Oh, y'all...Mo Dao Zu Shi is BACK! And I could not be more thrilled!

I feel reading the novel up until this point has refreshed my love for these cultivating detectives, and this show is NOT holding back! Not in terms of the mystery, the supernatural action, or the WangXian!

I was fangirling the entire time, and I can't wait to talk about it with you all!
Thank you for watching with me and for the support!

Omygod been waiting for thisss! 🥺 I really love how the team working on MDZS gives 0 flying fcks to censorship lmao. Like-- "Wei Ying shall hug Lan Zhan if he wants to.", "Lan Zhan shall be eyeing Wei Ying with so much love and adoration if we wants to". 😭 And this arc, the Yi City arc is easily one of the most devastating arcs of this whole story. I shall prepare myself to cry again wtf. 🥲 Thank you for your awesome reaction as usual!! I know the subs can go really really fast so I'm glad that you're willing to go back to it and read it again ❤️

It's finally here, right?! Censorship? In our final MDZS season?! Naaaahhh -- all of these moments were soooo good! That hand pat of WuXian wrapped around Wangji? *faints* I'm terrified with what this season has in store, but also beyond excited for the possible WangXian moments, especially since there's so much they've not given away to us yet...and thank you for the kind words and comment! Y'all have taught me that going back to re-check dialogue is essential for this series! :)

2021-10-19 03:25:20 Yeah…I’m getting flashbacks to this painful arc and ugh I can’t wait to see it all animated ): it’s so messed uppppp! I’ve been literally so eagerly waiting for your reaction and I’m glad to see that you aren’t TOO confused. From a novel reader POV I do think it’s being rushed and changed but it’s not too bad. I’m curious how it’s going to play out with these few changed events though. Well, can’t wait for the next episode & have a good day!!

I loved the OP very much, its colors, its golden foil effect, its lyrics. A bit sad they didn't continue with 3rd verse of the same song but it is gorgeouss, I want the full version so hard. In terms of animation, I felt it was a little bit wonky at a times, but not often, and action scenes were animated with great care. Wangxian dynamics changed so significantly. Wei Ying is so much more playful, like the whole force of his personality is unleashed. And Lan Zhan just has NO CHILL in reacting to his shenanigans as a loving husband should. No point in playing games of pretense anymore! It felt like they rushed explanations and intro for Yi city arc a bit, but I get where they are coming from. Creepiness and action is much more preferable to begin the season with. And our sweet sweet skipped scenes will be introduced later, even if merged together or made short... I think listening to them in audiodrama would do fine while replacing the novel readthrough! Since the translation is still done by fans and is very close to the text. Yes, many book reactors are cutting their reactions closed, but we still have audiodrama and manhua. Or you could still talk about reading, if translators would be okay with it. I understand that it's not legal to distribute fan translation anymore, but downloading it for personal use and reading until the printed text comes out... less morally grey. I mean, it's still legal to talk about books you've bought and your listeners didn't! Woah, Wei Ying is so freaking badass in these episodes. Of course, he knows how to deal with stubborn corpses, he's the Patriarch for a reason! Not only with a song, but with beating also. Oh, there is a joke about a piece of text you've already read! When they walk to the Man-Eating Castle, remember, there is a few weak walking corpses that were afraid of him and ran away, and Wei Ying played it so that they became afraid of Lan Zhan? Well, the fandom jokes that's because he made dead people work for him at Burial Mounds, all the tough and light jobs, and the word spread - noone wants to be exploited like an ox even after death! I see WeTV lacks two commercials that were there in Youtube version, one before an episode and second in the middle of second episode. They are hilarious, try looking for them later, or I can provide the links after ;) ED has about a half of art already published online for season changes in China, but that's okay, they are still gorgeous! Wen Ning and A-Yuan walking together, though, that's new... and Yanli, ah. That's the work of Higga, my favorite official fanartist, and one day we're going to see another artbook printed with all those gorgeous pictures, I just know it. Tne thing I love the most in this changed dynamics! Wei Ying getting flustered himself when his shameless phrases are met with full acceptance! I agree, donghua feels like those two are openly flirting, even if in the book it's mostly Wei Ying still prodding at the edges, trying to find out what is that strange feeling he's getting again and again. Three steps forward, one step backward. What, why are you better at the gay chicken game than me?! Another thing I'm not so sure about: were the citizen's souls damaged because of their eyes missing? Probably, since the Chinese believed at the time your body in the grave must be whole, if you want to be reborn with all extremities attached. Then Wei Ying's line about his soul being torn apart is simply untrue, Mo Xuanyu wouldn't be able to call him back if it was. The demonic arm's owner soul is definitely torn apart, that's why they can't talk to the ghost, so the translation about Wei Ying must be botched a bit. The detective vibes are real! See you at the next episode mark with new theories!

