Hey guys I read a lot of appreciation for episode 7 season 3.

I read a few comments talking about it being their favorite episode of the season ?

I’m asking you guys really loved Subaru speech over with the chaos and carnage these villains have been putting in ?

There’s absolutely no wrong answer

these things fascinate me to read how different episodes and characters impact people differently

And it also helps me understand why sometimes the community doesn’t like my unfiltered raw reactions

Because I’m so down with the villains in this show 😂😂😂.

Loved this season

To be clear I do think it was a good episode I personally would’ve favored the first six episodes more but I might be in the minority and I’m just curious of what people have to say

Personally I enjoyed how the speech was the culmination of Subaru's growth over the past seasons. I know most people initially really dislike him at the beginning of the story and seeing that notion being turned on its head is just hella rewarding. But yes the archbishops are an entertaining bunch except for maybe Diddylus 🤣

As an anime-only, I am with you and enjoyed the chaos that happened with the villains much more. I didn't really care much about the speech tbh but I understand it's important for the story to build a climax so I'm patient.

Yaboyrocklee

I felt validated because it truly was the culmination of everything as you pointed out

Yaboyrocklee

Exactly. The speech made sense with setting the tone and capitalizing on what we have achieved. As well as highlighting the growth and maturity of both Emeila and Subaru

I liked the speech, but as I am more into the mystery surrounding Re:Zero story this episode didn't really progress that aspect, but making Subaru embrace his role for what it will be in future with his speech. Watch Re:Zero kara Hajimeru Break Time 3rd Season short episodes as they really have information given in them that somehow they don't give in the anime. They are 2,5min in length so very short per episode. I would recommend checking them out after next episode of Re:Zero and the just watch all the break time episodes to get the info what they give.

i think dialogue heavy episodes are where rezero excels. the latest episode, rem's speech, emilia trials, convincing beatrice to get out the library, subaru and his parents episode... all are examples of amazing moments that hit deep like no other isekai (hell even series) can do. voicing the troubles of the weak really wins you over and strucks a cord in you because it's so relatable. on the other hand this episodes are so impactful because they're the climax after the despair caused by non other than these goated villains. so in the end to make it short: dope villains with dope voice acting and animation give us troubled characters that make goated speeches

I like the chaos and dread but main reason i watch this show is Subaru's growth. This is why my favorite episodes of s1 is Rem and Subaru talking, favorite episode of s2 is Subaru and Satella talking with no baddies present(In fact antagonist of those episodes are bad sides of Subaru). Both are huge milestones in Subaru growing as a person and startling to love himself. This episode altough it didnt reach same heights, was important in what kind of protag Subaru wants to be in the future. Lust episode in s3 was my favorite, this episode second favorite so far.

You gotta remember, that individual villains typically leave the story when their time is up (not necessarily dead, but people do die for good in ReZero unlike Dragon Ball where even Frieza comes back). Because they are only in the story for a short period of time, villains are usually not fan favorite characters - the main characters are. And that's my spoiler free response. I promise your commenters are not crazy, so keep watching and let them cook.

For sure, I'm all about character growth and this felt like the acknowledgement of how far he's come not just in the eyes of the viewers but the whole world. Plus it was written so well you can't help but get swiped up with the hype. It's probably the type of an episode that's easier to enjoy on your own when you don't have to worry about making an entertaining reaction

Dawg I damn near cried reading it. Especially cuz I insta read it after I read season 2 and his conclusion to not be alone and love himself. He was the same position the villagers were. Imagine One day you’re chilling tryna holla at fine girl them boom your family is wiped. The speech really uplifted defeated people. There is also a tinge of sadness to it when I relate it to the real world and what some of my family is going thru rn but I don’t wanna get political

Shakir

Also there is no wrong answer. Re zero excels in multiple things. As long as you acknowledge that this story is all about Subaru journey to being a better person as the crux you’ll enjoy it

Theres only three times I have actually cried during Rezero episodes. This current episode with Subaru's speech along with the insert song by Emilia voice actor and the song was " I trust you " which is a call back to Reason To Believe (their kiss episode) their seperation in episode 13 of Season 1 the "Cringe" episode and the Believe in you ED song and love how it went back n forth between them. So it wasn't just showcasing Subaru's growth, but also Emilia's because of how similar they truly are in such positive aspect. Second one was during Parent and Child with his mother, that got me. It's so hard not to relate with that when comes to your parents. Third one was during Frozen Bond right at ending when Emilia walked towards Beast of End Puck on the cliff because she finally found someone who gave a damn about her. Just the way it viewed her walking toward him at far view distance broke me with that melody OST in the background.

