Chapter 25 – Fairy Tail and Phantom Lord

“So, this is Magnolia?” Ur asked as she walked off the train with Gray.

“That’s right, Master.” Gray smiled as they looked out of the small station to the visible town. “This is the home of Fairy Tail. My house is on the west side of town. I’ll show you once we get done at the Guild.”

“Kill…me…” Natsu groaned as he stumbled out of the train. Mira, Cana, and Erza didn’t look much better from the ride. Lucy was trying to comfort all of them, but it was hard for only a single person.

“Sorry, I didn’t have enough Magic to fly us back after taking everyone back to Hargeon from the island.” Happy apologized, though there was a teasing lilt in the blue cat’s words.

The group had dropped Yuka, Sherry, Toby, and Lyon off at Hargeon. A call to the Lamia Scale Guild had seen the furious face of the Guild Master, Ooba Babasaama, ranting at three of her members for disappearing for three years without a word. Promises of punishment had made all three Lamia Scale Mages blanch and pale. The Guild Master herself, along with their strongest member Jura, would be coming to Hargeon that very day to collect them. Lyon had said his goodbyes to Ur, promising that the next time they saw each other, that he’d be a proper Mage. Ur had ruffled his hair, like when he was a boy, and told him to make her proud.

“Oh solid ground, how I missed you.” Natsu was slowly returning to normal as they walked out of the station.

“It’s good to be back.” Mira smiled, her own nausea disappearing now that they were off a moving vehicle.

“Yes, let’s get to the Guild and report to Master Makarov.” Erza was happy to get another successful Quest on the Guild’s records for the Council.

“Hey…does the air of the town seem a little off to anyone else?” Cana noted the looks that some of the townspeople were giving the group of Mages.

“Huh, now that you mention it.” Lucy was also starting to notice the varied looks from the citizens of Magnolia.

“Did something happen while we were away?” Gray wondered as they continued to head for the Guild.

“They seem worried more than anything.” Ur noticed. Both the looks and the bits and pieces of conversation she was picking up as they walked sounded concerned more than anything else.

“What’s up with the Guild?!” Natsu demanded as his eye went wide.

Erza, Cana, Mira, Lucy, Gray, and even Ur gaped at the large iron spears that were peppered through the three stories of the building haphazardly. The front doors were demolished, every window was broken, cracks and holes littered the walls, and even the Guild’s sign and flag had been broken and thrown on the ground. This had clearly been a premeditated attack on the Fairy Tail Guild.

“That son of a bitch…” Natsu growled after sniffing the air a few times. He never forgot an important scent. This one was very familiar!

“What’s the meaning of this?” Erza’s face was a mix of confusion and anger as she looked upon their Guild.

“Phantom.” Lisanna spoke up and all eyes turned to the Fire Dragon Slayer as she approached them with her arms full of grocery bags.

“Lisanna!” Mira nearly glomped her little sister in relief that she was okay.

“Welcome home,” Lisanna smiled at her family, her arms quickly unloaded as each of her Dragon Sisters took a bag from her. Natsu pulled her into a warm hug and their lips met for a soft kiss. The two shared gentle nuzzles and a few smaller kisses before they separated.

“So…Phantom Lord, huh?” Cana gave Lisanna a one-armed hug as they went around the damage and entered the basement of the building.

“The hell is their problem now?” Gray questioned with a scowl as he walked beside Ur. “We usually only have disagreements and skirmishes when we cross paths on Quests and stuff.”

“We’re not sure,” Lisanna shook her head. “This happened in the middle of the night when the Guild was closed.”

“Not like their Master has any problem with his Mages starting fights for nothing.” Mira scoffed as they descended into the basement. She didn’t have a very high opinion of Jose Porla, Wizard Saint or not.

“It’s Erza, Mira, Cana, and Natsu!”

“Gray is with them too!”

“Who’s the new girl?”

“You saw what those guys did to the guild!” Nab bit out, vaguely pointing upwards. “Damn it, those bastards.”

“Those Phantom Lord punks! Trashing our Guild!”

“We never got along with them, but this is going too far!”