Ahhh, **hype intensifies** Thank you for the kind words! I'm so glad you liked it; and yeah, it's not been too confusing, haha! I'm actually glad I'm going into this season having NOT read the novel, because I figured they would make a lot of edits, cuts, and changes with it only being 12 episodes. It'll be nice, though, to go back through the audio drama, manhua, and novel afterwards and read/see what all was changed. Having done that after watching seasons one and two, I had a MUCH better understanding and appreciation for the story afterwards! :) Have a great day, too!

That's a really good point about the audio drama and manhua -- if I can't access the novel by the time season 3 finishes, the audio drama is a pretty faithful rendition, so I could still react to it and the manhua and then come back to you all on Twitter or in another recap video for the novel updates, if needed. :) The open flirting (well, for Wangji, I feel it's 100% flirting -- for WuXian, like you said, it's him prodding and being met with the shocking shamelessness of Lan Zhan!) was soooo welcome and is such a lovely addition from seasons 1 and 2. I love these two like this! I know we'll probably still get more flashbacks to them not in this great state, because we haven't seen WuXian's actual death yet, but I love these moments, here. The action scenes have been great in this so far, and thank you for the note about the eyes -- I didn't know that about Chinese burials; that makes a lot of sense! I'm really excited for this season, and even more to "fill in the gaps" with the audio drama/manhua/possibly the novel when it's done! :) Thanks for the kind words!!

LOL. You devolved into a sputtering and incoherent mess. Use your words Romania. Don't hold back on how you actually feel. Now you know how I felt after watching the trailers. Just too much with the WangXian and upcoming scenes. Just too much.

Adding to the eyes, the imperial eunuchs had a custom of bringing their severed genitals with them in a pouch, so that they can be buried with it and become fully functional males in the next life. That was the funny part, and now for Wen Chao losing his genitals in non-censored version of donghua... and of course the demonic hand which means her owner can't be reborn as well. Also, Wen Qing and Jiang parents being cremated.

romaniablack

Oooohhhh, wow, that adds a whole other layer to Chao's demise -- so is it the belief that if you're cremated you can't be reborn as well? :( Well...if so, that just made several of those deaths a LOT sadder. T-T

OH, just wait, I struggled through the discussion with Episode 2 (Or at least I feel like I did) because there were so many theories, questions, moments running through my head. I'm glad we have a week to rest in between these episodes. Squeezing two in a weekend was too much. @_@ But no, I couldn't be happier with the WangXian moments they gave us this episode! I have no clue what's coming next, but to say I'm excited is an UNDERSTATEMENT. ^^

It was good not to watch the last few trailers because there were even more spoilers in it. I think because MDZS was one of the first BL adaptations (I think) they didn't knew how much is okay and now that there are a lot more out they know they can give us more. Jin ling has that he doesn't admit he found friends and cares about them definitely learned from Jiang Cheng. XD I love the atmosphere here. I expected to fangirl when Xue Yang, Xiao Xingchen and Song Lan appear but I didn't think I would be screaming. XD Now only one character left and all my favourites are here. I'm still not ready to see the Yi city arc. I found it really interesting how different the opinions on characters are in mdzs. Often a lot of people feel the same way of characters but here it can be really different. Smol jin guangyao is everything I needed. Ahh, it's so hard not to talk too much about the characters. XD Wish you a wonderful day!!

romaniablack

I suppose it's good in the long run that MDZS's final season airs after other BL series have come out, so they know they can get away with more, now. I'm glad I didn't watch the last few trailers, too, from the sounds of things! :) And yessss, Ling having friends is so great! Even when he tries to hide it...And I can SO understand that all of these new characters are going to elicit different responses. I'm soooo ready to delve into them more! And YAO -- I didn't expect to see him back so soon, but here we are....that flashback was something...so many questions! I can't imagine how hard it is for the novel readers not to talk! But all in good time, eh? Thanks for the kind words and have a good day, too!
