One think I do kinda miss from the manga in the OVA is a minor scene of Shane talking to Dutch and he uses some really arcane military slang and it goes over Dutch's head and he kinda blows it off. Before he leaves Shane tells Rock that his boss is a fake vet and there's no way he actually served in Vietnam. Really critical plot point going forward in the manga.

Honestly, one of my favorite changes from the manga is Shane giving his men permission to fight back. Because in the manga, They're literally begging him to let him save their comrades and themselves, as they have a few opportunities to take Roberta down without killing her and he just sits there and listens to them get slaughtered. As brutal as the damage she took is, it shows how dangerous and skilled the grey fox unit is despite them being relatively normal by black lagoon standards

The other change I don't like is his second in command in the manga mirrors his introduction scene where they end up in a duel because the mustache dude wants to avenge his comrades and Shane has to kill another comrade for a member of the enemy tribe, just like back in Nam. That was the purpose of the Vietnam scene, that and showing Dutch is a stolen valor fake vet
