*HORNY ON MAIN HEADPHONE WARNINGS*

I'm REALLY diggin' these feature-length Psycho-Pass "episodes" so far, and this one gives us much-needed Mika focus as well as my new favorite past time: GOING BANANAS FOR GINOZA.

I may have a problem, y'all, but it's definitely not with Psycho-Pass and Part 1 of this "Sinners in the System" series - this has been SO much fun to talk about!

You're right on the Ginoza glow-up, although I'd say Thorfinn in Vinland Saga season 2 could give him a run for his money.

Loved the reaction & discussion! Honestly, Horny on Main should have been the official tagline of this series from S1 onwards. 😂 Gino absolutely shined this episode! 🥰 Saving everyone, looking after a child, taking on the brunt of the action, displaying plenty of patience and grace, etc, etc - even Rodion developed a crush, who can blame him? Also, the Rodion/Gino fight set-piece is one of my favourites - I’d compare it to the Knives/Vash fight in S1E12 of Trigun Stampede. This one had a bit less ballet, but the traversal of the space was actually interesting to watch (this is just personally rare for me in action sequences). Even with next to no scenes Hinakawa, Sugo and Shion did very well - I appreciate any and all crumbs. 🥰 I definitely think part of this episode is commentary relating to various nuclear (+ other environmental) disasters and maybe the 2011 Fukushima disaster specifically. A lot has been written since then about how particular “cultural” and collectivist features of Japanese society (compliance, reluctance to question authority, insularity, etc) led to the disaster being “Made in Japan” – this was a moniker given to it by Kiyoshi Kurokawa who chaired the independent inquiry. I would recommend the reporting around this inquiry (NAICC) – it was the first “independent investigation” (these are usually known as “public inquiries” in the UK) ever commissioned by the Japanese government. Also Kogami was definitely Catwoman – I completely agree with this. 😂 I didn’t bring it up with the last reaction, but action and war movies were noted as specific inspirations for The Movie (particularly Apocalypse Now). And I can think of numerous 80s-90s action films where the “female love interest” (often in a sequel) is in some war-ridden and/or disaster area as an aid-worker/with MSF/etc. – but we get Kogami take this role and I adore Psycho-Pass for it. 🥰 Looking forward to next week! 💙

The most important question gets answered in the first few seconds: Ginoza still has the ponytail 🎉 Also hooray for you joining the "horny for Ginoza" fanclub 🤣 Aomori is at the very north of the main island of Japan (Honshu). It's roughly around 440 miles away from Tokyo. At least he did give a greeting. But yeah getting on and off a lift/elevator can result in such awkward situations. Ginoza wearing a trench coat like his Dad and acting like Masaoka too 🥺 We give Mika where credit is due. Love when she throws shade at the other characters, not so much when it's with Akane. Rojion's hair is so on point. For as much as he's a villain, I do love how they animated his hair and beard. Yeah it was Kunizuka tapping into the security, even whilst being held in an interrogation room. Daddy Ginoza hits just as different as ponytailed Ginoza 😆 They gave us Kougami fanservice in the previous movie. Now we, finally, get some Ginoza fanservice 😍 Because of the suits it gives me Doctor Who vibes too. And because of the mine it makes me specifically think of The Waters of Mars episode. From the beginning of their interaction you knew Ginoza and Rojion would fight. But you never could have predicted what kind of fight it would be, and what a disadvantage Ginoza would have. The sound team also did a fantastic job with all those thumps and making them sound like they'd hurt. That moment of Tsujigai trying to convince the collective is exactly like Scar's end in The Lion King 🤣 Trade with foreign countries being inevitable is another nod to how history repeats itself, but as history is no longer taught in Japan thanks to the Sibyl System, the citizens would be unaware that it's history repeating itself. Ginoza's comment about being glad to be Akane and Mika's hunting dog honestly made me think of the end of SK8 with the proclamation between Ainosuke and Takashi 🤣🤣🤣 Sorry I died at your reasoning for why Mika, if she'd been around as an Inspector in Season 1, should let Kougami live ("his abs") 🤣 But I definitely agree Mika's interactions with men versus women so far definitely gives her a more lesbian vibe than any other kind of sexuality. In regards to the haircuts for the latent criminals, I will admit when I first saw the copy + paste hairstyles I did write them off as just an easier way to animate it. But then it made me think a little of North Korea and how there are approved haircuts the citizens can choose between... The only new seiyuu for characters in this movie that you would have heard from other anime is Rojion. He's voiced by Koyama Rikiya. You possibly recognise his voice because of Mozgus from Berserk; Fukuzawa from Bungou Stray Dogs; and Takei from Fugou Keiji. As always a great reaction and discussion! I definitely agree with you that Psycho-Pass is one of those anime that can fit well with being in movie format. There are some anime I feel can't do the same and would be better received if they were given a full season instead of a movie for an arc.

Hahaha, I feel that tag line is DEFINITELY appropriate! Thank you for the comment and kind words! Ginoza was soooo good in this episode! I can totally see the Knives/Vash comparison to Rodion and Ginoza, and we don’t blame him for the instant head turn when our former grump arrives on the scene! They definitely took center stage in this! That is very interesting with the tie to the 2011 Fukushima disaster – I didn’t know about that, so that’s interesting to hear! I may have to investigate a little before the final Sinners’ episode! And thank you for the information about The Movie (such a title) being influenced by Apocalypse Now! And I agree – I love Psycho-Pass for taking a trope and applying Kogami to it! ;) Makishima would be proud of these references! Excited for you all to see me gushing for Part 2, and excited to get to Part 3, now!

I am OFFICIALLY a co-chair of the Ginoza fan club at this stage of the Psycho-Pass experience, I feel. And not him being more and more like his dad! My heart! I am not saying no to the fan service that Psycho Pass provides! And I agree, they animated Rodion well; his fight with Ginoza was a highlight for me! Rodion being voiced by the same VA as Fukuzawa is awesome! And connecting Ginoza to TadaAi – Annie, you’re going to make me combust! Hahaha!! That’s cool to know the geography of Aomori! MIka is such a card – I get super defensive for Akane when she starts to get snippy with her, but it is fun to see her jostle around other characters – and I agree; she’s definitely not one to give men any qualms, but she’s definitely more lenient/caring towards female characters, unless it’s throwing shade at Akane for “somehow” (since she doesn’t know Akane’s in on the SS) having unquestioned authority. And yesss, the concept of “history repeating itself” when the citizens of Japan under the current SS don’t know their own history is so wild to me; I keep forgetting that point, but it’s so important in this story! And maybe there are only so many haircuts latent criminals can have? Maybe it’s a trend? I’m up for any explanation! 😛 Thank you for the comment and kind words! I love Psycho-Pass in this format – the mini-movies and full length one have been so fun so far and I can’t wait to see what else it gives us!
