Yeah this episode was outsourced to another studio due to scheduling conflicts(possibly COVID). This is the only one like this though so no more worries for the rest of the season

nah it was ugly, Production IG sent this episode to another animation studio to be animated, it was not animated by Production IG

Yeah,I hate the way a lot of the characters look after the art style change, some still look fine but most of them, especially Asahi look awful. Sad because I loved how they were drawn seasons 1-3

I think that was in fact the worst animation of the season but thankfully it do get better. We know the lack of quality is bc of covid but they should have took their time and made it right even if it got push back another year.

Hello Darkness

From what I've seen, Production I. G. were overworking their animators an unreasonable amount and the change to a more simple style in season 4 is a way to lighten the load. A combination of that and most likely less staffing because of COVID caused them to outsource most of this episode and i think a few others, which is why some characters look really strange at some bits. In a future episode theres a shot of Ukai's 2 buddies that looks fucking horrid, but most of the important moments are all I. G.

Usually when they reuse the same animation for a certain move it's not super noticeable but there's a couple that are pretty noticeable this season like when Atsumu serves and shuts the band up you'll see that animation being reused (I loved that serve and thought it was cool when I first saw it but seeing it reused made it kinda lackluster the 2nd time around, that's just me though). There were some issues this season, but overall it was still great, thanks for the reactions.

Anyone reading this, just want to update that a lot of the issues with the animation were corrected for the dvd of Haikyuu,( as of today) idk if and when these version will be put on streaming services.
