One of my favorites returns, our sunshine boy finds a new weapon (and his ship with Miyuki reaches new levels) to use, and the Nabe earns a new nickname as "The Sniper!" I LOVE IT!

Seriously, what can I say about these episodes? Sawamura and Zono (that face, wth?!) hit great strides again, may have Ochiai re-thinking some things, and this game against Oya is neck and neck to see who'll win and advance to the semifinals! Now, Sawamura, just stay focused and in the game long enough to close this one out! That shouldn't be hard...right?!

at the 15 minute mark where kataoka sais to get early strikes with the outside pitch and to get into a rythm is because in baseball momentum is i huge factor in a win or a loss so kataoka told sawamura to get rolling and get into the groove because if he pulls out those pitches right away and they fail it would demoralize sawamura and in turn the whole team would be in a slump and risk loosing the game altho another strategy is that most pitchers will use the fast ball or a variant of it so like the sinker, the cutter, 2 seam fastball, 4 seam fastball, forkball, and palm ball to get ahead of the count and use the breaking pitches for the strike out or to prepare them and get them off balance

2022-02-02 13:40:52 Ah I actually love this game lol. Ouya as a team I definitely don't like as much as Ugumori but I love this game still. Fun fact, Ochiai was actually a catcher not a pitcher. I imagine he must've worked through some breaking balls with a few different pitchers as their catcher. That scene of Miyuki dropping the ball Sawamura threw is such a "instantly in love" moment ahhahaha. The twinkle eyes, the white background, the lens flair over Sawamura. That boy is so in love with the potential of Sawamura as a pitcher lol I love seeing how far Sawamura and Chris have come as a pair. They've come a hell of a long way from where they started and the fact that Miyuki invited Chris to see Sawamura moving up a level is just so heartwarming. It's constantly like Chris is Sawamuras Dad being invited to make sure his son is doing well lol and seeing Chris' soft smile at his improvements is just UGH. So cute ❤ Forgive me for cracking up at the fact that you thought their coach was a player 😂 he's a beautiful man so I don't blame you but I was dying over it lol. That whole visual of his history metaphor comparing them to cavemen and astronauts was wild. How much of the budget did they spend on that scene alone lol. Definite scholar school vibes lol Kuramochi was such a big brother in this set of episodes lol. Calling Sawamura trash while complimenting him, kicking him in the ass, being annoyingly difficult with praise and support. Such a big brother lol I love their relationship a lot. Everytime someone thinks or says outloud for Sawamura not to get cocky i crack up. That kid hasn't been cocky like ever. He's barely confident most of the time. They project a lot I think by assuming that because he's doing well, he must be cocky about it and looking down on them when he's never once done that. Ouyas coach says their mind games didn't work when they really only used 1 mind game lol. That forced balk was the only mind game they played on him and it worked so I dunno what he's talking about 😂 they just can't get good hits off Sawamura. Some beautiful shots in these episodes. That split shot between Miyuki, Nabe and Mochi was great along with that shot of Miyuki and Haruichi coming up to bat. So pretty. I think the best part of these episodes, and this game in general, is the real feeling of Nabe being part of the team in a real way. He's always been on the team but this was so much more tangible and you could see how entwined in the team he's been in this game. Even mid game he's working at figuring out some things for them to use against the opponent. I'm glad he found his place and he enjoys it 😊 I laugh everytime listening to Go call them "baseball gorillas" and especially calling Zono the "gorilla boss" lol. What an elitist scholar attitude to have. Honestly Sawamura is adorable to me in this game lol. I think he's one of the funniest main characters of any show I've watched. He gets so flustered by praise. I think the way he takes feedback is very situational. Getting feedback by Ochiai in practice trying to learn something is a little different to him getting advice mid game thats mixed with some really big praise. Had they given him advice without the praise I think he wouldn't have been so goofy about it lol. He does take it all seriously he just doesn't know how to act with so many compliments lol. I think they mean a lot to him. If Chris was still active on the team with Ochiai around, I think he would absolutely be like a protective parent keeping Ochiai away. I honestly think he'd barely even let Ochiai talk to Sawamura. Especially after the "change to sidearm practice pitcher" situation. He'd cut that shit off instantly without being outwardly rude to a coach. After his own injuries i think Chris would be very protective about anything that could injure Sawamura. I love seeing Sawamura and Kanemarus friendship develop lol. They're very cute. All the first year's actually are adorable to see interact. It's more than just SawaFuruHaru now. With pitchers, the different types of pitchers have different expected pitch counts. Sawamura is a "pitch to contact" pitcher so he's throwing less than say Furuya who's a fastball pitcher. I'm not 100% sure what kind of pitcher Go is but Sawamura generally will have a lower count than Furuya. Especially because Go as a pitcher is actually kind of similar to Taiyou from Teitou. He throws balls to bait the batters and is fine getting the count up a little. He's not as good as Taiyou or as intimidating as a pitcher but they're kind of similar in that way so Go trying to bait them into hitting lower pitches is gonna have his count up a bit. Anyway, I'm excited for next week's reaction and I hope you get to enjoy them soon 😊

Yesss, that makes a lot of sense! And that's really neat to note about the styles of pitches; I'm such a newbie to the baseball world, AOD is my only source of information, so that's good to know! :) Thanks!!

