I'm sure others are going to comment this, but the people they're fighting against aren't the Eldians on Paradis. They're at war with the Mid-Eastern Alliance, which is basically just a whole other country on the mainland that has no connection to anybody on Paradis island. When the world saw that Marley failed to get the Founding Titan back, it made Marley look weak and so other countries are trying to take their position of power now.

It’s been a nine year time skip. Zeke says this right when they send the titans out of the plane. They’ve been at war with the Mid eastern alliance the last four years. So five years after the beach scene with Eren, they went to war with this country. Excited to see all this for the first time with y’all!!!

wow this first episode was probably the best first episode i've seen of anime. JUST WOW. mappa did an amazing job and it was like AOT never left us. just wow. the characters, the lines, the animation, the music, everything. 10/10

I'm pretty sure that was just him being delusional and them making a callback to the survey corps, nothing to take serious. Plus from what we've seen with Eren and how he saw his father's memories it wouldn't make sense for Falco to see someone's memories before getting a titan.

All the countries that Marley was dominating went to war with Marley bc of the weapons Marley lost, those countries thought they had a chance of breaking free from MArley. Marley's been using the titans to rule over other countries, and after it lost a portion of the titans it had (i.e. the colossal, the female, and [temporarily] the jaw), it triggered a war bc the countries saw an opportunity to break free. So they had to postpone the Paradise island stuff and fight these other people. Meanwhile our Eren squad is chillin. It's not known what they're up to but you should assume they're at home

I didn't not like it, it was just weird at times like when Galliard ripped up the train tracks. Cause in the trailer it wasnt cgi and it looked fantastic, overall it's not bad and I was already warming up to it👌. I'm hoping they do it for a few episodes then hit us with some mind blowing animation that leaves us dumbfounded like the scenes with Levi in S3 Ep3, but even if they don't it's fine they way it is.

Zeke, the kids, and reiner, and the masked titan are all on the same side attcaking the same enemy. The kids are warriors in training. Their job is to take the titan from the armor and beast titan in the future. Thinnk of like the reiss ceremony where the titans get passed down every few years. its the same thing. The only difference is that its a competition and the kids are competing against each other for it. So they are trying to show their abilities on the battlefield to get it for themselves.

So correct me if i am wrong but isn't kinda messed up how Marley sacrificing Eldians to fight on the front lines to show their loyalty, even though they were probably forced to obey. Also how they other kids (Eldians) are fighting to become the next Titan, though they are not Marley.

It was the Middle Eastern Federation vs Marley, The Jaw titan was Ymir's titan but every individual looks different even though it might be the same titan power, without reading the manga I suspect that the first half of the season might be a lot of Marleys perspective so that we can relate to both sides once shit hits the fan, very pleased with Mappas work can't wait for next week

(I didn’t read the manga, I’m just guessing) The guy at the end with the hat is Jean, I believe he’s undercover in Marley and then the rest are with him maybe in a secret place? I think the main characters (eren, armin, etc.) are all in Marley and Jean is playing the roll as an undercover person for them if that makes sense.

wtf if falco has memories of flying around w/ swords fighting titans i'd be pissed if that basically confirms he will somehow eat eren in the future. the only titan that can do this 'memory sending that transcends time' thing is the AT and not any other.... i hope this isnt the case (maybe it's a joke and implies they've heard stories about the scouts on paradis island from reiner and zeke and thus could visualize what that looks like)

Explanation (no spoilers): Marley has been fighting a 4 year war against this Eastern Federation thing (they are not Eldians and are not related to that conflict on Paradis. Marley used Eldian soldiers on the front lines, the Eldians go along with it for reasons that will be clarified in coming episodes. Essentially they see the world the same way Grisha's father did. Eldians are discriminated against by the vast majority of other nations due to the history of the Empire of Eldia as Grisha's dad told us at the end of Season 3 P.2 (hence why one of the Eastern soldiers called the Eldian recruits 'devils').

The Marleans? Are at war with the world. Think of them as if the Nazi's won. Titans is what kept them in charge. But the world's tech is catching up so the Marleans are getting desperate to hold on to power and want the founding titan who they exiled and had a "contract" with to keep them on the island as long as they didn't leave they wouldn't keep the war going that lead to their exile to the island(eren's home)

He does say one thing that might technically be a spoiler I'm obviously not a manga reader so I don't know what happens but it just give an name for what Falco (the kid that dreames of the 3D gear) and explains what it is. Other than that it has great information.

Timeskip is 5 years after they found the beach and ocean. They had said they are at war with the Middle Eastern Federation other nations are attacking them since they appear weak after losing two titans behind enemy lines. I think the change in perspective from our characters to the Marleyan's was very jarring for you guys and caused a lot of confusion but I'm sure y'all read the helpful comments already :-)

no the timeskip is closer to 3 years (less than 4, more than 3). The initial Paradis attack was 9 years ago...in S3 it had been 5 years and by the last ep of S3 it had been another timeskip of 6mo-1year. So it's been 3-4 years since S3 finale.
