I love how they show how out of sorts Haru is bc of both, his future AND the fight with Makoto by showing him not wanting to go into the beach, being hesitant to enter the pool and not bringing a swim suit. Like, is this the same boy that try to swim in a FISH TANK?!

Oh my GOSH, you are SO RIGHT! How did I not connect those dots?! He was TOTALLY not himself in Australia! Maybe he was just thrown off being in a new place? That's soooo true! Great call, there!

This episode is soooo fun, quite the pick-me-up after the MakoHaru fight! I love all the English spoken in this episode. Some of it sounds uncanny and unnatural, but then other sentences are more-or-less flawless. And Rin's English is just the best. Poor baby Rin was so embarrassed and trying so hard :') ALSO I love how Haru is so damn shook by that fight with Makoto. And how Rin: A) Calls it, and B) immediately conflates it with "Well, me and Sosuke...", hahahaha. Gotta talk about your bf problems with the homie. And Rin's homestay 'parents' are so precious! Getting that puppy just for him. And trying to embarrass him with all the stories about his fondness of Haru, like any good parents would. Haru's smile is so, so pure, too! Great to see. Great reaction as per usual! P.S. I know you have a pretty solid gameplan about Starting Days, the OVA, Take Your Marks, etc. But I just want to make sure you also know there is an "episode 0" of season 3! I didn't know about it until after I had watched all of s3. It didn't necessarily ruin anything, but it helped me connect some dots.

Oh my gosh! This episode was much-needed after all the building angst of this season! Honestly, the English in this episode was so endearing, especially the Australian accents -- even when it had an uncanny valley effect, I loved it. And Rin's English is so pure...I need more of it! ^^ Baby Rin tried SO hard! hahaha! Also, OMG, right?! Haru was definitely affected and Rin's like, "Oh? First time, eh?" Haha! Russell and Lori are the most precious and I love them getting Winnie for him, too! Them trying to connect with Haru as well was just wonderful! I love how concerned they were for him! And then, yeah, Haru's smile can cure disease. Proven fact. ^^ Thanks for the kind words! I have everything lined up -- I've been having trouble finding Episode 0 with English subtitles (Funimation only has the English dub for some reason), so I may have to ask on Discord to see if anyone has it. :P

Honestly the English in this episode is some of the best I've ever heard in anime, and there's so much of it! Usually the "Engrish" is a bit cringe worthy and not spoken for very long before it switches back to Japanese with the understanding that English is being spoken. The only major cringe I had was during the first car scene with little Rin, I was like "No, Rin, run away!" 😂 I've noticed that with any foreign language tone and cadence make a huge difference and it's not really something people think about often because it's so automatic. My mom is Korean and I can always tell whenever she hasn't spoken English in a while because more than vocabulary, it's her talking tempo and the way she phrases her sentences that stand out. And yes, that whole hotel scene was straight out of a "literal sleeping together" trope fanfic😆

Right?! I haven't watched many anime with English, but it was really good throughout -- the car scene! Hahahh, I died! "Run away, Rin!" XD It sounded a little like a video game walkthrough, but honestly, it's so darn endearing, I love it. And YES! It's the TONE and cadence -- that's what I was thinking of! That's a really great example with your mother! And ahhhh, the fanfic "only one bed" trope -- I cannot imagine the fandom when this episode originally came out!
