*Maybe Headphone Warning?*

I like that we see others notice WuXian's CLEAR change of character; even if it's subtle, our chaotic gremlin is not the same as he was before the Lotus Pier burning...and Wangji and Yanli especially are concerned for our Yiling Patriarch. And rightfully so...

There was a LOT of set up in these two episodes for things to come, but the conversation with Wanji and WuXian on the rooftop? Xichen's secret keeping about Yao? YAO IN THE WEN DEN?! Bwahahaha, I love that the novel moments I'm reading are overlapping with these episodes.

Thank you for watching with me and for the support!

yoooo I am loving these reactions! 👀 MDZS monday has become my favorite day of the week, thanks to your videos. there's always something to look forward to! :D I just wanted to let you know that if possible, I'd highly highly recommend watching episodes 26-27 together. I'm sure you know by now that this show really likes to cut off at some awkward points sometimes, and the end of 26 in particular cuts off right in the middle (like literally the middle of a conversation) of a scene where the emotional impact is definitely affected if watched seperately. forgive me if someone has already mentioned this at some point (my memory is not to be trusted) but I just thought I'd let you know!! thank you again for the wonderful reactions. :)

Busy Monday is made much much better with your MDZS reactions! Yes, Wuxian's transition is so obvious in these episodes and that makes me really sad. Also I like how they fleshed out different people's reactions towards his change and they all make sense. You're so right. If I were in the world of The Untamed, I'd love to have Huaisang's fan with me to hide my *satisfied and gossipy* smile every time seeing Wuxian and Wangji together hahaha. Judging from the robes, it seems like it's the Nie clan members with the Wen captives. It's just so sad that Wen clan members were treated so awfully by the self-righteous members in the Sunshot alliance. But we know our kind-hearted boy Wuxian is not going to have any of that. Yes, the battle scenes in episode 22 get a bit slow. But the pace would be much better in the rest. Things are slowly but surely going down. I don't like it, but I also can't wait for your future reactions :D Oh BTW Chenqing means "relating/telling one's feelings," and the Chinese name of the Untamed is actually Chenqing Ling, literally meaning "The Order of Chenqing."

Yes! I second watching 26 and 27 back to back, or at least watch the opening scene of 27 so as to get the optimal viewing experience.

It is SO tempting to take a break from my workday to watch these on Mondays. Thank you for making the start to the week a little more fun for all of us…. I’m really having a great time with your fangirling AND great attention to details and meta-analysis. Augh, that reunion scene at the beginning is so good and so heartbreaking: the dramatic irony of WWX making a promise we know he won't--can't--keep for Yanli, Jiang Chiang and himself to be together forever as it eventually will come into conflict with the promise/wish he made in Cloud Recesses to always stand with justice. Jiang Chiang is just so happy for his sister now that WWX is back, but I am always struck in this scene how he is an observer to their reunion here; he sits apart from them, just like it always seems he's been a little apart from their relationship all his life. And yes, heartbroken/pining Wangji is beginning to work through what is probably the biggest existential and moral crisis of his life, and is so desperately worried about WWX…. and it is truly hard to watch. It is also equally difficult to see how WWX just continues to bury/repress his trauma and deflect it with misdirection or humor to both keep others from worrying about him as well as ensure they don’t learn that he gave his golden core to Jiang Chiang…..arrrrrrrgh. I also really feel for empathy too for Jiang Chiang too in these episodes; he is a young Clan Leader trying to rebuild his heritage from the ruins of Lotus Peir while in the midst of fighting a brutal war, and without Wei Wuxian he has had to do this all on his own. And what happens when he finally is back? From Jiang Chiang’s perspective, he is not listening to his orders; flaunting the etiquette and norms of the cultivation world by deliberately not wearing his sword; walking out of a dinner held in his honor; and Jiang Chiang is also probably picking up on subtle clues in those war meetings that it is actually WWX they want in the room as he is clearly the most powerful player on their side right now (and certainly in the Jiang Clan). It doesn’t look good for Jiang Chiang if it looks like he cannot control his (stronger) subordinate, particularly in terms of his competency as a Clan leader. And reputation and image are both crucially important in both politics and in the cultivation world, as we know. And the Nightless City battle: ‘That was the smile of someone who was about to quit his nine to five’, I snorted out my drink when you said this, it is SO true! Yao is definitely the posterboy for why you should NOT piss off someone in the service industry. I also live for Lan Wangji’s fighting scenes here, you can really see Wang Yibo’s dancing skills demonstrated in the graceful, elegant, and very deliberate way that he moves.

