Honestly I get where Megumi's coming from, in court sometimes the defendant will ask for forgiveness from the victims family and what people expect you to do is forgive them but I don't get that, why clear their conscious, it'll just make them feel like the weight of their actions are less severe, if you do something bad you should live with that guilt and use it as a moral compass . At least in my opinion

I agree with that. Even when they went to the juvenile detention center, Megumi said he didn't want to save one of the victims cause he had hit a little girl while driving without a license for a second offense. I'm not saying he deserved to die but I can see why Megumi wouldn't want to risk his life to save someone that has done bad. It takes a lot to forgive someone who has done bad but you really are letting them off easy by doing that.
