Yeah i'm also all for the Übel/Land matchup... still worried about him losing is head, metaphorical or literally. Meeting and having to overcome Sense as part of the test feels a bit like if i gave my students a test and only passing those that could get a higher mark than me on it. Seems kinda harsh... except some have Frieren to go up against, wich i guess is even worse. I wonder how good the copies are and what they exactly mean with "mind"? They did bring up the Einsam, and with how the Himmel copy behaved from that monster, it seemed to better replicate people (well personality/intelligence/mind-wise atleast). Did those apparitions have minds? How much of the original person are in these new ones? With the Übel copy they seem to suggest some of the personality of the original do shine through. Not sure if you knew or someone have told you but "spiegel" means mirror... makes that monsters name somewhat redundant.

It does seem harsh, however the copy of Sense is not a true copy - just her powers without her mind, so it has basic combat instinct from the Speigel animating it, but it does not possess Sense's reasoning and intelligence which would make it far more deadly. I think the episode explains it fairly well but from what I gathered - the Speigel creates copies that have the targets' abilities but not their knowledge (hence they can't be hypnotized - they're mindless), and the Einsam creates a single copy whoever is most important to you - using your memories. But that copy possesses no abilities to fight or use, and I don't even believe it possesses the originals' knowledge, but merely draws on your memories of them from your mind.

Just hearing you bring up Himmel loving the idea of having multiple Frieren's - hahaha, that's amazing. And the Speigel's copy would actually pay attention to him as well, unlike the original! In all the wrong ways of course, as it tries to kill him! I think the juxtaposition of repeatedly hearing Sense (which is two syllables not one - I know pronunciation isn't your goal, but just had to say it!) be called a pacifist and then seeing her copy stab Edel in the heart, possibly killing her (it crossed my mind at the moment of impact) caught me by surprise. Also, it was ironic how Edel's failed command of "kneel" to the copy was met with an attack that immediately had Edel herself kneeling to Sense's copy! As you mentioned in the opening a little to what I said earlier about the change of pacing from earlier on due now to the number of characters - I agree with you and it makes sense (haha no pun intended). It is a lot of fun getting to learn about them from their interactions. Over time through re-watches I've definitely warmed up more towards it all! And one last thing to throw out there - since I'm wrapping up your Trigun (which is a very enjoyable reaction) and you mention about the 90s dubs being pretty great in a lot of the more grounded anime from the time - Frieren's dub is actually amazing! I'm not knocking the original VA in any way, as that's really incredible. But I've seen both all the way through multiple times, but they really nail all the main characters (Frieren particularly) in the English dub, all Frieren's little hmmpfs and quirks and the side characters too. So I say to anyone, if you're someone who's seen it a lot of times already, or just someone who occasionally re-watches to try a dub - Frieren's is way up there IMO, it might be one of my favorite dubs actually.

Himmel happily battling a copy of Frieren paying attention to him? That would be something I’d have loved to have seen! Yes, I had someone tell me how to say Sense (since) the episode – I will try to add that new syllable; y’all will just have to be patient with me. It’s interesting how much personality and mindset make a difference – it was definitely like the show was saying, “Be grateful she’s a pacifist.” Now we can’t stop using “sense” in conversation hahaha! And yeah, the change of pace is definitely an adjustment, but I appreciate it! Ooohh I’m so glad you’re enjoying the Trigun reactions! I’m in love with Trigun! And that is so good to know about the English dub of Frieren! Thank you for letting me know about it; I may have to check it out! Thanks for the comment and kind words!
