This Rider gets more screentime in the other routes, but in Unlimited Blade Works she gets no moment to shine. It sucks because she's one of my favorite Servants, though at least they made the Heaven's Feel Movies. Now if only they'll adapt the Fate route in a more straight forward adaptation.

In the Fate route (the one the shitty 2006 anime is based on, where Saber claps Archer so hard he's just gone from the story), instead of Caster luring Shirou to the temple, Saber ends up storming the temple herself, defeats Assassin, then Caster just goes "fuck that" and decides to just lay low until Berserker and/or Saber kill each other. So she doesn't pop up to murder Rider, and Rider and Saber get a proper fight. (then later Gilgamesh unceremoniously turns Caster into a pincusion before she can actually do anything) Every route has a servant or two who just get killed off immediately, so the story doesn't retread the same ground. Rider got the raw deal this time. She does appear in the Heaven's Feel movies, though.

Honestly when there's a servant who qualifies for Rider Class because she was a REALLY huge slut, you just gotta throw your hands up and give up trying to rationalize on some of these things. Edit: Also I thought I made it more clear, but I'm obviously talking about Medb here, like Alonso616 said.

I feel like they missed a kind of important part, where Shirou said he was used to seeing dead bodies. It’s not super important to the plot, but it does help the viewer understand Shirou a bit more.

That's... not the reason for Rider's classification. In some legends, she is the mother of the original Pegasus, which is partially the reason for her class. You don't really get to see her fight properly in the UBW route so you don't see her utilize her skills or any backstory for her.

Yeah, in VN order this is the second route. Her losing here is a huuuge surprise because in the first route Rider actually has very good showings and is a great servant. Too bad no one reacts DEEN/ Stay Night, and who knows if the 1st route will ever be re-adapted.

Lancer was cucked in almost every route. He was severely nerfed from the get go because of a command put on him. He's actually insanely fast and would generally wipe most of the cast if he wasn't nerfed after he was summoned.

the anime isn't really done well enough to really hit home on the PTSD and survivors guilt shirou suffers from. It took a backseat to Action scenes.

Riders Master never changed in any route lol. Shinji is not her master. Hes a proxy he has no mana HE CANNOT summon a servant or control one outside of using items. Someone else was always Riders Master but you don't figure out who till heavens feel altho its INSANELY obvious if you watched Zero because you would know Shinji was not one who inherited the matous magic.
