The first movie is kinda confusing, the next 2 proceed then to answer a LOT of questions about Fate Stay Night/Fate Zero, while the animation becomes more and more insane. Also, obligatory "please watch Fate Apocrypha and Grand Order if you like Fate".

One thing to clarify about the "timelines" and stuff, is that everything leading up the grail war is the same in each route. Stuff like Shirou meeting Sakura and Shinji being more amiable are all consistent throughout each route. It's the events of the war itself, and the relevance of certain characters that changes in each route. So Roshi got it.

Ya'll forgot Sakura's story already? Sakura is Rin's blood related sister. Sakura was adopted into the Matou household because Tokiomi wanted to ensure that his two daughter lived the lives of mages. Sakura simply got the short end of the stick. Shinji is Sakura's stepbrother. Hence why she has the name Matou.

@Roshi (no spoilers) Just to clear things up, Tohsaka Rin and Matou Sakura are not related to Matou Shinji by blood at all. Sakura was originally Tohsaka Sakura but mage families are only allowed to have one successor to inherit the family magic. So their father Tohsaka Tokiomi (Fate Zero) gave Sakura away to the Matou's to be the successor to their own family magic since the Matou's blood line had grown weak. I believe Matou Kariya was supposed to be the successor of the Matou family originally since his brother was either weak in magic or had none (Shinji's father as seen in the second half of Fate Zero). Kariya rejected being the successor and "left the family" but returned furious just before the last Grail War when he found out that Sakura had been given away to the Matou's to be their successor..... you know the rest from there lol Sakura and Shinji are basically step brother and sister; they aren't related by blood. Rin and Sakura however are both related by blood and are sisters.

I think it's hella weird that the subs say "superhero" all the time. Just "hero" suffices in this context. "What do I have to do to become a superhero?" Well, first you need super powers. Hey I’ll clarify for you guys , the whole routes . Fate stay night original is the (Saber Route) it’s actually good , but the anime adaptation is god awful , that’s why everything says just go to fate zero , Fate stay Night UBW is the (Rin Route) and heavens feel movies are the (Sakura Route) all Routes have similar beginnings. But they all change different directions in the middle of the story , and obviously have different ending. If you guys really wanna experience the 1st Route , the saber one , you can watch about 55 hours of visual novel content haha👍🏻

Meh, personally I liked Ufotable's animation better in the Demon Slayer movie. It's much more elegant and easier to follow. With the exception of a couple of fights, the Heavens Feels movies just felt like a bunch of Michael Bay explosions.

Just for future reference, since it'll be mentioned a few more times, "Imaginary Numbers" is just Fate's edgy term for Void-element magic (you know, opening portals to nothingness, attacking with nothingness, ect). It's because imaginary numbers are called 虚数 in Japanese, with the first kanji literally translating to "void" or "emptiness" (and the numbers is there for some metaphorical bullshit about how it exists but doesn't exist, like imaginary numbers). The name is a lot less obtuse in Japanese.

Kirei said that Assassin could hide his presence completely. The explanations from this show are often really bad, possibly cause of bad translations, but I think that's the reason why the shadow doesn't attack him. As for Rider, I got a feeling that she's the one that's tied to Sakura in some fashion. Especially since she seems to be a vampire, and Shirou had a dream of Sakura being a vampire. Not saying Sakura is a vampire, but that could've been a hint from the writers to the viewers.

I just remembered. The scene with Kirei eating curry is reference to one of the author's past works called Tsukihime. That game had a priest girl who was obsessed with curry. So priests being obsessed with curry turned into some kind of weird running gag. (and one of the Fate games has Mapo Tofu curry as an item. There's a playthrough of it where they had the original voice actors talking over it and Saber keeps screaming about wanting the Mapo Tofu item, so she gets lumped into the curry joke, too)

Yeah the movie just kind of flips past it quickly but the very first decision that changes the story is that in UBW, Shirou uses a command spell to stop Saber from dunking on Archer that very first night. In HF, she chops him across the chest (you can see it in the montage near the opening) and so he's out of the war for a bit which is why you don't see him around. Edit: Technically the very first choice that changes in the game is that he takes Sakura home and meets Grandpa Zouken even before summoning Saber.

