A few great callbacks in this episode- the “carve it” was also done at the beginning of the first episode of this season, but it seemed to have darker/violent connotations as opposed to here, and “somewhere not here” was the name of the first episode of season 1. It might come up in your Reddit searchings, but I heard that in the manga, it specifies that Olmar actually sold roughly half of the farm/wealth related to the farm to help compensate the families of the farmers that died helping in the fight. This really could have been the finale, but today’s episode was a great final wrap up and set up for what’s to come- hopefully season 3 won’t take 4 years lol

I think Cnute seeing the severed head is a metaphor for how he's feeling, rather than literally him being a schizophrenic hearing voices, but my interpretation could be totally wrong. Similarly, we sometimes see Thorthin hearing his dead dad talk to him, or askalad talk to him; i don't think that implies Thorthin is literally hearing their voices, but a poetic way to show their influence on him? Again, could be totally wrong.

The "somewhere not here" thing is what TV Tropes calls "arc words" which means a word or phrase that appears throughout an arc as a motif. "Save the Cheerleader, save the world." I first picked up on that when the subreddit had a link to another site but the link text was that phrase. The fans seem to like that phrase. I do too

I think you're probably right, especially since otherwise they're REALLY dogging out a historical figure with that kind of slander. LOL
