I was reading an interview with Shinobu's voice actress the other day. Apparently, the audition for the role was really stressful, because the role very, very specifically required being able to a sultry, wise, but still slightly whimsical adult voice. Then doing the same voice again except coming out of a loli's mouth. And also deliver the long, fast-paced Monogatari monologues in both voices. SHAFT was apparently having trouble finding anyone else who could pull it off. (they had Aya Hirano doing young Shinobu for a bit, but her vocal range wasn't wide enough for adult Shinobu) Hell, Shinobu's voice actress is still listed as "???" in the first Kizumonogatari teasers, because they still hadn't found a talented enough actress when they started animating it. The voice acting in this show is really phenomenal.

Agree. Without looking it up I would've never caught on to the fact that Sakamoto Maaya is doing adult Kiss-Shot and kid Shinobu. It just straight up sounds like a different person.

Voice acting was always a highlight of the show for me. It was by far the first show where I was in awe of an episode when it was just 2 characters having the conversation. But there was so much going on in that conversation, from wild shit going on in the background to VAs doing gods work on so many levels that it immediately became something I try to notice more in any medium from that point on.

hanekawa intimidates senjou because she represents a threat to her and ararargi relationship. she also knows araragi views her as the perfect women and idolizes her. Hanekawa is good at messing with senjous soft spots when it comes to araragi as you saw few episodes ago when hanekawa told you what she said to senjou to get her to let araragi go.
