much he cared about the Warriors but Magath wasn't in a position to show them that before. Him hugging Gabi was so soft. I feel so bad for Connie, he helped and got betrayed so many times, he lost almost every person he cares about. I can totally understand why he reacted the way he did. Uhh I really like what you said about the glasses being Zeke's tie to humanity. Thank you Jean for thinking clearly. He's right that they shouldn't assume Eren wouldn't agree to Zeke's plan. They're not in a position to think otherwise. It's better to think about any possible options. Wish you a wonderful day!!

Isayama, giving us what we want, but not in the way we expect! :P I really have come to appreciate Magath over the course of this series and seeing how much he genuinely cares about the Warriors and Gabi was GREAT. And YES, I feel for Connie, too. You can see how he's so torn that he has been betrayed so many times...it makes sense why he's reacting this way, and thanks! I'm a little worried now that Zeke has lost those glasses, not going to lie! @_@ And JEAN, OUR KING -- thinking rationally! Look at him! :) We love him for a reason!
