Disagree here. Even having one of the otherworlders to question (voluntarily or via torture) would be huge in terms of getting info. These other countries have far less info than Japan on what is on the other side and the potential benefits of it. Director was talking about the 6000 captives, but those are Japan's prisoners. It's not like other countries had access to them. Of course, if the benefits of seizing the gate is big enough, their next step is likely to wage war against Japan or otherwise pull other political moves to make sure they can get in on the resources. There's also the darker side where they would potentially want to dissect an elf or a demi-god to figure out how they are alive for so long to gain secrets of immortality or whatnot

Strictly head canon, but the way I see it is souls enter this world through the womb, so souls leave this world through the womb. Just imagine how that feels, getting a full blown Soul Nakadashi, of course she wants more.

Director hit the nail on the head for me. The biggest plot weakness in this series was the weird goals of China, Russia, and the US. Not to mention the psychotic actions of that president conducting black ops in freaking Japan. There didn't seem to be an end goal, they can't negotiate because the otherworlders couldn't go back without returning to the gate in Japan, they gain nothing from it. Weakest plot point of the series for me, everything was ok up until then but this part felt so out of place, like what would China, russia, or the US do with a coule random girls from another world, it's not like any of them offer something transformative to the situation. I felt like it would have been better to lay off the melodrama in the Diet and between the other countries, and save that nonsense for the special region.
