Soo Won uncovers some shadiness that's been going on during King Il's reign, but the main focus is on Hak, Yun, and Yona making their way towards the first Dragon on a cross-country road trip!

It's hard for our trio to not stand out, though, as Yona asks Hak to teach her self-defense -- oh, the Shojo Shenanigans that occur, though! I LOVE this episode! And it looks like we're FINALLY meeting a Dragon!

Thank you for watching with me and for all the support!

The truck

I don't think that soo-woon could have told hak and yona about his plan, because from what we know, pretty much only way for him to get to his goal (which we can now assume to be getting the kingdom back to its glory or strength or just general well being for the kingdom.) IS to kill king Il, because he's the king and only way to change things is to get a new king. And he's yona's dad, ESPECIALLY while she was still in her dollhouse of a castle and didn't know about the outside world, she wouldn't have sided with Soo-woon, and hak would follow yona. So-woon clearly knew this. And I think that MAYBE part of why he didn't even ask, might have also been partly for not wanting to face Yona with such a question. or well, that's my thoughts on it. About king Il, I do not like or respect him AS a king. (he's a good person, but NOT a good king, as far as we know(or maybe i have missed something(who knows))) In my opinion, a king is someone who is supposed to keep the kingdom running. And the fact that people were clearly using Il's kindness to their advantage in such as filing taxes illegally... in my opinion he was too kind. and in ep 4 it was mentioned that "to avoid conflict, King Il gave other countries land to avoid conflict" which I do not like.It might be just me, but to me he sounds like a pushover that if you threatened him with war or violence, he would give anything to avoid it. I understand not wanting violence, but... He's the king. I just can't find myself respecting a king like that, but then again these things depend on the person, maybe other people do respect him for the reasons that I can’t respect him. and then there was Il forbidding Yona from using weapons, which I do get of not wanting for your daughter away from violence, but something about all that and all the other stuff, it just feels like Il was just closing off the existence of violence and poverty from his castle and the capital and just created some form of fantasyland in his castle, which this, is purely based on how I feel based on the show and what it has shown to me, so I might be alone with that feeling. Ok, I have spent over 20 min with this comment so… I hope I was successful at trying to make this make sense. Nice discussion as always!! ⸂⸂⸜(രᴗര๑)⸝⸃⸃

One of the dragons has appeared! Finally, the best boys are coming into the series (besides Hak and Yoon) and I can't wait for you to meet them all. Of course the white dragon had to appear the last few seconds of the episode but next episode we finally get to see a full on dragon warrior! I'm glad Yona can get to experience all this, learning first hand what her country was like under her fathers rule and wanting to better herself so she can protect herself and others. I'm caught up with the manga and it's great to see how far she's come since the very beginning. Soo-won doesn't believe he needs the power of the gods to fix the country and I admire that, he's doing it on his own with his own strengths. And yeah as I've mentioned, depending on the sub you watch the name of the white dragon might be wrong but it's only the first letter that's different so it shouldn't matter much. Can't wait for next week!

Yessss, I'm so excited to finally be meeting a dragon! Yay! Can we just consider all the dragons best boys with Hak?! I think I'm going to by the end of this series, haha! What a tease at the end of this episode, right? And YES! Yona getting to see how the country actually feels about the royal family and seeing her own countryside? Good stuff -- I do appreciate that Soo-Won isn't looking to the power of the gods to fix things; he wants to do things through his own strength...it's an interesting juxtaposition with all the spiritual things with the Dragons going on! That's good that it's just the first letter that might be off -- we shall see, right? :P Thanks for the kind words and comment! Have a great week, too!

It’s such a sad situation, because you’re right – it’s probably true that in order to become the king that the kingdom needs, he HAD to kill King Il, and in doing so, that was going to make him Yona and Hak’s enemy from the start. It’s so frustrating, because you can tell he really cares for the two of them, but it just was fated they would be against each other. It’s really sad, because King Il seems like a good, kind man…just not a good king. Of course, we still don’t know the full context of him and Yoo-Hong, so I’m intrigued by that, but it’s exciting (albeit frustrating) to see how complicated this plot is getting! Yeah, the corruption is showing in that moment with King Il and what’s leaking out…it’s definitely intriguing! Yeah, he doesn’t want violence, but is that possible in his position? Curiouser and curiouser…yeah, I feel like maybe there’s something to not wanting Yona to interact with weapons? Maybe something connected to the King Kiryuu? I’m not sure, but it’s going to be interesting to see how that develops with Yona working with Hak to practice her self-defense…hmmm…. Thank you so much for the comment and kind words! Definitely we have lots of things to think about, eh? 😊

But how should Soo-won talk with Hak and Yona about his plan? He can't tell them since the only way, from what we know, for him to become King is to kill Ill. And they obviously wouldn't be alright with it. When it comes to Ill from what we know so far, I don't have respect for him. I don't think he is a bad person but he just isn't a good king. And it's definitely a good thing to not want war but when it came to conflict he just gave away his land and that sounds like a bad way to avoid it. I like that the anime doesn't try to rush things so we will meet the dragons sooner. I love that the whole episode was about them traveling and Yona starting to want to learn to defend herself. I'm also glad Yona gets to see how people outside of the kingdom thinks. Here comes the first and most underrated dragon. He's right after Soo-won my other best boy. Wish you a wonderful day!!

Yeah...ugh...it's so complicated with Soo Won and Yona/Hak's situation...I want them all to be together and be happy, but there's so much that seems to be left unknown. I agree that Il may not have been a good king; he seems like a kind person, but not a good ruler if he let this corruption go uncheck and was being passive with letting others walk over him. I agree that I like the pacing and it's taking its time with the set up and getting to the dragons! And I like that Yona is getting a "taste" for how people actually view the kingdom -- it's a good way to build up her character. I'm so excited about the White Dragon! :) Deeeeefinitely best boy material (having seen the next episode); thanks for the kind words and have a great day, too!
