 Y'all...I figured WuXian and Wangji would have chemistry on screen, but you all DID NOT WARN ME about the INSANE chemistry between XiChen and Yao's actors ALREADY! THE PINKY TOUCH! I may have nearly fangirled out of my seat. 

I can't believe we're getting Yao, Ning, Qing, AND Yang so soon in his adaptation -- but here we are! I am so excited to see how this adaptation handles the story...and Wangji...Wangji, my good sir...you're doing a great job playing a sour puss, but we all know you secretly like WuXian's trickster gremlin antics!

Seriously, I wasn't expecting to be attracted to Yao's character ALREADY in this series...but here we are. The flirting with him and XiChen was just off the charts already in this episode!

I loved it, when you noticed that the Wens didn’t change into the white robes. All the clans wore white dresses with their symbols on the shoulders — to pay respect to Lan Qiren and the Lans. However the Wen clan not only declared their arrogance by barging in, but subtly tried to disrespect them by not wearing the required robes. In the donghua it was the placement of the tables during the Archery tournament. Here — this particular scene. I’m glad they put such details in the adaptations. I think everyone has already told you about Yibo (Wangji’s actor) not being quite suitable for the role in terms of height and boyish appearance, but the vibe he has just covers it all. I remember there was an interview with the director of the show, where she was asked, why exactly did they choose Wang Yibo to play his role. And she answered that she didn’t even notice him at first, among other candidates, but then, during personal auditions, he walked into the room with such a majestic aura that everything was decided at that moment! Meng Yao and his customer service smile! I was screaming every time he glanced at Xichen in awe. I love how the live-action pays attention to their relationships as well (no offense to the donghua, of course! It also portrayed their bond nicely). I’m all here to fangirl about XiYao with you! Thank you for reaction! Can’t wait for the next Monday.

Honestly, the XiYao moments are so goooood! I really like how the Untamed fleshed out the character of Yao and his chemistry with Xichen more as we shall continue to see because it has more screen time than the donghua. And the actor playing Yao is perfection. His dimples and sweet, puppy eyes are too much for me (or Xichen) to handle. I also appreciate these small changes in this live action adaptation to make some of these characters appear early in the story so we get to see their interactions and bonds more. In my opinion, most of these changes enhance the character development in the show. Thank you so much for your reaction!

Also, forgot to mention something about Wangji’s robes! You probably know that white clothes in China symbolizes mourning. Wangji, unlike his brother and uncle, wears only white robes, and from my point of view he does that at first in the flashback to show how he’s grieving for his mother and father OR how his life had seemed lifeless until certain someone appeared. The same happens in the present timeline — in first two episodes he wears white clothes to emphasize his grief for Wuxian! I remember that somewhere around 8th/9th episode he finally changes the colour of his robes (from white to blue)— and it’s when their relationships with Wuxian start to get better. Very interesting detail.

Wen Qing and her acupuncture needles, ohh. I mean, If everyone could get themselves a powerful girl like this one! If you remember old graves on Dafan mountain in ep2, it is established already that in the Untamed she is in no position of power, no relative to Wen Ruohan, hers is a little branch of the big family, living at Dafan mountain. A big change and big motivation to succeed. Also, I actually like Wen Chao's actor very much, he's great and handsome when not playing a crazy powerhouse. At least he's a real threat this time around (and Wen Zhuliu. That one is even better). As for XiYao, that ship has never been my cup of tea but I can't unsee the crazy chemistry as well. Meng Yao's actor and his smiles are awesome.

Yesss, I love Wen Qing in this so far! Ahhh, and that makes sense with the Dafan Mountain angle! I agree -- I like Chao's actor, too; he looks like he's going to be fun in the role! Oooh, I'm excited to see Zhuliu! And yeah, the chemistry is THERE with XiYao in this! Yao's actor is so perfect at portraying that "smiling innocence," when we the audience (if you've read the novel or watched the donghua) know what his character is capable of! @_@

I LOVED the XiYao content we got in this! The chemistry is just off the charts for me...and YES! Yao's actor is so perfect -- especially when we know his character later one...I'm so excited to see more of him!
