Part Two of our Kunikida/Atsushi/Dazai side quest, and the question of "Ideals" throws Kunikida's philosophy into question...oh, and there's a BOMB to disarm, too!

Aside from the beautiful animation, this episode was quite Shakespearean in quality; I like Shakespeare, but often times...those stories end bittersweet or without a completely "Happy Ending." Oof.

Thank you for watching and for the support!

Hi so welcome to our mid season finale. Very bittersweet and if that's not a tone piece for parts of this show midst all its comedy. Don't worry; there are still some happy endings out there too. In hindsight, a lot of the wild out of nowhere twists actually make sense and that's the cool part. The unusualness of her being the only one in that tank while everyone else is in the gas chamber, "my partner is dead", her knowledge and how seamlessly she explains her input on the Azure King original case kind of thing. The breadcrumbs are there. At the very least to make you suspicious. At least we get good partner dynamics. Atsushi's been wondering why they work so well together despite their banter and disarray in the office. Well now we have better insight. They instinctively cover each other's weaknesses. They have what the other lacks. Obviously that's meant to clash but its also meant to hold them together. Heckin good partnership. You have impeccable timing with your curiosity I find. Either the series is well paced enough to ensure it gets to the things you're most curious about in a timely manner or you just have a weird sixth sense for what's coming next. Probably both. You mentioned this before you even started the episode and me knowing what episode 8 was quietly preparing for it. We're in the latter half now my friends, things are going to get a lot more reckless and interesting. And then there's still more to come!

Thank you for the comment! Yessss, the bread crumbs were all there, and I didn't put two and two together until the very end, but I love that in a good mystery show! :) The way that it surprises but still made sense all along? I love it! And we finally get insight into the Kunikida/Dazai dynamic...even if they clash like at the end of this episode. Kunikida's VA was SPOT ON this episode! I feel like I spin a roulette wheel when guessing on shows like this -- I can "kind of" sense some sort of pattern at times, but then they throw in twists like this episode and it hits me out of nowhere! ^^ Still, I've noticed usually Episode 8-12 in a 12-episode series are where things spice up, so I am REALLY hyped for next week! This episode was great, but I can't wait to see what's to come!

Anastasia -

"Justice is a weapon. It cannot protect or save." "The disease called Ideals. Oh, those words. How Dazai knows the truth of them and why... is probably the most painful lesson in his life. Next episode will be very interesting! I love Yosano so much, And her life counterpart, her poetry, it's so bright and strong story of a woman.

Those two lines -- about justice and ideals -- they hit hard this episode! And the mystery of Dazai and his experience with those words...his face when confronting the Azure Messenger at the end was so pained...I'm so intrigued with his character and Kunikida...ahhh.... And YES! I've done a little research with Yosano the actual poet, and she's so fascinating! I can't wait to talk about her next episode!!
