I've wanted to see this series for a while now, and have finally gotten around to indulging myself with it -- and since there were only 5 short(ish) episodes, I decided to do a rare thing for me: BINGE WATCH the whole season! 

The comedy in this series is so wonderful, and I LOVE the concept! The animation is definitely going to split its audience, but I still found this show fun to watch and talk about!

I understand the people who are not going to like this because of the animation. It looks like a Gif of a manga panel rather than an anime. Some people would say "Just read the manga!" But to me this anime is justified by having the PERFECT voice actors! The music is also decent and adds to the scene, and I think the anime has good comic timing that is hard to match when you are reading the page and controlling the pacing yourself.

Also I would like to add that this is probably a good anime to do a budget-saving animation style on, since there is little action and mostly people talking and posing. If the budget goes into another, more visually-intensive product but we still get this hilarious and well-acted show, then I understand. After all, art is a business and this is a VERY competitive anime season.

Oh, the voice acting and the music sting MADE this for me! The comedic timing was also just really well done throughout! I think it's definitely enough to overlook the animation; especially if that was the mangaka's intent! ^^ At worst, you could play the anime while reading the manga -- kind of like an audio CD, eh? :)

I get that, too -- yeah, they could have done the animation different, but I think the comedy would have been the same in the end, so it doesn't bother me. I definitely understand if some don't care for it because of that, but hopefully, they'll look past that and can appreciate the comedy and the other elements of it. I know I definitely did! :) Thanks for the comments!!

I kept forgetting to watch this all this past week, oops! I found animation a little off-putting to start but I adjusted pretty quickly - it makes total sense to not go all-out and let the voice acting be the star of the show, though some part of me still really wants to see a Ghibli-quality montage of Tatsu preparing food, haha. And the acting, omg. It would have been a delight to be there at the recording, I'm sure, just letting Tsuda-san go absolutely HAM. I actually have a couple of the manga volumes from the library right now, so I can confirm it's fun to read along and get the combo of VA + amazing art!

2021-10-19 03:42:38 Oh, you're totally fine!! :D Yes, in the preview, I was a little jarred by the animation (especially because I'd seen a few manga panels where the art style was better), but the adjustment wasn't hard. The Voice Acting, Music, and comedy as a whole definitely takes center stage here! Although, if everything could be Ghibli quality, I would NOT complain! XD I cannot IMAGINE the behind the scenes for these! ^^ That is awesome that you have the volumes -- I definitely need to read these! <3
