Welp, the tears start here, y'all. T_T

I did NOT expect King's moments here to hit me as hard as they did, but Kakeru and his storylines both had me weeping this episode...and THAT PHONE CALL?! He's in LOVE!

The power of this series, especially in this final hour has blown me away, and we STILL have one episode to go. This show has been great from start to finish, but these last few episodes...these are something special.

Thank you for the support and watching the full length reaction!

Again, Kakeru and Haiji's relationship is just...Haiji's faith in Kakeru is just... I love how each character has their own reason for running and how running has changed them. I ca relate to some of King's feeling of wanting to be social but not really feeling like you can be. The journey of this anime is so GOOD and full of heart.

The faith that Haiji and Kakeru have developed in one another...just...*heart melts* Each character has been on display and shown why they run -- I never imagined King's to hit me so hard, but it really did this episode...and now it's down to Kakeru and Haiji. The final two...ahhhh, this anime has been so damn good and I can't wait to watch the final episode with you all!

2021-10-19 03:48:31 THE PHONE CALL. It's the kind of thing where regardless of how one interprets Kakeru saying he's in love, knowing these characters and what matters to them as well as we do, it's like the most romantic shit I've ever heard. I'm glad you also watch the episodes on crunchyroll, because something about the translation they used just absolutely pole-axed me. "To me, you are the greatest runner." "Watch me. Watch what you believed in." **clutches chest** His confidence in his running is so different from before, when it was as if his skill was a thing that happened to him/caused him pain, and now it's something they built together & makes him the happiest he's ever been (and now I'm making *myself* emotional again, oops). (In case it wasn't obvious, I'm a big believer in Kakeru capital L loves Haiji, lol XD) And King! The show just came right for my throat with his run, as a person who is shy/socially awkward & not good at putting myself out there. A lot of my best friends have been Haiji types who forcibly cracked open my shell to get at the 'real me' gooey center, haha. I loved seeing how the crowds' excitement buoyed him up, too, I miss races in the Before Times when random strangers would be out on their lawns to cheer for you/give high fives as you went by!

OH, there is no doubt in my mind that Kakeru capital L loves Haiji! That phone call? The fact that after that talk, as he's running, that he was SO calm, in his element, and in this blissful state?! It's love dammit!! And man, of all the characters, I did NOT expect King to be the one to get me emotional (before Kakeru, of course, because that whole second half had me a MESS)! But I found myself relating a LOT to King's character and his struggles socially with his friends, and the fact that Haiji helped him become who he is...UGH. And ahhh, the Before Times, indeed! It's crazy to think back on compare to now...but man...this series has gone all out on these last few episodes...and we're not even to the last, yet. And yes! I watched HiDive for the reaction, then I went back and watched Crunchyroll and HiDive's English Dub. :P

AHHHHHH SO GOOD! Love the phone call too, I interpreted it as since he hated running in high school because of that monster coach I was thinking that he actually loves running now. To me it seemed like he realized that his reason for running was just because he loves it truly now that he has someone like Haiji, but who knows this show is so good it doesn't even matter haha!

romaniablack

YES! I think it's definitely that! He hated running before and finally realized that he, in fact, loves it! Of course, I'm in that boat that things Haiji was a big factor in him learning to love running again, but I realize I'm in "shipper mode" when I say that, hahaha!! This episode was just so darn good! It got to me!! And we still have the finale!!
