I'm confused on when they started to think that Marc was the real person and Steven was the imposter xD

He has even said that he is in Steven's body as part of his deal with Konshu :P And when his business is done Steven will never hear from him again. Steven also owns an apartment, had a job, and likely a bank account which would be pretty hard to do as a random fake identity, while Marc's 'home' was a storage container where he kept his money as cash because his identity isn't the real one.
