I thought I was prepared for this third installment of the Sinners in the System series, but I was NOT for the callbacks and the ending, hinting at what's to come!

The animation was gorgeous, the villain so much fun to talk about, and the emotion and heart with our "main man" here was just delightful! What a way to conclude this trilogy! Let's talk about it!

Moment you said your coffee was more on the adult side I thought "Apt choice" 🤣 Might need an extra shot of something with the return of Kougami in this! So proud of you recognising Kougami's voice before he actually appeared on-screen. But I do have to laugh that his return in the movie was shown in the beginning with him sniping an army convoy, and in the beginning of this he's getting involved in a bar fight 😂 Kougami really is our bisexual king! Awful lot of subtext with Kougami and Garcia's first conversation. This is a ship I can definitely get behind. Kougami really is our superhero in Psycho-Pass with how he jumps, head-first, into these dangerous situations to help people 🥺 The way Tenzing's eyes are animated, with how the light reflects in them, I definitely see her looking quite like Mika. Though, in my opinion, she's cuter than Mika. The thing I loved about the movie and Sinners of the System is that it moved away from the plot focus being within Japan's borders, and instead gave us a little more world building of what other countries are like in this futuristic era. It's also interesting of how the other countries we've seen are not using advanced technological items (such as holos, holographic lights, self-driving cars, etc.) and are still more "old school" that is more relatable for the viewer. This does make it all the more terrifying, in my opinion, with how realistic some of the events portrayed throughout the movie and all three Sinners of the System movies. They also just slip in pieces of information (such as in this movie we learn that the UN is no more) that helps you further understand the situation of the rest of the world. It really expands the universe of Psycho-Pass but also lets us see a more diverse range of people and cultures. It's not something that happens often in a lot of media, both Eastern and Western, but definitely doesn't tend to happen in the anime I've watched unless going outside of Japan is relevant to the plot, rather than just about expanding the world within the anime (for example, Yuri!!! On Ice includes multiple races, cultures, and places outside of Japan but that's relevant to the plot because the main competition an international one). I loved your justification of Tenzing not being Mika, because she's showing interest in Kougami 😂 But I would appreciate getting some baby AUs for Kougami and Akane... Now I'm a little older, watching this back and seeing Kinrei's design for only being 36 gives me the same vibes as teenagers on Twitter saying characters who are 30+ fits for old man yaoi 😅 They do get the characterisation spot on though for how a kid of Tenzing's age thinks about people so much older than them. Like I said in the Discord, I feel like it's the animation style and lighting, but also that Kougami is in a better place now than the movie. It also helps that our most recent comparison to his character we have is from Part 2 when he had become an Enforcer and before Akane joined Division 1. I definitely think he's mirroring Ginoza's development a little. Both have been freed from the things that previously had a hold on them, though I'd say Ginoza is in a healthier place mentally than Kougami (considering he does still think of Makishima) 🤣 But in saying that, Akane kinda did a similar thing back in Season 2 with envisioning Kougami every now and again. Just has a different feel to it when you're imagining a conversation with someone still living, than someone you killed 😅 They gotta give us that man *ahem* I mean fan service 🤭 The bath scene though is definitely a shock with how Kougami's just suddenly naked and wet. Also this anime really is all about equality on the fan service. Kougami Shinya says "No!" to spoilers...yet another reason to love this man. I adore how Kinrei got sidetracked the moment he saw Frederica. Pretty fair considering just how attractive she is. Also love that Kougami just bulldozes passed it and wants to know why Kinrei's there. It's pretty cool of Psycho-Pass to introduce Frederica's character in the previous movie, and then show her being a badass with a sniper rifle in this one, alongside basically saving Kougami's life. Garcia coming in and helping out, checking in with Kougami, returning his gun, and giving him a gift of cigarettes?? That is a good man you've got there. I'm not saying he's morally good (he did kill someone with a knife at the start of the movie, murdered his underling, and basically gave commands for the murder of a whole bunch of people) but he's good to Kougami and that counts more when it comes to fictional ships 😂 Your excitement over Makishima's "return" was fantastic! For the Kougami/Garcia ship I feel like Frederica's not even a blip. The true hurdle is Kougami's past with Makishima 🤣 I agree on the unrealistic part of her wearing a blue bra under a white shirt, especially when you then don't see the bra through the shirt. That's ridiculously unrealistic 😂 We do love us a man that will talk up a woman who was basically his previous boss. Kougami putting it all at Akane's feet though for how the Inspectors and Enforcers in her team work together gives me all the shipper's feels. Glad I'm not the only one that thought about Rocky and his training sequence to Gonna Fly Now when Kougami and Tenzing were training 🤣 Your heart really goes out for Tenzing. She has a lot of unresolved trauma and pain. Makes complete sense that she's blinkered to her idea of revenge. But as a viewer you just watch it all play out and hope that she'll come to her senses and not be found by Garcia and "PP!Nash" (I really can't think of him as anyone else 🤣) Garcia turning on Kougami, and you saying "We could have had it all" made Rolling in the Deep by Adele start playing in my head so thank you for that 😂 Garcia certainly stirred a fire in Kougami's heart by hurting Tenzing. Romania: Why does Kougami get into knife fights with everyone? Me: Because he looks good doing it 🤣😏 Oh my god, yes! Tshering is so much like Russel from Independence Day. Only he managed to swerve all the death flags and survived this movie. The silent fangirling said it all for your anticipation of Kougami's return 🤭Though they're honestly a tease for having that little bit of time after the credits end to make you think there might be a short after credits scene. Out of the three Sinners of the System movies, I would say that Garcia gets fleshed out the most as an antagonist. That's not to say that the antagonists of the other two movies were more one-dimensional or anything, they were great and well portrayed. Just we didn't get as much breakdown with their characters I feel as we did with Garcia. In regards to the fan service, I completely agree that (for the most part) it's all done in a very tasteful manner in that it's there but it's not made to feel perverted or like you're ogling [I say "for the most part" because I could see arguments against this with that scene of Akane ogling a shirtless Kougami in Season 1 🤣]. For the bath scene, there was nudity but it didn't have a sexual feel to it (which honestly does represent how it as at least an onsen from what I've experienced in Japan). Whereas if this was a Western show such a bath scene would have more sexual connotations in how it's shot, and the way the bodies are positioned and on show/hidden [looking at Game of Thrones and The Witcher for two somewhat recent ones that stick in my mind for that]. Seiyuu for this movie: Tenzing's seiyuu is Morohoshi Sumire, who has also voiced Yachi from Haikyuu!!; Kyouka from Bungou Stray Dogs; Lili from No. 6; and Ann from Violet Evergarden [she also voiced the collared woman who was charged with looking after Akane in Case 1 of Sinners of the System]. Garcia's seiyuu is Isobe Tsutomu, who has also voiced Heinrich from Monster. Kinrei's voice actor is Shimura Tomoyuki and has also voiced Kitts Verman from Shingeki no Kyojin. Tshering's voice actor is Takagi Wataru, and is the same voice actor for Ganju from Bleach; Gustav Milch from Monster; and E.G. the Mine from Trigun Stampede. Looking forward to starting Season 3 next week! 🥳

