I love how fixated Megumin was even back then on explosion magick! Also now we all know why she and the entire clan are so extra in everything they do. They were taught in school! 😄

I'm pretty sure that what happens to Megumi when she uses Explosion magic is what happens to everyone else. And that's why it's considered a "joke"/not something you would teach a normal person. Even the lady who used it fine made it seem like it wouldn't be something that would be convinient for Megumi to learn. Megumi is stated to be one of the best magic users around and she had to dedicate everything to learn how to use that one spelll. She ended up becoming a one trick pony compared to what she could've done if she had instead focused on learning anything else. The only reason why that one lady can use it just fine is because she is implied here to be some kind of god.

The whole " Yugi and the Millennium Puzzle" I mean the girl and her other half, has me way more fascinated with this show then originally going in. SN: After playing Fantastic Days, Arue makes a lot more sense in the Crimson Demon story (wink)

I agree somewhat. In the main konosuba anime, the jokes work because Kazuma is there to become the straight man (Tsukkomi). Without him, the jokes kinda fall flat.

Fun fact (and this isn’t a spoiler BTW): But we’ve seen the lady (the one with the big titties and pointed/elf ears) that inspired Megumin to master explosion magic before in the original Konosuba series. In season 2 episode 9, she was the lady who was with Hans the slime in the mixed baths, the one that Kazuma was staring at.

Basically what random guy said, like yes I guess it does it’s job in making me want season 3 more but not in a good way as I barely chuckled the whole episode, whereas in Konosuba I’m almost dying laughing with some jokes. Even in the reaction here you could kinda tell the group wasn’t getting much out of it, laughing instead at shit like elf girls titties. It’s one episode so I’m not writing it off, I’m just skeptical

So, in regard to why Megumin passes out after each explosion: I forget exactly where it was they explain it (meaning if it was main Eps. or OVAs) but they tell us that Megumin has invested every single one of her skill points in to explosive power, aside from the minimum requires for casting the spell. Essentially, if you think about it like game stats, she got herself precisely enough mana to cast explosion, and skipped out on any further mana or reductions to mana cost for a cast (which could make it so she would at least be able to stand afterwards, even if it didn't mean multiple casts), and instead invested all of those points into more spell power.

In Japan, Megumin is really popular. She's also popular outside of Japan, but people outside of Japan aren't known to support anime studios past a crunchyroll subscription(and of which not everyone even does). They will pirate it. They're catering to an audience, that will actually support the series. This is overall healthy. If you actually care about the series you like, you should support said series. I've bought the light novels for a start.

Basically what random guy and jonluke said. The comedy already not nearly as good as the main konosuba for me. It's ok but not all that great tbh and honestly barely chuckled. Obviously this is the first episode so that might change but I was already laughing hard at konosuba episode 1

Basically in the konosuba books it was explained that Megumin doesn't have enough mana so while she can use it she uses up all her mana and stamina to use it if I recall.

She wasn't using a wand, she uses a staff, this isn't Harry Potter Sheera, lol. Also, didn't Megumin finally save enough Skill Points to learn Explosion Magic at the very beginning of the main Anime? Since this is a Prequel I don't think she will be doing any magic. Yeah the lady said I should be the one thanking you, to Megumin, so I think she did unseal her, that is why the lady said she was willing to fulfill a wish for her as thanks.