“I say we should trash their Guild now!” Max spoke up loudly, his suggestion gaining some support.

“Calm down! This is Phantom Lord we’re talking about. The Council will go nuts if we start fighting each other.”

“Yo, welcome home!” Makarov greeted the returning Mages. The short old man had a mug of beer in his left hand and seemed only mildly upset about the current situation.

“Thank you, it’s good to be back.” Erza replied as she handed over the completed Quest and the Guild’s cut of the reward.

“Is this really time to be drinking?” Natsu asked, his fists clenched and his fangs noticeable as he growled.

“Just calm down,” Makarov sighed before taking a drink from his mug. “This is nothing to make a fuss over.”

“What?!” Gray clearly disagreed. Even Lucy seemed shocked by the lack of response.

“What’s so great about vandalizing an empty building?” Makarov waved off the incident. “If this is the best Phantom Lord can do then it’s not worth fighting over.”

“I disagree…” Natsu rumbled in his throat. He calmed down when Lucy took his hand and pressed herself into his side. The Celestial Spirit Mage rested her head on his shoulder and Natsu visibly relaxed a bit. “That punk wants to pick a fight; I’ll give him a fight.” Lisanna joined Lucy and pressed herself into Natsu’s opposite side. The younger Strauss sister leaning up to place a kiss on his cheek as his arm wrapped around her waist. With both of them working to ease his rage, Natsu calmed down more. He was still annoyed, but he didn’t look like he was about to explode anymore.

“Even if they started it, the Council won’t care.” Cana reminded Natsu as she pressed herself into his back. “We don’t need another hearing about our behavior, so let’s just do what Master says, alright?”

“Alright…” Natsu exhaled as he practically forced his muscles to relax and release their tension.

“Now…” Makarov looked directly at Ur. “Who might this young woman be?”

“Right,” Gray stepped forward to make introductions. “Master Makarov, this is the one that taught me Magic. Master Ur is a great Mage and will be staying with me for the foreseeable future.”

“I’d heard you’d died from your former apprentice.” Makarov looked between Gray and Ur. “It would seem that wasn’t the case.”

“Forbidden Spells are a whole different type of tricky when it comes to Magic, right?” Ur joked with the old man. “I spent the last decade in the form of enchanted ice to kill one of the Demons from the Book of Zeref.”

“…I’m gonna need more booze for this conversation.” Makarov looked at his half a mug of beer. Ur chuckled and decided she liked this old man. He sort of reminded her of her own Master back when she was a little girl. He’d been a jovial fellow, if a bit uncompromising when it came to learning Ice Magic.

“Take your time; I’ll be crashing at Gray’s place until I recover.” Ur shrugged at the Guild Master. “Speaking of, I need to do some clothes shopping. Wait…I don’t have any cash…shit.”

“I’ll take care of it Master Ur,” Gray assured his old teacher. “I’m getting a hefty paycheck from this Quest, it won’t be a problem.”

“The student providing the Master with clothes, food, and lodging…seems a little backwards, doesn’t it?” Ur laughed at her former student brightly. “Sorry to impose, Gray.”

“This much is nothing for all you’ve done for me, Master.” Gray shook his head with a smile.

“That reminds me,” Makarov grinned as he looked at Lucy. “I promised you a promotion if the Quest was completed properly.” He picked up his staff as Lucy beamed happily.

“Thank you Master Makarov!” Lucy gently left Natsu’s arm and held out her hand with the pink Guild Mark on it.

“You’ve earned it, my dear.” Makarov smiled at the blonde girl and tapped the mark with the head of his staff. “For completion of Quests in accordance with our agreement and in service to Fairy Tail, I promote Lucy Heartfilia to C-Class Mage.” The pink Fairy Tail Symbol glowed briefly. Lucy thought she saw the letter ‘C’ on it for an instant before the glow faded and her mark was normal again.

“Congratulations, Lucy.” Natsu grinned at his girlfriend brightly.

“Thank you!” Lucy chirped happily before being pulled into a group hug be her friends and housemates. She enjoyed being surrounded by so much affection and warmth. The smile on her face could’ve lit up the entire basement by itself.

