“Oh, Nami!” Sanji noddled his way over with his one visible eye shaped like a heart. “I made Pommes Paille for you, mademoiselle!” He handed her the plate, still carrying three others that were obviously for the other women. “Please, try it.”

Nami smiled as she took the plate and the for that was on it. She stabbed some of the thinly sliced potatoes and put them in her mouth. “Mmm, it’s delicious!”

“Oh? Snack time?” Vivi smiled as she walked over and set up her own lounge chair.

“Thank you, Mr. Chef.” Robin grinned as she copied Vivi, setting up a lounge chair on the opposite side of Nami.

“Wait for me!” Mikita grinned as she placed her lounge chair on the opposite side of Robin’s.

All four ladies were happily lounging with their own plates of Paille a moment later.

“It’s great, Sanji!” Vivi praised with a bright smile, taking another bite.

“It’s lovely.” Robin grinned as she enjoyed the simple dish.

Mikita took a second bite with a thoughtful hum. “Not bad at all for only using potatoes and cheese. Vegetable oil to fry them up, right?”

“Yes, Miki-chwan!” Sanji twirled around once with a smile. “A little sea salt as well for flavor, of course!” He couldn’t contain himself with the praise from the four women. “JOY!!!”

Zoro started awake and zeroed in on Sanji immediately. “Shut it! How am I supposed to sleep?!” He wasn’t happy to be woken up from his nap.

Sanji didn’t even look at Zoro as he waved him off. “Yeah, yeah. Sorry about that, Marimo!”

“What was that, Dartbrow?!” Zoro shot back as he stood up.

“Huh?” Sanji looked over his shoulder at Zoro.

In the next instant the two were fighting on the lower deck while throwing insults back and forth.

“Hey! You have food?!” Luffy was hanging over the railing as he watched his lovers eat.

Nami giggled at him. “It’s Pommes Paille, shoe string potatoes.”

“Say ‘aaahhh’~” Vivi smiled warmly at Luffy as a forkful of the Paille was held out towards Luffy.

“Aaahhh…” Luffy opened his mouth, letting Vivi feed him. “Mmm! These’re great!” He pulled himself up over the railing to kiss Vivi for sharing her food with him. The princess eagerly reciprocating with a cute giggle. “Sanji! I want potatoes too!”

“Shut up, shitty Captain!” Sanji kicked Zoro backwards. “There’s some in the kitchen for you guys. Guh!” He was nearly tackled by Zoro and had to block a punch aimed for his face.

In a short time, Luffy, Chopper, and Usopp were sitting on the railing of the Going Merry eating plates of Paille as well.

“These’re good potatoes!” Chopper praised as he ate another forkful. “But what’s Paille mean?”

Usopp, seeing the chance to fib, spoke up. “Paille refers to a secret method of cooking that I showed Sanji back in the East Blue!”

Chopper’s eyes widened. “Really, Usopp?! You were actually able to teach Sanji something about cooking?!”

“Of course! I’m Usopp, master of a hundred talents!” Usopp declared as he dramatically posed on the railing.

“Wow!” Chopper cheered for Usopp with sparkles in his eyes.

Luffy perked up as something entered his passive Observation range. “Hm?” He looked up from his plate, still eating, and saw a massive frog swimming through the ocean. “Eh? A giant frog doing the front crawl?!”

“Don’t be a doofus, Luffy.” Usopp looked at Luffy like he was dumb to try such a ridiculous fib. “Frogs can’t do the front crawl…” Usopp saw the frog and blinked once. “It’s doing the front crawl!” He pointed at the giant frog in shock.

“Get the oars ready!” Luffy declared loudly, quickly finishing off his Paille. “We’re going after it!”

Sanji, Chopper, Zoro, and Usopp quickly got out the oars and started rowing.

“Turn the ship to two o’ clock!” Luffy ordered as he took Sanji’s place on one of the oars. The Going Merry began to turn as Sanji controlled the whip staff and turned the rudder.

“Hey! Who said you could turn the ship?!” Nami demanded angrily at the men.

“Listen, Nami! There’s a giant frog over there doing the front crawl while covered in scars! We’re going to barbecue it!”

“You’re going to eat it?!” Chopper yelled at Luffy in shock.

Nami sighed and extended her Observation until she heard the almost frenetic ‘voice’ of an animal in the water. Using her binoculars she looked in that direction to see what Luffy was chasing. “That’s a big frog…” She didn’t much care that it was doing the front crawl. “Is that a lighthouse?”

Indeed, in the distance, a lighthouse seemingly sat in the middle of the ocean for no discernable reason.

“You see an island?” Luffy asked as he looked up at Nami.

Nami shook her head once. “No, just a lighthouse. I don’t see any island and the Log Pose isn’t pointing that way either.”

