The symbol inside the pendant is the symbol of Freya Familia, FYI. It basically prevented a 1HKO on Bell. Normally he would had passed out from the spell attack, but the pendant basically prevented 1HKO, leaving him basically w/ 1HP or w/e.

Interesting thing I learned about this anime is it's actually somewhat historically accurate at least in this arc with all the character references one of which is Cassandra who just like her myth was a prophetess who's visions were always true but no one would listen or believe.