-Magnolia ~ Night-

“Guys, seriously, I appreciate the sentiment, but I don’t need an escort everywhere.” Levy smiled exasperatedly at Jet and Droy. The bluenette had stayed at the Guild to help out a little late after the attack by Phantom Lord. She even lived at Fairy Hills, which housed a few other female Guild members. It wasn’t as if she was going to be alone for any real length of time.

“No can do, Levy!” Jet shook his head as they headed for the all-female dormitory building.

“Yeah, those Phantom Lord punks might know where everyone lives.” Droy worried over her. “We at least want to make sure you get to Fairy Hills first.”

I really do appreciate it, but their obvious ploy to win brownie points is a little off-putting.’ Levy thought to herself. She wasn’t sure what it was, but she had quite a few men that were interested in her. Jet, Droy, that Tablin guy that delivered goods to the Guild, a few other male Guild members. She didn’t mind much, it was nice to have admirers. The confidence it brought when surrounded by women that were curvier and far more buxom was nice.

“Look what we have here…gehehehe.” A slightly rough voice called out from the dark as footsteps were heard.

“Who’s there?!” Jet demanded as he and Droy both took stances. Droy reached for his plant seeds and a faint glow surrounded Jet. Both were ready to use their Magic to fight.

“Found me some Fairies…” The man emerged into the streetlights and all three Fairy Tail Mages’ eyes went wide.

He was a tall and muscular young man with long, spiky black hair, which was slicked back, revealing his forehead. He had red eyes with slitted dark pupils, and no visible eyebrows. Much of his exposed body was covered in sets of simple, round studs. The most visible studs were on his face, with three of them above each of his eyes, two on each side of his nose and two on his chin, just below his mouth. His ears were adorned by two sets of five earrings each. He also sported four studs on each of his forearms, with his right arm being covered in scars. He bore his Phantom Lord Mark at the top of his right shoulder in black. He wore a black, sleeveless tunic with studded edges, a studded belt around his waist, loose, beige pants tucked inside studded black boots, and a pair of studded brown gloves paired with similarly studded wristbands. He also had a distinctive wing-like ornament, seemingly made of feathers, jutting upwards, over his right shoulder, attached to his tunic by a large stud.

Black Steel Gajeel Redfox…” Droy almost audibly gulped.

“What the hell do you want?” Jet demanded of the rival Guild Mage. His harshness was clearly a mask to hide his nervousness.

“Heh…” Gajeel smirked before sniffing at the air.

He’s testing us.’ Levy was quick on the uptake, having known Natsu for years. ‘He’s picking out who is the strongest by how much Magic Power he can smell from each of us.

“You two weaklings can leave.” Gajeel waved Jet and Droy off. “Master said to make a statement that Fairy Tail couldn’t ignore. Two bottom of the barrel members aren’t going to matter.”

Gajeel’s red-eyes zeroed in on Levy and the young woman locked eyes with him. Her soft, brown-eyes met his slitted pupils unflinchingly. Something she’d learned from Natsu over the years was to never back down from a Dragon or Dragonkin. That was a sign of weakness and made you a target.

“Like hell!” Droy denied as he filled the seeds in his hand with Magic.

“We’d never abandon Levy!” Jet blurred forward toward the black-haired Mage.

“Stop!” Levy hollered even as Jet launched a high-speed kick into Gajeel’s chest. The Speed Mage then flipped backwards over the incoming Knuckle Plants that Droy had grown. The six fist-shaped vines slammed into the Phantom Lord Mage with solid thuds. Levy wasn’t fooled for even an instant. He hadn’t even been moved by Jet and Droy’s attacks. “He’s a Dragon Slayer! You’re going to get hurt!”

“Gehehehe…the girl is right.” Gajeel laughed off the two attacks, casually slicing the Knuckle Plants apart with a swiped of his arm. “If that’s the best you two can do, you’re way out of your league.” He took a step forward with a vicious grin. “Last chance, run and you won’t have to get beaten to a bloody pulp.”

