If you’re wondering why they never showed echidnas face in the tomb that’s because she is a different echidna than the one in the dream world. We don’t know why but if you compare the two they look a little different

Bruh was so busy making jokes about that being Echidna that he didn't realize it wasn't Echidna lmao EDIT: This ain't a spoiler, it's supposed to be obvious, WF just decided to be subtle about it. But Emilia clearly didn't recognize that body and Subaru said "That woman in the casket" like he didn't recognize her either. Just gotta connect the pieces instead of them spelling it out for you. That was very clearly a different face than the Echidna we know though

Explaining the constant face reveal teasing of Echidna. Its subtle but the Echidna that we see in the coffin looks older and more mature than the Echidna Subaru and Emilia met in the Castle of Dreams. That's why Emilia was confused when she first saw her in the coffin in ep 10.

The echidna from the grave looks different from the tea party, it’s meant to be obvious that they are different yet linked but the difference in faces isn’t really noticeable unless you put them side by side

This entire episode was a mix of wholesome moments and Roswaal getting his ass beat by everyone lmao. But man ima miss Re:Zero Wednesday's. Hopefully season 3 comes around a bit quicker than season 2 did

I give Re: Zero Season 2 a 7/10. I like the character growth of Emilia and almost all of the secondary characters. Subaru is still Subaru (I will never like him or his relationship with Emilia). I hate how Rem is still in a coma during this season and they use her body as a puppet during this episode. The only thing I truly didn't like was how fast they defeated the rabbits. The white whale took at least two to three episodes to handle. Overall not a bad season.

They definitely cutted some content in the season, but overall it was good. 9/10 adaptation from light novels. I was waiting for that "pregnant reveal" since I read it. A part they cutted that I was expecting to see was when subaru is in the witch tea party facing the witches, there's a scene when subaru eats his own hand by gluttony authority, but I hear it was cutted from the web novel to the light novel bc the author said it was a plot hole for arc/seasons to come. So, the wait is on for 3rd season/ Arc 5 that is going to be full of fights, I can't wait to see it animated. And hope it doesn't have to take 4+ years more to have a 3rd season. My question is Subaru OP now with Beatrice contracted with him or at the very least with her protection him dying is going to be a lot harder to pull off from now on? They were able to do quite a lot together. That only means the next enemies are even more broken down the line I guess.

not sure if you guys caught it, but roswaal basically was transferring his soul into his children over the generations, basically killing them in the process. Oh and also, echidna from the trials looks different from the echidna we see in the coffin in this episode. they do look very much alike, but they are different and it's intentional.

I just realized why Emilia and even Subaru I believe seems to talk as if they can't remember Eckidna. It's like when Subaru first had the tea party and entered his first trial, she made him forget and he only remembered when he saw her again. After subaru permission to do the trial was taken back, she must of also took his wish to remember back as well? It just makes sense on why Emilia didn't know who was in the coffin at all though.

No. They remember Echidna alright. Subaru talked about meeting Echidna with Garfiel, Otto and Ram on episode 43. Also, Emilia mentions Echidna after the doing the trials. So both Subaru and Emilia definitely remember Echidna. If you pay attention to that woman's dead body, she's like Echidna but older.

The implication regarding Echidna's face is that the Echidna that was in the flashbacks 400 years ago had a different face than the Echidna shown during the trials. For what reason, we don't know. The reveal of her face (which is notably different than what was shown in the trails) in the casket and Emilia's reaction is to show that.

A very bone chilling realization that came from Emilias idea of how babies were made is that when she kissed him in ep 11 after the bunnies ate him partially and he was dying, she was trying to get pregnant with his baby before he died o_O

I mean she still Echidna, wit the same white/silver hair, hairstyle, white eyelashes, Pale skin, literally the SAME outfit, like when have we seen someone else wit the same outfit as her? Exactly.. Was it just me or was Echidna's facial structure different in the grave? Like her nose was a bit longer and face was more elongated. Putting her appearance in the Witch's tea party side by side with her appearance in the grave, it really does look different, but I could be wrong

About Echidna's face being hidden all the time. Didn't you guys realize? Echidna's face as a witch (the one that talks with subaru and with emilia) is different, it has a wider structure and is cuter. But, the echidna from the grave (and from the past, in the last flashback from Betty and Roswaal) has a longer nose, smaller eyes, and it's in general, more ugly. I don't know how you guys didn't realize, as my reaction to her face reveal was like "who the fuck is that what happened to her"

The author said on twitter that the Echidna from Windows xp is 18-19 while the grave echidna is older by 10 years. I think the older version does fit the motherly / master image a lot more.

Echidna's first person in the sanctuary → "watashi" Echidna's first person at the tea party → "boku" Her face was a little different, so I think something happened to her. Or maybe her personality has just changed. Echidna at the tea party is a little childish.