Loved the reaction & discussion! I really enjoy all the Sinners of the System films – I agree that Psycho-Pass takes well to longer form storytelling with these “contained” narratives. I think part of it is the fact that they are not afraid to have minimal action which is there only to supplement the story. And so many darlings – new and old - get time to shine! 🥰 Loved getting Tenzing – her being a sort of mirror of Kogami’s journey was really well done, I think. And getting more development for Frederica. Even more amazing female characters! Shogo continuing to cameo as Kogami’s shadow is something I really enjoy – especially on this rewatch as you’ve made many references to what Shogo would think of the various characters/antagonists and their plans, or what he’d throw at them. 😂 Kogami definitely makes people gravitate towards him, so Garcia didn’t stand a chance, same as Desmond in The Movie. I would love to share some of Yugo Kanno’s OST for these films, especially the variations on familiar themes, but it hasn’t been released yet! This is a travesty. Ahh, thank you for the comment and kind words! The Sinners of the System films were all really well done – the longer format definitely works to crank out a cohesive story that doesn’t feel rushed but didn’t need to be “spread out” - it’s like mini detective stories! And that it can let its stories “breathe” for us the audience! And yessss Tenzing being a mirror for Kogami was great and a wise decision to help him come full circle – and yay for Frederica getting more development. Psycho Pass giving us well-rounded female characters is a welcomed event! Makishima being Kogami’s shoulder devil has been such a fun experience – I can’t wait to see if he shows up in future episodes, especially if we’re back in Japan. And Kogami is SUCH a magnet with with his charisma, uniqueness, nerve, and talent. No one stands a chance with this rabble-rouser! Ooohh, thank you for the links to these songs! Spiked coffee plus Kogami for an hour? Amazing combination! I’m so happy he’s back, even if he’s constantly in a brawl – he’s just that kind of Messy! Do I want this for Akane? Maybe! 😛But YES! Our bisexual king – I’m literally up for rooting Kogami with EVERYONE in this series, nearly (except Mika for reasons). But he’s literally a superhero in this series! The animation was SO good in this special! The note about how people in their 30’s look so old - I FELT that! The animation evolving, though, has been nice to see! And the series being equal in its fan service? Yes, please. The world building in Psycho Pass to incorporate outside of Japan in these specials has been so refreshing! And to note how technology is or isn’t used is so interesting. And the little nuggets of information feels like it’s expanding the universe and connecting to our own reality which is…scary in a lot of ways at times. I feel you bringing up YOI at a time like this was…*sheds tear* appropriate. Frederica is a neat character, and a badass with the sniper rifle, but let’s be real: Kogami around her is like Kogami with Shion - blondes are clearly not his thing. But silver-haired book club presidents? That’s another story! At least Garcia is trying! Wooing Kogami with cigarettes, y’all! Our tramp’s not hard to please. BUT HIM TALKING UP AKANE?! My HEART. “Putting it at Akane’s feet” – you mean…like a dog? 😛;) Tenzing was a great stand alone character, too! And her tie to Kogami’s journey, as well. And I’m glad you also feel me on the Independence Day reference! PP!Nash is that character’s name, now. It’s settled. 😀 YES, That Adele reference is what I was going for! SO I’m glad it worked! And YES, Kogami is destined to knife fight everyone – I look forward to him knife fighting the brains in the main room of the SS headquarters. ;) I was SO excited at the prospect that Kogami is going back to Japan, now! Thank you for the voice actor info for the final episode! I am SO ready for season 3 starting this coming week!! Huzzah!!