“Solid Script: Chains!” Levy cast and Gajeel was bound instantly. The metal chains were literally made up of the word ‘chains’ linked together over and over again. Four lengths of metal chains wrapped around the man and each one anchored to the paved road at a different place around him.

“Ha! We’ve got you now!” Droy declared as he prepared to cast another spell.

“Great job, Levy!” Jet was about to launch himself at Gajeel again.

“I said stop!” Levy yelled and both of her teammates nearly stumbled at the sudden volume. “We can’t win this fight. You two go and get help. I’ll keep him restrained until then.”

“Levy, no!” Jet refused.

“How could you say that?!” Droy shook his head.

“I’d do what she says, chumps.” Gajeel tested the strength of the chains holding him. They were strong, probably made of good metal. “She’s stronger than both of you combined.” He laughed as he drove home just how outclassed both of them were. With a flex of his muscles and his Magic, the chains snapped and he held the broken items in his hands.

“Go!” Levy demanded, her tone leaving absolutely no room for argument. Both of her teammates looked like they wanted to object, but Levy gave them a look and they rushed off. Jet was out of sight before Droy even turned the first corner. “Solid Script…” She trailed off as she saw Gajeel biting into the chains she’d created.

“Hmm, not bad…” Gajeel mentioned, his fangs biting through the metal and chewing the chains up. Levy unconsciously held her jaw as she felt a phantom pain just from watching. “I’ve eaten plenty of metal of all types. Metal formed by Magic has a unique flavor.” He informed between bites. “Most of the time the metal is weak and bland. But yours…it’s actually pretty good.” He tossed the last few links into his mouth and chewed them up before swallowing.

“And now that you’ve eaten of your Element, you’ll power up.” Levy stated and Gajeel grinned as a green glow surrounded him for a few moments.

“You got it,” Gajeel chuckled at the woman. “Learned that from Salamander, didn’t you?”

“I’m not going to just roll over and die.” Levy informed the Iron Dragon Slayer as her Magic began to flow.

“Relax; your life’s not in any danger.” Gajeel grinned at the bluenette. “I’m just supposed to send a message. It’s not personal, little fairy, just Guild business.” With a lunge forward Gajeel struck at Levy.

I can’t hold this for more than a couple of seconds, especially not with two powerful words like this.’ Levy thought as she invoked two specific words, both appearing on her back out of Gajeel’s sight. ‘Solid Script: Invocation: Invulnerable and Immovable!’ The instant before Gajeel’s fist struck her torso, Levy felt her spell take effect. The huge drop in her Magic Reserves was a testament to how powerful her chosen words were.

Thud

The dull sound didn’t echo, didn’t ring, it was just was there and gone in an instant. What was heard was a sharp snap and Gajeel Redfox going still for a few moments. Levy’s spell dropped after only three seconds, but it had done its job.

“Mmmnnnrrrrgghhh.” Gajeel made a sound as if he was trying to stifle an exclamation of pain. He pulled his fist back from Levy’s skin, took a few steps backwards, and then his left hand came up to cradle his right arm. He took quick, sharp breaths through gritted teeth.

Levy watched on in some concern. He’d just punched an unbreakable and immovable object at full power. She was sure that snapping sound had been Gajeel’s bones. If he’s put his real Magic power behind that blow, he’d have probably won out in the battle between the strength of their two spells. Unfortunately for the Iron Dragon Slayer, he’d used only his physical strength and the durability of his Dragon Slayer Physiology.

“Are…are you okay?” Levy’s kind nature shone through as she looked at the man that had just tried to attack her.

“I’m fine…” Gajeel bit out through his clenched teeth. “No problems here…I’m good.”

“Are you trying to convince me or yourself?” Levy tilted her head at him.

“Sh-Shut up!” Gajeel barked at her. “Fuck…” He grumbled at the throbbing pain in his arm. “What the hell kind of spell was that?”

“My Solid Script is rather versatile Magic.” Levy gave a non-answer and Gajeel grinned in spite of himself. “Do you want some help with that broken bone?”

“I didn’t break anything!” Gajeel denied with a shake of his head. “I’m not so weak that a short thing like you could break my bones!”

