With that line it was clear they wanted Billy original character to be racist but they lowered the undertone because of the actor and the way he portrayed the role so its kind of just him being an asshole

im pretty sure the writers did intend for billy to be racist and call lucas the n word or at least something of that nature but the actor wasnt comfortable with it so they changed it

Yea it honestly could be seen as that but I never heard the lines “it’s over” or “we’re breaking up” so in my eyes Steve just wanted some space and time to think and Nancy took it a different way, which is okay but it’s a lack of communication which, debatably, can be seen as cheating lol. I’ve never seen, or heard from my friends, of breaking up with a girl without saying “I don’t want to be in a relationship anymore” or something along those lines

Not even. Originally it was supposed to be Jonathan and Will’s dad helping Jonathan and nancy. I think steve was supposed to die even earlier. But if I’m not mistaken they ultimately decided not to give the redemption moment to a father who basically abandoned his kids

yea it just sucks cuz steve rly was a good person who had some shitty friends in the beginning and Nancy was having her guilt with barb and all. Steve was kinda out of the loop in the beginning so she got close to jonathan and its just a whole teenage drama. its just sad to see that steve did want to make up but Nancy already moved on from him...in like a few days lol

I think Steve at times in the dialog with Nancy was frustrated and made it seem that he was also done with there relationship. When in reality he still needed time to think it over. But they were for sure not together. Johnathan and Nancy's relationship progressed too fast because of the "share trauma" trope that build strong bonds in movies and TV series.

I remember watching this the first time as soon as Billy showed up I was worried for Steve. Steve is the GOAT but Johnathan gave him that work in season one. Fighting demigorgons, give me Steve with a bat in his had any day but a straight up fist fight.😔

Didn’t know not saying “I love you” in a high school relationship you’ve been in for MAYBE a year was obv for a break up💀😂 A show can muddy up details, that’s why people thought she cheated because they were never clear about it.(Steve didn’t care IF she cheated cause in that moment he kinda gave up on the relationship so it didn’t matter to him.. not a hard concept to put together)

They are not, Steve knows absolutely NOTHING about Nancy, he doesnt know that her worst fear is to end up like her parents, which would happen if she had stuck with Steve, lol. Steve is in love with the idea of Nancy, not Nancy herself. And Nancy has never been in love with Steve, she only saw him as someone to have fun with but never a serious thing, Jonathan and Nancy actually built a friendship first before becoming a couple and took time to get to know each other, Jonahtan and Nancy will ALWAYS BE BETTER.

Nh, that's wrong. Steve is in love with Nancy and always has been. Jonathan only knows about Nancys biggest fear because Nancy told him when they were searching for the Demigorgon, it's not Steve's fault she never told him. Jonathan loves Nancy as well but Steve 100% loves her, not just the idea of her.

Nah he loves the idea of her because you can't love someone you don't know, Steve doesn't know Nancy, not on a deep level, all the things he knows about her are surface level superficial stuff, an image of herself that she presents to the world but isn't really her, that's why every instance of Steve trying to get close to Nancy ended in failure. Also it doesn't matter HOW Nancy told Jonathan her biggest fear but that she felt comfortable enough with him TO tell him, in a way she had never felt comfortable with Steve. And yes I have watched ALL seasons of the show and still stand by this statement.

Also just wanted to add, you don’t need to say slurs to be racist! people show it in their actions that are more indirect which are micro aggressions, when he said “people like that” it wouldn’t make sense in context with any of the other kids and when he came into the house he didn’t care about anyone else being there so it wasn’t about Max having ANY friends it was about Lucas specifically. Anyways love the reactions can’t wait for season 3!

Lol….as a black guy. I am aware lol. “people like that” We fully grasp the concept of why people say that’s the line of proof and y’all are probably right. Personally I would still wanna hear more. I remind people of the boys s1 ep 8. We are often just hesitant of throwing a label on someone without proof beyond a reasonable doubt. So Director was looking for “the smoking gun” and there was none from our view point. We never saw much commentary about Max’ other friends besides Lucas. Publically applying a label such as that and getting wrong….just not cool.