Personally I enjoyed it. It’s just interesting to read that is people’s favorite episode which would be unexpected to hear from my point of view the answers have been very solid though

Yeah, personally these types of episodes just resonate with me more (For a variety of reasons), and the content of the speech definitely got me emotional and the words are so true on a real life level, perhaps moreso given recent events that we won't specify, hah. That said, I still absolutely love some good villains (Regulus talking about his rights being violated always pops me), and I enjoy seeing you get hyped up above the absolute villainy of some of these characters, so I appreciate both sides of the spectrum, lol.

My favorite episodes so far have been 2 (Wrath), 5 (Lust), and 7 (Subaru's speech) and for different reasons. I love seeing the character development from Emillia and Subaru this season, which have been built upon everything that's happened since season 1. It's kinda crazy how the author can still introduce new villains this interesting and fun to watch this late in the game and they can compare with the payoff moments we are getting. As a ln reader reading the speech was good, but they really elevated it in the anime with the voice acting, music and styling choices. It actually made me tear up in the anime. This season of Re:Zero has something for anyone who watches, be it entertaining villains or big character moments and I'm equally here for both. I've rarely seen a studio work on an anime with so much love, even extending some episodes and skipping openings and endings to fit all the content. I've got to respect it!

Mitaka

Btw, idk if you've been told but next episode (ep. 8) will be the mid season finale and there will be a 2 month break before the second cour of the season airs

S_Cero

It was pretty decent, I started reading the novels cause this season was pretty hype and was pretty underwhelmed by the speech with how much novel readers were hyping it up. The anime improved on it with the music and Subaru's VA putting in a lot of work. I guess my issue with it is that Rezero kind of has stilted dialogue since it's like a mix between characters talking with modern day vernacular and old timey speech so when the characters were encouraging Subaru it just felt off to me.

Zeklo

It was an alright speech, but with the meta knowledge we get as the viewer I can't really ever see Subaru as "that dude." Even if, in universe, he's seen as this reliable Cult Archbishop slayer. Neat to see his growth, but I'm definitely more into the mystery & action.

Kazuma Sato

I thought the speech was beautiful. Afterall, the show is listed as a psychological thriller and thus explores themes of redemption and personal growth. So, from an objective standpoint, it’s likely that the majority of people who have made it this far into the series are going to be filtered into those who enjoy the more intimate and emotional aspects of the human experience, as opposed to those solely seeking action-heavy scenes—especially knowing how cringeworthy and pathetic Subaru was in S1. However, there’s something for everyone in this show—the mystery, the villains, the action, etc. Personally, I find it interesting and rather appalling that people root for villains unless they watch from a purely detached perspective. It’s hard for me to understand how one can watch innocent characters get harmed and laugh just because the villain was epic or theatrical about it. To me, (unless I’m not watching the usual first-person perspective), I don’t give a fuck how epic or theatrical you are if you're killing innocent people. It’s interesting to see that others' consciences aren’t as fine-tuned as my own. My brain always empathizes strongly with the good characters and hates when they get taken advantage of. Nevertheless, I still enjoy your reactions; it’s why I’ve been here on and off for the past few years, and I’ve pretty much watched all your anime reactions as it’s interesting to see others’ perspectives and individual psychologies as well.

I saw your other post about some K drama feedback, and I don’t watch those shows personally, but it sounds like the idea of people‘s response to your unfiltered comments is on your mind. I appreciate that you facilitate this type of discussion and that you have an interest in these layers of story beyond what you can do when you’re just reacting on impulse in front of the camera. I thought you covered all of the key points in your post discussion of episode seven, I personally felt like this episode had a really great moment where we see how Subaru growth has influence other people, but it also gave me some things to think about. I’ve heard people theorize that might represent pride, and my mind is thinking about how this speech shows him wielding humility and pride together for a common goal... so it seems like his power is really the ability to be both sides of the same coin. We’ve seen him be cringe and epic, we’ve seen him be greedy and self sacrificing, we’ve seen him be called slothful while he was clawing the ground as hard as possible, just to do anything. I think this will pay off later, but for the moment I liked the speech because it shows that he is a rival to all of these villains in every single way, both good and evil, and they are not ready for someone who can be both at the same time. My favorite episode is still the S2 episode "The Value of a Life"
