thats because that's a corrupted grail. Remember home boi cursed the grail when he died? You need to read some extra stuff to understand whats happening but this is a corrupted grail that goes on to corrupt the next grail war. This also isn't a spoiler before some cringe morons comments because its never explained in Zero or even the other anime adaptations you have to read the extra novels to know why its black.

You're wrong. It's because of (Heaven's Feel spoilers) Angra Manyu, another character in Fate. The grail was already corrupted which is why fucked up servants like Bluebeard were able to be summoned. This fucked up grail also called Kirei because he would be the one fucked up enough to desire the birth of all the curses in the grail.

If you guys would like to know what happened with Waver after the war, then you might want to watch 'The Case Files of Lord El-Melloi II'. It's a spin off with Waver as the protagonist. Once you see him in his adult form, you might notice something if you watch Rider's first noble phantasm.

To get the complete holy grail you do need your servant to sacrife but only few know thats how it works.

I know Roshi and the crew have already watched the rest of the series but if anyone else is confused about the command spell stuff this episode: The Root is the origin of all magic that can only be reached by sacrificing 7 servants to the grail. However, the grail has enough power to grant wishes by using 6 sacrifices. So only masters who wish to reach the Root (Like Tohsaka and Kayneth) would have needed to command their servant to kill themselves; all the other masters who wanted some other wish did not need to.