“Uh huh…” Levy sighed at the stubbornness. It was like seeing Natsu when he got injured. Both Dragon Slayers were boneheaded to a fault when it came to their own injuries. “Well…I’d say we have another few minutes before my Guild mates swarm this place, if you want to leave.”

“I’m not scared of a pack of weaklings.” Gajeel tsked at the mere thought of running from such people.

“You know, for being a member of Phantom Lord, you’re surprisingly considerate.” Levy mentioned as she constructed a spell out of Gajeel’s sight. “Most members of your Guild would’ve attacked us without warning in the dark. They’d have beaten Jet and Droy down and then probably tried the same with me. All with rather horrible intentions, I’m sure.” She shook that thought out of her head. “But you announced yourself, let Jet and Droy go, and even assured my life.”

“I don’t need to resort to sneak attacks, ambushes, or cheap tricks to win a fight.” Gajeel took a few steps to the side and leaned against a lamppost. “Don’t lump me in with the trash that scrounges around at the bottom of Phantom Lord.”

“You ever thought of changing Guilds?” Levy questioned as her spell was completed and waiting to be cast.

“Why would I do that?” Gajeel looked at her confused.

“Because Phantom Lord is clearly promoting your worst traits and you’re still not as bad as a lot of them.” Levy slowly brought her hand up. The tip of her index finger was glowing a light-green. Gajeel tensed up, preparing to react to whatever spell she was going to cast, only to blink when she began writing in the air. The word ‘Heal’ was written out and Levy sent it towards Gajeel’s broken arm.

“The hell?” Gajeel blinked as the spell touched his arm, transferring the light-green light to his limb. In a few seconds the pain had lessened considerably as his fracture re-set properly and then partially healed.

“You might find that having actual friends is a lot better.” Levy smiled at the Iron Dragon Slayer kindly.

Gajeel stilled as he felt his heart thump in his chest. An odd feeling, one he hadn’t experienced in years, filled him. He just looked between the shrimpy girl and his partially healed arm. It still hurt to form a fist, a sharp shock of pain shooting up his arm when he tried, but it was much better than it had been just a bit ago. “What’s your name?”

“Hmm?” Levy blinked, vaguely pointing at herself out of habit. “I’m Levy McGarden.”

“I’ll remember it.” Gajeel promised with a nod. A fanged grin split his lips as he looked her over. “Short of stature, but stronger than you look, I’m surprised Salamander hasn’t snatched you up yet.”

“Wh-What’re you saying!” Levy’s felt her cheeks burn at the idea. “Just get out of here!” She pointed down the road in the opposite direction that Droy and Jet had left in.

“Sure thing…” Gajeel chuckled at the flustered girl. “This ain’t over though,” He warned her as he turned away. “I failed my task, so I have no idea how Master Jose will react or what he’ll do. He’s very intent on finishing this task that he’s accepted under the table. I’m sure we’ll meet again, but next time might be in battle.” He began to walk away down the street, his ears picking up a commotion in the distance.

“Gajeel…” Levy called out to the Dragon Slayer. He turned and caught a rectangular object that Levy had tossed to him. It was revealed to be the word ‘iron’ made of actual iron. “Dragon Slayers recover faster when they eat their Element too, right?”

“Heh…you’re an odd one, aren’t ya?” Gajeel laughed with a shake of his head. He tossed a wave over his shoulder as he disappeared into the darkness of the night. Just before he stepped out of the light, Levy saw him take a large bite out of the iron she’d given him.

“Well, at least now I have information to give to Master Makarov.” Levy sighed at the departed Dragon Slayer. For a Mage of Phantom Lord, he certainly wasn’t a horrible person. Maybe a bit ruthless, but that could also just be Phantom Lord’s negative influence.

“Levy!” Almost a dozen members of Fairy Tail cried out as they charged around the corner. The Solid Script Mage couldn’t help but smile at her Guild mates’ concern for her.

“I’m fine, you all, thank you for coming to help me though.” Levy assured the group with a smile.

