I agree with you that they should totally throw out Caribou, lmao But just in general when it comes to these fictitious worlds, we never know how a character will affect things, sometimes in our favor. We actually have a very good example for that. Crocodile. A lot of people wanted to see him dead at the end of Alabaster arc. Then later in White Beards War he actually ends up saving Luffy's life. You never know. I felt the same way though, i remember thinking. "Just throw out the stupid barrel screw that piece of shit."

I would say ignore the "pacing issue" many people tries to say. They are talking about from the perspective of a weekly watch from back then not like binging episodes (also from the fact that anime almost caught up with manga in that point). You would rarely see that happening as you are watching more episodes than just one episode a week. Also can people shut up about pacing.... i dont think YBRl would've noticed any kind of pacing issue (may be rarely) if everyone wasnt screaming out of their lungs about it but now subconsciously will just look for pacing problem... man these people just want to put their opinion on others ..let them construct their own opinion first
