idk if you noticed but right after Ishigami took the sign off Iino's back, she went to the principal to voice her opinion against Ishigami being suspended.

The Ishigami backstory doesn't come totally out of nowhere. In episode 8 last season, after the first year girls were taking shit about Ishigami in the library (I think you see those same girls this episode) Ishigami says something like "I'm sure you heard about what happened to me in middle school and ended up missing a bunch of school". We never got the details but we knew something happened. And we know the girls in his class hate him.

They hinted towards Ishigami's middle school situation when Kaguya was helping Ishigami study in the library in season 1. Two girls came up and was like "why is kaguya hanging out with him? isn't that dangerous?" then kaguya pretty much told them to stop judging him. It was a small hint and I actually didn't catch until I re-watched it with you guys.

Miko's friend has a good eye. Miko and Ishigami aren't an obvious pairing, but it really grows on you. At least it did for me. Thanks for the episodes and looking forward to you guys learning more about Ishigami's backstory!

To expound a bit on what Iino's friend was saying, she meant that both Ishigami and Iino were the same in that they are both righteous and can't stand bad/evil (Ishigami's will be expounded next ep), and also the fact that even though they may seem to hate each other a lot the both of them do little things for each other like when Ishigami was pissed when Iino was constantly being mocked for running as president and here we see that Iino was rejecting the decision of the school to suspend Ishigami. Also its unconfirmed but people think that the person who gave Iino that flower which she turned into a bookmark was Ishigami.