“Did…did you really chase off Gajeel all by yourself, Levy?” Droy blinked as he saw neither hide nor hair of the other man.

“No way…” Jet slowly shook his head in disbelief.

“What’s so weird about that?” Levy pouted at her teammates with her arms crossed. The two were quick to try and take back their words.

“Did you really beat him, Levy?” Max questioned the book-loving girl.

“More like surprised him and then talked him out of further hostilities.” Levy shrugged as she remembered her conversation with Gajeel. “I do have some new information to give to Master Makarov, but it’s late.”

“I’m sure he’d want to know whatever you have to say as soon as possible, Levy.” Nab spoke up with an anxious look. “If it’s really important I’m sure that Master wouldn’t mind staying up to hear it.”

“It probably is better to tell him now.” Levy agreed as the group of Mages made their way towards Makarov’s home.

-Fair Tail Guild Basement ~ The Next Morning-

“What are you up to, Jose?” Makarov pondered quietly to himself. Levy’s information gotten form ‘Black Steel’ Gajeel was troubling. Phantom Lord was known to toe the line between Legal Guild and Dark Guild on occasion, but to actually accept under the table jobs implied illegal activity. Worse yet, it was being targeted at his Guild. He couldn’t for the life of him figure out what the other Wizard Saint was trying to accomplish though.

“I heard you ran off that punk Gajeel last night Levy, good job!” Natsu praised the bluenette with a wide grin. Levy’s driving off of Gajeel without a mark on her had become the talk of the Guild this morning.

“He wasn’t nearly as bad as I expected.” Levy mentioned to the group of Dragon Slayers that had practically surrounded her. Lucy was sitting at her side as the only non-Dragon Slayer at the table. “He was surprisingly reasonable after I stopped him. We actually had a conversation.”

“Are we talking about the same Gajeel that almost came to blows with Natsu the last time they met?” Mira raised one of her delicate eyebrows disbelievingly.

“The two were growling at each other like dogs last time.” Cana agreed, recalling the incident in question.

“That’s true,” Lisanna nodded before looking at her Mate with a grin. “Maybe it was because we were all there and Natsu was being territorial?”

“Hey! He started it!” Natsu defended his actions, rather poorly.

“Was that really it, Natsu?” Erza smiled warmly at him. “You just didn’t like another male Dragon Slayer around us?”

“That’s not it…” Natsu denied with a shake of his head. “We just don’t get along, that’s all.”

“That’s almost cute...” Lucy hid her giggles behind her hand. “Should I tell any future admirers to keep a healthy distance from me?”

“I said that wasn’t it…” Natsu almost pouted at the teasing, making Lisanna and Mira coo at their Mate. “Male Dragons just rarely get along with each other unless they’re related. If he wasn’t trying to challenge me to a fight all the time we wouldn’t have so many problems.”

“Weren’t you rather accepting of his challenge back then?” Erza raised an eyebrow at her Mate, a lilt in her voice that gave away her amusement. “I seem to recall you two both growling and snarling at each other shortly after meeting.”

“I’d win.” Natsu huffed and smoke escaped his nostrils for an instant.

“Boys…” Levy rolled her eyes and all of the women cracked up.

Natsu gave a lazy grin to his laughing family. He’d never get tired of seeing them happy like this. His left arm reached out and pulled Erza into his side. The redhead squeaked cutely for a moment before leaning against him with a happy smile.

“I’m still a little concerned about what Gajeel said though.” Levy admitted with a frown. “What’s Master Jose of Phantom Lord trying to do? The way he spoke, Gajeel was implying that Phantom Lord might go into an all-out war for whatever they’re up to.”

“If they try anything, we’ll give them more than they can hope to handle.” Mira declared with a glare. “They might have more members, but we have far better quality Mages here at Fairy Tail.”

BRRRRRRRRRR

A loud alarm started blaring throughout Magnolia and Lucy nearly jumped out of her seat at the sudden noise. Levy had to steady her friend as all of the members of Fairy Tail looked towards the ceiling.

“Well…that’s reassuring.” Cana chuckled as she kissed Natsu’s cheek and stood up from the table.