“What about the frog?!” Luffy questioned next, much to either the dismay or the amusement of his nakama.

“Fufufu… The frog is also heading for the lighthouse.” Robin smiled down at Luffy.

“To cook frog you should first soak it in white wine to remove the slime, then dust it in flour and deep fry it.” Sanji rattled off a simple recipe for frog that he knew.

Mikita facepalmed. “Don’t encourage him…” She wasn’t exactly a fan of frog, having tried it once many years ago.

“Full speed ahead!” Luffy declared loudly.

“Aye-aye!” Zoro, Usopp, Chopper, and Sanji called out.

“What’s with the sudden unity?!” Nami yelled at the men.

Vivi perked up and looked out towards the sea in a different direction than where the frog was headed. “Do you all hear that?”

Ding Ding Ding Ding

“Stop!” Robin called out loudly as the massive frog jumped out of the water and landed atop something just below the waves. “We’ll run aground!”

The sound was much louder now and all of them looked over at the MASSIVE ship barreling towards them. It was made of black iron and poured out a massive amount of smoke from the large vertical stack on top.

Thankfully, Robin’s call to stop had come in time.

A large wave buffeted the bow of the Going Merry as the strange ship passed them by at speed.

“GERO!!!” The huge frog was standing right in the vessel’s way.

“Watch out, frog!” Luffy yelled but the huge amphibian slammed it’s front legs into the metal guard at the front of the strange ship. The iron bent a little, but the speed and force were simply too great to overcome.

“Gero!” The frog was knocked aside, flying a large distance before splashing back down into the ocean.

“What is that iron beast?!” Chopper cried out in shock as the long vessel was still going past the Going Merry and the displaced air was hitting them as a gale.

Usopp was gaping at the fast moving vessel. “Is that a ship?!”

Nami shook her head quickly. “No! A vessel shaped like that could never sail the seas!”

“It’s a train.” Robin spoke once the long vessel had continued on down the barely visible tracks just below the waves. “Only truly industrial islands usually have them, but they’re supposed to only travel over the land.” She’d never seen anything like this before.

Suddenly, a new voice was heard.

“Huh?! Pirates?!” A little blonde girl pointed at the Jolly Roger on the Going Merry’s main mast. “Grandma! It’s pirates!” She yelled into the train station/lighthouse.

Are you sure, Chimney?!” A much older woman jogged out of the station. “Hold on then!” She stepped back inside for a second and emerged with a Transponder Snail in her hands.

“What a bother.” Zoro grimaced, seeing the commotion. “They’re probably calling for reinforcements.”

“Oh, hello?” The old lady had already dialed the number and had the receiver up to her mouth. “Umm… I forgot what I was going to say… Hic.”

“Are you drunk?!” Usopp and Zoro barked at the old woman.

“Shishishishi!” Luffy laughed and smiled at the old woman and the little girl. “Let’s go talk to them! They don’t mean us any harm!”

In a few minutes the Straw Hats were docked next to the train station platform and talking with the old woman and her granddaughter, Sanji happily shared the remaining Paille with them both, giving them a smile.

“I’m Chimney!” The little girl introduced herself with a bright smile. Chimney was a young and vibrant girl with a sunny personality. She wore her blonde hair in pigtails that seemed to stand upward, and were puffy at the end, along with sandals and a short white shirt over a striped dress, of horizontal orange and red stripes. “This is my cat, Gonbe…” She introduced the rabbit at her feet. It was clearly a rabbit, long ears and everything, but none of the adults felt like correcting the girl. “And my granny, Kokoro!” She motioned to the old lady.

“Ngagagaga!” Kokoro laughed as she accepted the Paille. “Paille, eh? It’ll go great with my drink!” She hefted the wine bottle to show the pirates. Kokoro had a wide smile on her face, was a bit overweight, and had long blonde hair like Chimney that was frazzled looking. She wore a tall and slightly bulbous conductor’s hat, a purple vest over a white button-up shirt, beige pants with red tulip designs on the knees, black shoes, and a red coat slung over her shoulders. “I’m glad you folks aren’t train robbers! Ngagagaga!”

Luffy grinned at the pair as he introduced himself. “I’m Luffy, the future King of the Pirates!”

“Really?!” Chimney looked at him in surprise.

“Yeah.” Luffy nodded at her.

“Ngagaga!” Kokoro laughed. “You’re an interesting chap!”

Nami approached Chimney with a curious look. “Hey, Chimney, what kind of train was that?”

Chimney got a wide smile on her face before she giggled. “Heeheehee!” She put her hands on her hips. “Bet you’ve never seen anything like it, right?! You could look all over the world, but it’s only found here! That’s the Sea Train! We also call it the ‘Puffing Tom’!”

“Puffing Tom?” Mikita tilted her head at the name.