Do you may have missed it, it was during the sort of opening credit thingy, but they showed Archer actually getting hit by Saber early on. In UBW Shirou uses a command seal to stop Saber before Archer gets injured, but in this route he doesn’t do that. So Archer is injured and recovering during the Berserker fight, hence Shirou spilling his guts, literally.

Well it probably wasn’t a bad translation. Assassin servants have a skill called Presence Concealment, which makes them extremely hard to find. But the bad explanation could be due to the fact that each movie could do with an extra 30 minutes to an hour, because they are trying to cram the most complex route into 3 movies.

Rin and Sakura are sisters by blood but Sakura was given away to the Matou family so they are technically not sisters anymore. Shinji is actually in the Matou family and even though him and Sakura aren’t related by blood, she is pretty much his adopted sister. Also since the Matou and Tohsaka family’s are big rivals they aren’t really allowed to acknowledge each other as sisters (Rin is kind of using that as an excuse because she actually feels guilty about the situation Sakura is in)

And if you watched their movie reaction or read the comments above, you will see that they got confused over Sukura's family name, so don't expect them to remember every details in Fate Zero. And I don't recall any scene in the show up to now confirmed what you said earlier, so I think your comment is an actual spoiler for them 🤐.

The rest of the Heaven's Feels are hella intense too. Also a reminder, Sakura was adopted out of the Tohsaka family. She is Rin's full sister, and Shinji's (he still garbo btw) adopted sister. This all happened back in Zero

Just a few things to explain : the heaven's feel route is diverge from unlimited blade works because of two events : first, Shirou decides to escort Sakura home at the beggining, meeting Zouken and learning about the name "Einzbern" and being hinted toward the link between him and Illya. Second, Shirou doesn't use a command spell to stop saber when she attacks Archer at the beggining, because of that, Archer is wounded and can't take part in the fight with Berserker, and because of that Shirou has to step in to save Saber and end up injured. Since he is injured, he goes back home later than in UBW and see Shinji. Because of that, Rider is defeated earlier, forcing zouken to step in and summon "True Assassin" from the body of "Samurai Assassin". And because of that Shirou has to go back to the church to get help from Kirei to heal the girl injured by Rider, and have the conversation about Kiritsugu with Kirei and then Saber. Those little changes also result in the apparition of the "thing" that ate Saber and Lancer , but i won't spoil that. Just one way to see how little changes can snowball into a big mess xD Keep up the good work, it's amazing to see you guys reaction to these movies!

shinji used gilgamesh to kill his grandfather in UBW, they showed the scene of the 2 of them underground. At the same time shirou didn't catch shinji in the alleyway when rider was biting the girl. the girl was supposed to have disappeared for a few days and found her couple of days later but was never explained who did that to her till now.

this is sakura route. Unlimited blade works is Rin route. Stay night is sabre ( yes he falls in love with sabre ) Tohasaka is sakuras sister shes not related to matou shinji at all you saw this already in Zero. Her father gave her away to the matous. She idolizes Rin for th life she gets to have while she suffers being raped by her new step brother and by bugs every night. Nothing in the timeline changes until the first night of the war. You just didn't see all this before. Also Sakura was always a master shinji only borrows the power using her who's who's master never changes between routes some of them just get off screened or aren't relevant in different timelines. Also in this route and stay night archer got clapped by sabre in their first encounter so he's MIA most of the war. Only in unlimited blade works did shirou stop sabre from clapping him up.

Personally I'd say I have slight problems the way the heavens feel movies were adapted but the way they portrayed the "bad ends" in the VN through dream sequences were pretty cool.
