Diablo is a much higher being than archesemons. He's pretty much alpha and omega of demons. So that mage isn't that dumb considering primordial demon is basically cosmic horror. A mere human can't even fathom how powerful he is.

The one we just saw is the Primordial called Noir, which means he's also the 2nd strongest of all the Primordials. Only Rouge is stronger than, Noir. Even if Noir is a Primordial, he's still an Archdemon, which are still the highest ranking of the Demon Hierarchy. Primordials are just Archdemon individuals who'd established the 7 oldest families of Archdemons.

fyi : that demon is Primordial Demon (the highest of demons ranks) and there are just 7 primordials who exist.