“He’s a little later than usual.” Lisanna noted as the rest of the Dragon Slayer family stood up too.

“What? Who? What’s going on?!” Lucy asked of the sudden commotion.

“Gildarts is back, Lucy.” Levy filled her in with a small grin of her own.

“You want to meet my old man, Lucy?” Cana asked with a smile.

“Your dad?” Lucy blinked since she’d only heard stories of Gildarts.

“Yeah, the alarm is the warning for the ‘Gildarts Shift’ since my old man can be rather absentminded sometimes.” Cana shook her head with a grin.

“What’s a Gildarts Shift?” Lucy questioned.

“Come outside and see!” Natsu took her hand and led her upstairs with everyone else.

“What happened to the town?!” Lucy exclaimed as she saw the change that Magnolia had undergone in mere minutes. There was a long, straight corridor leading from the edge of town all the way to Fairy Tail.

“Gildarts is a master of Crash Magic, so if he starts wandering around, sometimes walls that get in the way are destroyed. The town found it easier and cheaper to make the buildings movable instead of replacing so many over time.” Lisanna explained as a figure could be seen walking through the corridor in the distance.

“That’s nuts!” Lucy goggled at the sheer amount of damage Gildarts must’ve caused over the years to have the town move around him instead.

“My old man has three obvious faults, Lucy.” Cana grinned at the blonde, placing her arm around the Celestial Spirit Mage’s shoulders. “One, his wanderlust is so bad he used to disappear for several months on end without a word. Two, is the mentioned absentmindedness from being out in the wilderness for so long that he forgets to move around obstacles. Three, is being an unrepentant horn dog that likes the ladies too much.” She said the last one in a flat tone that made Lucy deadpan.

“That’s Gildarts.” Natsu laughed.

Lucy looked back down the corridor. The figure in the brown travelling cloak was closer now and she wondered what this man would be like. He was said to be the strongest Mage in Fairy Tail, perhaps even stronger than Master Makarov was. Everyone seemed to agree on his power and their confidence made Lucy believe that whatever Phantom Lord was planning, they were about to run into a large roadblock.

Levy is a badass!

Did Gajeel’s heart just go Doki Doki?!

Now that Fairy Tail hasn’t been antagonized into action, what will Jose do to try and acquire Lucy? Send Juvia and Sol after her like in Canon?

Dropping two S-Class Mages into the Dragon’s Den…seems like an unwise choice.

Also…Gildarts is back~

Try it Phantom Lord…I fucking DARE you!

Keep reading to find out!

Until I get your reviews, later!

................Porla is several bright colors of fucked, isn't he? He's totally going to attack Fairy tail while Gildarts is there like a total rusty tool, isn't he?

dudeitschill

that was a good chapter and I agree with Tristan having gildarts be home for the phantom lord fight is probably gonna make it go a lot worse for phantom can’t wait to read it

Pheonix774

Another amazing chapter. I have to agree with Tristan on Porla's future actions. He is a self-centered jackass that will stop at nothing to get what he wants. I'm surprised the Council didn't investigate him before the guild war. I have a feeling i know how Lucy is going to choose her dragon slayer element in the next few chapters. Correct?

Matlef

I started laughing when the Gildarts alarm went off. I'm just picturing Gildarts walking up to Porla's giant cannon (he has to be compensating for something with that) and just breaking it like it's nothing.

Kairomaru

Jose: "Fire the Jupiter Cannon!" *Giant beam of Magic headed for Fairy Tail* Gildarts: "Yeah...no. Crash!" *Giant beam disperses into bits of light*

Joe The squatch

Im just interested to see what scheme Jose comes up with to extract lucy, and if he does end up sending people to try and take her from her home, well... an image came to my mind, of lucy just standing there calmly while the outline of four large dragons looms protectively over here and an even larger one looms over them all with anger in its eyes

Damion D

Hope the next chapter comes out soon and I think Lucy would make a good Ocean dragon slayer

Александр Есипенок

Eh, and I was hoping for adding Levy to Natsu, well. a person can't have everything...not in this story at least. ;-)
