I don’t think that you we’re not too off on them being broke though. From what I understood of it is that they lost about 80% of the legitimate money. However they still have the illegal money in cash. So they’re kinda broke but not like MC hammer broke if that makes any sense lol.

The shelbys aren’t even kinda broke. Hell in season 3 they had 1 vault stacked to the ceiling with cash. Who knows how much cash they have now for tommy to tell his family not to worry about the crash because cash will be king and a bunch of cash we have. Polly told john in season 3 every crime family is paying the Peaky blinders in their area I highly doubt that stopped with all the power they have now

Totally disagree about Lizzie. She's thinking of her kids' future and security (including Grace's son) and any good Mom would do that. Sure she "knew what she was getting into" but that doesn't mean she didn't have certain expectations when Tommy became a member of parliament and it doesn't mean she can't or shouldn't want better. Particularly because of where she came from. Any good Mom wants a better future for her kids. Better than she had. That's not about knowing what you got into - it's about knowing what your husband could be. Nothing is set in stone - people can change and Tommy gave her reason to believe that could happen. I love her for her brash, fierce protectiveness. The kids need that, especially when they apparently never see their father. I'm not going to fault her for wanting more.

Can we just take a moment to appreciate the dedication of what Arthur's actor puts his body through? He was always thin, but he started doing that powder and the ACTOR got thinner. Now look at him last season. He and Linda had been living away from everyone and he was living a quiet peaceful life and he started putting on some weight and looking healthier. Now he's back with the blinders running gang shit and on the drugs again and that little bit of weight he put on is gone! Also just his overall energy, the fact that he acts with his whole body and just always seems like he's barely holding himself back from just murdering everyone.

I agree with you that there’s nothing wrong with Lizzie wanting better and wanting the kids to be safe. However Lizzie knew what kind of person Tommy was way before he became rich. Also this is my personal opinion that it undermines your happiness to have or set expectations of people and expect them to treat you in a way want them to treat you. Especially if they show you what kind of person they actually are and it’s the opposite of your expectations. It’s not like tommy lied to her . The truth was right there in front of her . In the end she chose this life and Tommy.

Soooooo just to offer a little bit of clarification on this, Michael did lose Tommy QUITE a bit of money, but like the Shelbys are doing just fine in both the gang shit and the legitimate side. The Stock Market Crash that caused the great depression did hurt them, but it only hurt their American businesses. All of their domestic stuff both in the underground and the legitimate side are still working at full capacity. I hope that helps to clear things up. Sorry, I don't mean to be throwing any fuel on a fire or anything like that 😅

I may be super biased here but I legit think that Lizzie is the only one with the fortitude to stand beside Tommy on an equal level. I see where she's coming from.

That I agree with. For the children’s safety I also agree with. It’s everything else outside of that I don’t agree with. Truth be told though I honestly think she deserves better and can do better than Tommy.

Always love your discussions at the end, all great valued points even if they differ slighty ffrom one another. Always so respectful of each other. Linda and Lizzie are very diiferent in what they want from their men. Linda always wanted to change Arthur to fit her so called perfect image of a husband. Now she just sees an opportunity for Arthur to take over and be Tommy which will never happen. Lizzie in contrast loved Tommy right from the start and loved him for who he was. They would have never married in my oppinion if she had not fallen pregnant. Now she wants him to stop and enjoy the wealth and comfort that Tommy has provided and enjoy life together, (no woring in wanting that!). As we know Tommy can't do that, his ambitions (rightfully or wrongly) are limitless and he does not know how to stop. So i feel sorry for Lizzie, inpart, because she just wants a happy fear free life for the family which she is constantly battling Tommy to get.

We agree on somethings, I just don't agree with the concept of "she knew what she was getting into" being used as a means to silence her (not saying you are, but that's what I see a LOT). Because yes she did, and we saw her being okay with that for years. It was only when she had kids that she started expecting different things. There comes a point where she *should* say "yes, I know you're what you are and I married you knowing that, but now I need to put the safety of our kids first." I don't see anything wrong with that.
