he essentially faked a shot in mid air. He made contact with the ball but kicked it at an angle so that it bounces up with a ton of spin, and then he followed up with an actual shot on goal. Sliced at it in mid air, making it float some more, followed up with a shot

I’m pretty sure nagi kicked the ball but hit it in a spot where it would only rotate instead of kicked away. With a volleyball i use to do the same thing like you hit it with your fingertips and it would just spin in place

Imo Nagi spun the ball when Rin tried to make contact with it. Causing Rin to slip and Nagi to follow up. Could be absolutely wrong here, just using my imagination with the animation. (He probably just tapped it up making Rin miss)

Essentially Nagi side swiped the ball with what appeared to be a full swing (to make it look like a shot). Therefore stopping the balls momentum right in front of him, and also baiting out Rin to slide tackle to try and stop the shot. Plenty of time after he baits the tackle to just let it one-bounce and rip it.