I’ve really come to love Kuramochi in this series; the big bro vibes he gives are just great! 😊 And yeah, I love Sawamura because he’s NOT cocky at all – I definitely agree with the crowd, though; I don’t want our boy to get cocky, but I’m just glad he’s doing WELL at all…mangaka, give our sunshine boy a bone! And he is so cute in this game, too! Yeah, Furuya just likes “praise in general,” but Sawamura takes it in a little more complex way, which I appreciate. And YES! Kanemaru slowly changing his nickname for Sawamura and acknowledging him is so good! And HA! Yeah, I want to like Oya, but they’re no Ugumori, hahaha! At least their coach is hot. :P But also, yes, Go has such an elitis prep mentality! I would hardly describe most of Seidou’s players as “gorillas,” hahaha! And yes, the animation was really good in this episode; I’ve liked it with season two as a whole so far! There’s been some really good reaction shots in these episodes. I LOVE Nabe’s character and how it’s developed over these last sets of episodes – I love that he’s such an important part of the team even off the field; it reminds me a lot of Nao from Ugumori, in a way. He’s a pillar of support for the team and everyone respects him for it. I’m so glad Chris-senpai is in this set; yeah, he would definitely be a mother hen over the underclassmen around Ochiai, especially Sawamura. *sigh* I wish he was there still… That’s a good thing to note about how Sawamura and Furuya are different as pitchers, too! Having just watched the next set of episodes (last night), all I can say is I am SOOOOOOO very excited for next week! 😊 Thanks for the comment!

Among the /many/ things that can be said for this series is that some episodes can go by fast. I honestly lost track of how many episodes passed. Following-up on the ending of last week's set, Ochiai really does his best to frustrate us. Like I thought, he didn't help Sawamura out of any kindness on his part, but to advance his own interests. First, he wanted to prove that Sawamura wasn't worth the team's time. Second, when or if Sawamura failed and/or broke his form as a result, Seido would almost certainly lose the game against Oya and Kataoka would be out. And when it doesn't break Sawamura, it still worked out for Ochiai, who now looks like a genius and has increased his stature with both the players and staff. And even with all that underhandedness, we still have to give it to him because, as I said last week, he's now done more for Sawamura than anyone not named Chris or Kataoka (and while it does look like he "stole" Kataoka's intentions for Sawamura, that's not really the case because Kataoka still isn't planning to be there and be the one to teach Sawamura; Ochiai just accelerated those intentions - and while I'm not sure of this because of the language gap on my part, I think Ochiai is the one who identified that the change-up specifically would mesh the best with Sawamura; if he was a complete b******, he could have outright sabotaged him). The greatest bit, though, is how surprised he is when Sawamura not only throws the change-up but simultaneously restores the "naturally-moving" fastball that had been weakening as he focused on proper form. And not only him; when Miyuki misses a catch, you know he's going to fall in love a little bit. :D No wonder he's, as Ochiai puts it, impatient to try it out the new pitches (although impatience might be one of Miyuki's problems generally). Too bad it didn't work out the first time. But everyone's reactions to that failure was hilarious! And to follow-up a little bit again from last week, by being there for him /again/, I also feel that Sawamura might be closer to Kanemaru and Tojo now than he is to Haruichi, who seems to be in Furuya's orbit more (not that I ship them, or Kanemaru/Tojo for that matter; I don't ship Furuya and I actually ship Tojo with Teito's Mukai; but to each their own!). I never could have foreseen that having witnessed their relationship - or lack thereof - at the beginning of the series. And Tojo is just an all-around good baseball player. If he got some more confidence in his pitching, I think he could join Furuya and Sawamura as part of the pitching sequence. All-in-all, both Kanemaru and Tojo are easily high up the rankings for me when it comes to Seido teammates. When it comes to the game against Oya, first, I just have to acknowledge how much I love Maezono's "game face". I can't help but laugh every time I see it. It's such a tension-reliever! But Go - or rather Wakabayashi - aside, Oya might not be as interesting as they first appeared. Don't get me wrong, they're clever (especially Coach Araki - and finally an adult ikemen!) and should not be regarded as the under-dogs they seem to regard themselves (in contrast to Sakurazawa who were under-dogs and knew it), but what's most compelling about them is the person carrying the chip, Wakabayashi. Unfortunately, his attitude makes it really hard to empathize with him; but maybe that will change as the rest of the game unfolds. Until then, I just want to see Sawamura dominate them and show them (and us) /his/ growth.

romaniablack

That is so true – I’m amazed STILL at how fresh this series is despite how many episodes I’ve watched; there’s still new things coming out, and it’s crazy! And yessss, Ochiai….*sigh* The fact that he was testing Sawamura with the breaking ball to prove he was worthy of discarding is just…*grumble* And you’re so right, the worst part is that Ochiai looks GOOD for having taught Sawamura the breaking ball…when it was really Kataoka’s idea from the start. “Than anyone not named Chris or Kataoka” – that got me! XD Yeah, he’s a good teacher…I just hate how underhanded and slimy he is with it. But I’m so glad our Sunshine Boy is able to go above and beyond in that moment, and Miyuki….falling in love? What? :P Oh, that first failure was hilarious, but who can blame Miyuki for wanting to try it, especially with Chris-senpai watching?! I am starting to notice that too, so I’m glad you brought it up – that slowly, Sawamura is getting closer (definitely) to Kanemaru and Tojo and Haruichi is closer to Furuya – the show does it so subtly, but when he has that run in with Ryo and Ryo establishes it, it all clicks. Interesting! Zono’s “game Face” terrified me when I first saw it in the reaction, but it is quite funny! Hahaha, I can see what you mean about Oya – I definitely liked the match (having watched the next set of episodes) against Ugumori more, but I did come to appreciate Go a little more in these episodes and the next (and hot coach! Hahaha, finally, Kataoka has competition, haha!) – but yeah, I’m with you, I want to see Sawamura show his skills and prove his worth…as if he hasn’t done that already. 😉 Thanks so much for the comment!
