I haven't drawn this character in a while, but felt compelled to do so this month. Currently without a name, this is a hunter designed by Satellite 09. She's much more lithe than Elayne, and that makes her really fun to draw.

My favourite part of this painting is the area around the shoulder. There's this natural mix of colours present, with a bit of green, blue, and red caught within the strokes. It's subtle, but you can also see this happening inside the red of the coat and in the shadow of the sleeve around the wrist. You'll often find that the best classical paintings have this effect, which mimic how we perceive colour. Although you might not realize it, there is often more than one colour in any object you're looking at. Like snow, it's never pure white.

Something about this piece feels a bit missing, however. I could probably have spent more time on the early development stage to make something more dynamic, but I felt rushed to get this done quickly. I also made a mistake with the depiction of the arm - an element that was arguably better in my initial sketch - and that flattens it a bit. But I didn't realize until I had committed so much of my time to rendering. Hopefully it doesn't impact the piece too much for other people.

Don't forget to eat & sleep.
