After a short happy break with Episode 5.5, we're right back into the fire with this episode, as Lu and Cheng get back to business investigating a missing child cold case from three years prior that Ling -- I kept calling her Rin/Lin in this episode; I had just watched the PV for the Japanese dub and that's probably why; apologies! -- has a startling connection!

This series loves to build the anxiety and tension, but I'm here for it...I think!

Thanks for watching with me and for the support!

Yup, another sad one - however it ends, it's still sad for the parents. This one will also have a tie-in with a real-life case of a kidnapper. I loved that Cheng thought he might be the CCTV, lol, but having him appear in his own body is interesting. Will he end up seeing his younger self? I like that they are kind of working with the police on this one - they can only do so much but if the cops have a solid lead, then it becomes their task to finish the investigation. But yes, now that cop will be aware that they are not con artists, which may lead to more cases.

Can't believe that we're halfway through already! You will find out if this case will end happily or not hahaha. Watching this episode after having finished the entire season, I realized that there are actually quite a few foreshadowings for the rest of the season embedded in the scenes. Hardly could the innocent me realize that when I was watching it for the first time. This show is just amazing. The father bought the jade turtle from a sketchy Daoist who claimed that placing it somewhere in the house would affect the fengshui of your family. It's quite a common but superstitious practice in China. Depending on where you're from (urban or rural area) and the level of education, people may believe in this or not. This additional piece of info might be useful for an audience from a different cultural background in the next episode.

Yeah, there's lots of set up with the potential of the police, here, but I'm very eager to see how Cheng will get out of this situation without altering the future. I mean, surely Lu has a plan, right?! :) Thanks for the comment!

RIGHT?! How are we halfway through already?! Insanity...Hmmmm....that is interesting about the foreshadowing notes; it'll be fun to look back on (surely, right?) once the foreshadowing comes to a head later on! And thank you for that information! That is good to note, especially since I'm very much a foreign audience on this!

Episode 2: “If we disagree in the future, will we break up?” Thankfully not! The way that Cheng said he needed a break from the business that night, and then Lu Guang told Ling about it as if it were his idea…just struck me as such a couples thing to do. My protective Lu Guang HC ship started right there, if not before. This show needs to get more popular cuz there’s not enough fan fiction out there.😕 But this was a serious and stressful episode. The Moms breakdown, ugg. This show knows how to do pain. If the kidnapper escaped through the blindspots in the cameras then Lu Guang wouldn’t know anything about what happened in 12 hours because that’s all he has access to in this situation. Pretty much riding on what Cheng can find out in his own body in instance. 😬

Ooohhhh, I agree, more people need to see this show! And I'm full-on shipping Lu and Cheng at this point, but it's good to see Lu so supportive (even if behind the scenes) for him. :) And the parents....especially the mom, and the father taking care of her and still looking for their son...it's SO tragic! And that's so interesting with Lu having to rely on Cheng in this moment...it's a dynamic I'm sure Lu's not used to, so that should yield some interesting results! :D

I feel like every episode makes me cry at this point. The mother having this break down and the father still doing everything he can after years of disappointment was heartbreaking. And knowing that this is something that happens often in real life makes it so much sadder. Wish you a wonderful day!! Read this only if you have watched the next episode already. (I copied this of from another reacters comment section) The kidnapper is modeled after the infamous "Aunt Mei" who is an actual wanted child trafficker in China. The character design is drawn from a widely known profiling of Aunt Mei.

The mother’s breakdown is SO HARD, and seeing how the father is trying his best for his wife and his son and is struggling, too…it’s so sad! And yes, the real life angle just makes it worse. Having watched the next episode, that is REALLY good to know! Thank you so much for the kind words and comment — and have a wonderful day, too!

*breathing heavily* Okay I caught up! Are we getting all the time warping goodness now? That idea of quelling your own pain by helping others is great, of course, but doesn't it make Cheng Xiaoshi a little reckless and desperate to redeem himself by saving the kid? Hmm!

romaniablack

So much time warp goodness! And yeah, Cheng is so empathetic -- he's easy to relate to, but we the audience see the downside of altering time...I wonder if Lu not telling him about Emma's fate is going to come back to bite him...we shall see, eh?! :) HMM, indeed!