Wuxian, honey, you've really changed. Or probably just grown into yourself. That grimness might always be there, just that his smiling face is too strong and always in place until everything happens. Jin Zixun makes himself known even before getting a name ahaha. And yes, Zixuan kinda reminded me of Spock here as well, being a voice of reason and standing there calmly, hands behind his back. Xichen is so very interestingly talking of no set rules. We never see that in the donghua or the novel, until the very end. Only there do we know he is contemplating the rules and whatifIhad's. That smile slipping from Wei Ying's face after talking of Lan Zhan. Oh yes he knows he's being unreasonable. But he already sets himself apart very clearly, saying "don't mingle with me, I'm only a weapon now, not worthy of your friendship, forget me faster so you won't get hurt". Accidentally, the first photos we ever got from the filming scene were WangXian fighting each other in the Unclean Realm, and all the fandom was very surprised XD Noone expected much from the drama then, and look where it got us. So different, that talk on the roof! The promise! The offer of help! They are really close, veeery much not the same as in the novel. The notion of changing a headdress is highly symbolical, even if not historically true. In the donghua, Jiang Chend gets his new headdress at the end of season 1, becoming a clan leader, formally an adult. We can fanon they turned 20 as well, although lan Zhan doesn't get a guan there. And in The Untamed, the change occurs only after the timeskip, so even when married Jin Zixuan has to keep a simple hairstyle. Well, it's a long drama, viewers might not recognise him if he changed it! And Lan Zhan changes one buddhist symbol to the other, wearing the "Pearl shell pattern" in the front and relocating his old one to the back. I think it means something along the lines of "moving from naivety and rules to open mind and attentive listening?" The siege of Nevernight loks so funky and theatrical here, with the puppets infecting people, and small fighting spaces. I get it, you don't have the budget for big clash XD And we need a fight that makes Wei Ying break his promise and actively use his... definitely not Yin iron, yeeah. Also, that's the last time we ever hear of puppets as still living people who could be saved. Not after this, not any longer. Chenqing kinda looks like it has metal inside, if you look at her ends. Very tough black bamboo from Yiling it is! Its name has many translations. it can be "conveying feelings" or "sentiments of the past". Anyway, it's a very telling name, not an obvious one for a weapon of evil.

Thank you so much for the kind words!! I really appreciate the support and am happy that you're enjoying my ramblings! Interesting....someone on YouTube was mentioning episode 26 and 27 needing to be watched together and....32 and 33? Is that right? I may have to do two weeks where I watch three episodes for that week....hmmm....I appreciate you letting me know! :)

romaniablack

Oh, thank you so much for the kind words! :) And yesssss, it's so sad seeing WuXian's transition in all of this, especially when readers know about what happens with his character. I NEED a HuaiSang fan to carry around and be sly with! XD Ahh, gotcha about the Nie clan members; it's so sad to see the innocent Wen's treated so poorly...I'm glad I didn't see Ning here, because I'm not ready for that RIGHT after the Lotus Pier burning! Haha! T-T And yesssss, I'm nervous for what's to come, but also excited!! And ahhhh, that name meaning....fitting, eh? :)

Kathy Cheng

Yes, it was me suggesting u to do these few episodes together in YouTube 🤣

romaniablack

OOOHHHHHH GOOD DEAL! ^^ That's awesome! Yeah, I looked at scheduling and since I want to do the movies for The Untamed, I think it'll work out! :D Thanks for starting the spark on YT and for the support on here!

Aw, thank you for the kind words!! I'm glad I help make Mondays better for y'all -- the power of MDZS and The Untamed! :) The drama with WuXian, Cheng, and Wangji is palpable and so tragic! It kills me seeing them so sad in these episodes -- at least we know they're (somewhat) happy in the present, eh?! And I do feel for Cheng; his actor does a GREAT job portraying him in this series and his expressions and mannerisms are just so well done and help us to understand his character better; great points in this comment! And HA! Sorry about your drink, hahahaha, but I was DYING with how good Yao's actor was in this! Yao was just DONE with it all and him taking it out on Mingjue...now we just need to see him take out Ruohan, too. ;)

romaniablack

Yessss, I do love watching this series, how apparent it is that WuXian is DIFFERENT than he was four-five episodes prior. The donghua moves so fast, the changes aren't as apparent at first, but here...you see the set up and the aftermath sinking in...and it's really well done. Good to realize who Jin Zixun is and YES! I'm glad that we're getting Xichen talking about the set rules now...helps explain his relationship with Yao more. And that rooftop scene!! I love it -- that's incredible about the set photos being that scene coming out first?! Wow...yeah, I can't imagine the stir, hahaha! And that's really cool about all the little subtle changes throughout this series; it definitely adds more depth and richness to the costuming and symbolism throughout, and that they paid that much attention to detail. :3 And that IS fascinating about Chengquing's name meaning...hmmm... thank you for the info and the comment! SO excited for next week's set! :)