“It uses a steam engine to travel along the tracks!” Chimney explained while pointing to the tracks just below the water. “The train circles through the same places every day, taking riders from island to island! It even hauls boats and delivers mail!” The young girl pointed at the buoys lined on either side of the tracks. “We keep the tracks portioned off. It would be dangerous to bring a ship in there!”

Luffy crossed his arms with a sigh. “Yeah, but a frog wouldn’t know that. How cruel of you to blast him away! Plus, we were hunting him!”

Chimney looked a little put out. “Oh…that’s Yokozuna. He causes a lot of problems here at Shift Station. He wants to test his strength and always tries to defeat the Sea Train. That hit from before wasn’t enough to do him in…he’ll be back soon enough!”

“A test of strength! So that’s why he didn’t run away! He’s pretty gutsy!” Luffy grinned at Yokozuna’s tenacity.

“But it’s a real pain for us. The rail guards keep getting broken! Plus, our customers get scared when they see Yokozuna.” Chimney said with the pouting tone of a child.

“Is that right? Cool!” Luffy liked the giant frog even more now! “I’m not gonna eat him then. I could never eat something with that much determination.”

“That’s what made you change your mind?” Nami deadpanned at him. “It’s still a frog.”

“So…” Kokoro took another pull from her bottle. “Where are you all headed to?” She looked the Straw Hats over for a moment. “If you were to take the Sea Train from here…you could reach St. Poplar, the town of the spring queen. Or Pucci, the gourmet city. How about the carnival town of San Faldo? They’re all fun!”

Luffy only took a second to respond. “I’m up for the gourmet city.”

Both Nami and Mikita lightly slapped the back of Luffy’s head while most of the crew either chuckled or rolled their eyes at their glutton of a captain.

“We should stick to the Log.” Nami reminded Luffy. “Besides, we have an Eternal Pose to that St. Poplar place if we ever need to go there.”

Kokoro perked up a little at the mention of the Straw Hats’ Log Pose. “Oh? Where are you headed?”

Nami lined up the needle with her eye. “If going by the cardinal directions, just north of here.”

“I see. Then you’ll be going to Water Seven!” Kokoro informed the crew. “That Sea Train you saw just came from Blue Station on that island. It’s a great place, nice enough to be called the City of Water. It’s a bustling city known for its shipbuilding industry. The technology there is some of the best in the world!” She saw the eyes of a few of the Straw Hats light up and continued with a laugh. “Ngagaga! Commissions for ships to be built there even come in from the World Government.”

Usopp smiled at Kokoro brightly. “So that must mean they have some great shipwrights there!”

“Ngagaga! Not just great ones. They have the world’s best shipwrights, all gathered in one place!” Kokoro said with complete certainty.

“Luffy!” Usopp looked at Luffy with a big smile on his face.

“Yeah!” Luffy agreed with a big smile of his own. “All right, it’s decided! We’re going to Water Seven! And we’ll find a shipwright to join our crew!”

Kokoro laughed and headed inside for a couple of minutes. When she came back out she had two folded up pieces of paper in her hand. “Here, take these! A simple map of the city and a letter of introduction! Get them to fix up your ship real nice! Water Seven is a huge town, so don’t get lost!”

“We’re going back to Water Seven soon too!” Chimney declared with a smile.

“Oh yeah. If we meet again, I’ll treat you to a drink! Ngagaga!” Kokoro laughed brightly.

“Really? Then I hope we see each other again!” Zoro grinned back at the old woman. He wasn’t going to turn down a free drink!

Kokoro grinned at the swordsman before turning her attention to Nami. “The Log Pose takes one week to reset at Water Seven, so be sure to enjoy some leisure time while you’re there!”

The Straw Hats were quickly back aboard the Going Merry and Nami had them on course in short order. “We’re off!”

“Thank you for all of the information that you gave us, Ms. Kokoro and Chimney!” Vivi gave the two a polite bow as the Going Merry began to sail away.

“Set sail!” Luffy threw his fist into the air while standing on Merry’s figurehead.

Chimney waved with both arms above her head. “Be careful!”

Kokoro raised her bottle up as if she were toasting to their short voyage north. “Watch out for the government people that use the island!”

Luffy and Robin consummate their new relationship and Robin is quickly welcomed into the ‘family’ once she realizes just WHY Nami, Mikita, and Vivi all happily share Luffy (and each other)! Lol!

The week of sailing between Long Ring Long Land and Water Seven was filled with pleasant weather (for the Grand Line) so the girls and Luffy got just a LITTLE frisky with their free time! Hehehe~

Now they’ve seen the Puffing Tom and met both Kokoro and Chimney!

The Straw Hats are sailing for Water Seven, will the next Arc play out the same or go very differently?
