This episode is straight-up social commentary on our laws regarding indefinite detention. Whenever a group is broadly associated with terrorists/radicals, historically, their rights are violated in the name of security. Especially if it is a minority group (non-benders) gathering together to protest misuse of power. The original show made some jokes about it with Sokka and the asshole guards in Zuko Alone. But they never went too far into what it was like for an average non-bender. I think it's hilarious that basically every time they want Korra to clapback at someone, for better or worse, she eventually does it. lol And that shit doesn't always turn out well.

So y'all just punch everybody in the face because of their appearance or how you perceive them Roshi, Sheera and Lupasan? Tarlok has not even done anything to warrant much animosity and everybody wants his head or thinks he's evil based off looks lol. I can honestly see why Tarlok attacked Korra even though I don't agree with kidnapping her, she go around like she can do anything she wants because she's the avatar. I feel like he would not have arrested Korra friends if she didn't bait him every chance she gets due to her ego. And yes tf she is doing the same thing she oppress the counsel from doing what they have to do only thing that was messed up is branding those people equalitist under assumption.

At this point in the series she is considered a master water bender, earthbender, and firebender. they went over this in the first episode. she passed her firebending mastery test and said 3 down 1 to go. Skill with bending wasn't the issue.

But we also saw during the first solstice episode in AtLA, when Roku emerges from the locked room after talking with Aang for the first time. He releases a heat wave that melted the chains binding everyone in the room. It makes no sense in reality, but we accept it anyways. No point in getting too caught up in realism, just enjoy the show eh?
