My favorite part of this show is how everyone who watches this show goes from “get this girl off the screen” in episode 1 to “kana supremacy” for the rest of the show and it’s 100% valid. Team kana since day 1!

I personally don't think Aqua should "Apologize" But he definitely should make sure it is clear that Akane is a public work girlfriend. As he has actively shown that he really likes Kana, and he is intelligent enough to pick up on Kana's distance to him. He's even hurt by how distant she's been recently and he has to know the reason why even with his comments of becoming more of a teenager than the adult he was before, his perception for people has to of stayed. I love Aqua and enjoy that this group gives him such a hard time because I know when this group is on his side they will be more staunch supporters than anyone. Kana x Aqua is strong because Kana is best girl. I enjoy that this episode really showed Ruby bonding with Mem more by herself rather aqua putting Mem in B Komachi (All aqua did was give her an in) As I don't want aqua to be the reason why everyone joins and I think Ruby pointing out that all the girls that have joined so far are Aqua's type is some foreshadowing for something....not sure yet but it has to be something I'm just too distracted to think of it.

100% agree with Adorkable. I think Aqua should apologize, he really be thinking and acting like a teenager now. He said what he said with the full intent to make Kana feel bad while He has a very public relationship with Akane.

2023-06-15 05:39:22 Since you guys were using the words "leader" and "center" interchangeably, I just want to correct that they are not the same thing in this industry. In the west, we will say the leader of the group b/c they are the most popular, but thats not how it works in their industry. The leader is someone who leads and represents the group both in public and behind the scenes, whether its for interviews, group morale, public speaking, communication between group & company, etc. The center is someone who takes the center of performances. They draw the audience, whether its their performance, charisma, etc. Since its 2 separate positions just wanted to explain. The same person can of course be both center and leader, but not always. Its actually pretty similar to how kpop groups have positions. Adorkable is familar with kpop so if I were to compare it to kpop, she would understand. A group like EXO, the leader is Suho, but center is Kai. Then you have a group like (G)I-DLE, where the leader and center is both Soyeon. Every member has a position or multiple positions. My prediction is Kana will be main vocalist, Mem as leader, and Ruby main dancer. I'm still unsure of who center will be, it feels like its leaning towards Kana, she feels charismatic, but it could easily be Mem if we are going based upon popularity, or Ruby for her dancing.

In this case for Kana, I think she overreacted. She's a veteran in showbiz, thus she should know very well that, "Once you're on screen, you are acting." She does that all the time. So her being jealous with Aqua acting out a persona on screen is unreasonable. It's like she got jealous when Aqua acted in a movie and had intimacy with another actress on screen. You see how ridiculous that sounds now? But that's my take on this.

If you ask me, she feels lied to. Kana is reading everything Aqua says to her now as total cap, and he says it to every other girl he wants something from. She's been jealous of Akane but never acted out on it until this ep, only after she started feeling betrayed. To put things in a better perspective, Kana has been in the industry since a child and the same people that praised her, now don't care about her anymore because she's "washed out". Now she looks up to Aqua as a fantastic actor who knows what he's doing. When Aqua says something, he usually means it and the things he says, she holds in high regard and it's even amplified due to her liking him. The girl already has depression and an inferiority complex, this is just her putting up barriers again. She seemed to put them down when Aqua and her met again in ep 3.

Just wanted to say she's blinded by her feelings for Aqua. No matter what Aqua told her, he told her off screen. Those are his true feelings and he doesn't lie to her. However when he is on screen, he is acting. I'm not sure if I remembered correctly that he told Kana that it was his persona on screen and not his true self on earlier episodes. So if she took that on screen "acting" as real and felt jealous about it, that's not even Aqua's fault.

I hear you, but to the public and Kana included, Aqua and Akane are indeed dating. That's even after telling her about how everything on screen is just acting. Remember that he has now given 2 reasons why he couldn't be dating Akane. One reason was ep 4 when she asked if he had a GF, he said "nah that he doesn't want any scandals or problems". She took that as him being single and not interested in girls for now. 2nd time was ep 8 when she was invited to the park and he said that the show was only a job, and that he's just there for work, and not any of the couples stuff. Logically speaking, (which is how Kana reads everything) there is 0 reason for him to be fake dating Akane or even kiss her which is objectively true.

Thats the thing though, Kana is close to Aqua its not that hard to just ask him if they actually started dating or its just for the show. I understand that she feels led on but it so easy to ask him, especially when they had that talk about him not being interested in anyone on the show. Simple example "Aqua I though you weren't interested in anyone on the show, are you dating Akane just for the viewers?". If she doesnt want to directly ask Aqua, easy solution just ask Ruby or even Mem-cho if they know if its real or just a business relationship

I think only Aqua and Akane know they aren't for real, everyone else assumes it's legit. And while it would be easy to ask Aqua, she already feels inferior, depressed, not good enough, and the "worst". I've noticed in her speech recently, she'll describe herself and situations as "the worst" in a jokingly manner. Could be a stretch, but I think it's cry for help as to how she really sees herself. Her mental health has been down very bad since she was a child but she's been hiding it extremely well to the point where she looks normal.

No you are on point, Kana's character is very pessimistic and she is also really hard on herself as we saw this episode with her karaoke score being 97, and she still says she is bad at singing. Also I dont think its a cry for help, but more like a survival tactic bc in the entertainment industry, even if someone has the talent its still really hard to make it. What Im trying to say is neither Aqua nor Kana is at fault, its just a lack of proper communication.

Sure, I agree, but this is an anime, and is premeditated with a script so things like that are no coincidence or put on the screen just for laughs, you know? At least is what I've noticed with queer characters on TV and how writers tease them. But this is Japanese so it could just be me reaching, lol.
