that's because they had a lot of problems with the writers returning in between each season. they didn't even have all the same writers and head writer from atla. that's why Korra performed the way it did, but to me its still good even if it didnt live up to atla

I’ll be interested to see how the view Korras power level over the series from the beginning she seems stronger than aang but firstly she’s about six years older and secondly she’s just a competent bender which makes her powerful yes but she’s capped pretty easily... even aang pre mastering the avatar state would smack max level korra the biggest indicator is her avatar state is almost fully limited to a power boost she doesn’t even come close to drawing out its true potential... super excited for these reactions korra is an entirely different show you can’t compare the two at all and it standing alone is a solid B B- throughout so I’m excited it’s we my fav reaction channel go through it

korra isnt at all a bad show its just that people expect it to be exactly the same as atla. People need to stop saying its trash when its really and truly not. the combat is much better than atla and the story is very interesting it may not be as great as atla but its still good.

Fun fact that's not in the show: lighting bending is still rare,just more people outside royalty know it now. Mako specifically learned his from Zolt, and he got his facctory gig because of how fast he can charge it

My biggest problem with Korra is a lack of consequences for the protagonist. She’s far more flawed than Aang, which is interesting and sometimes compelling, but gets little karma for her actions. There are many large examples, but a small one would be episode 2. She frequently disregards Tenzen’s advice, blatantly disobeys his instructions, consistently pursued her own interests and... it works out for her. The “be like a leaf” clicks while she’s stubbornly doing the thing she was told not to do, and because of it she wins the match despite being a rookie, earns Tenzen’s approval despite being a terrible student, and that’s a message young people are absorbing... the show itself has really cool world building and characters and the villains are fantastic (though no one is quite Azula level). But Korra is just so... unlikeable.

about the lightning bending in this show... there is something almost everyone gets wrong... In the past,that technique was something reseved for the elite, that's why in ATLA we only saw royalty do it. Now the knowledge is wide spread but it doesn´t mean it is "super common" or that "anyone can do it". It still takes a talented mother fucker to do it, that is actually why the guy that amon fucks up here is so high up in the mob world. Because he is so nice he is a master lightning bender. So it is not like any scrub can create lightning.

oh and about the scene where there are benders at the power plant... you gotta remember, this is a huge capital city, so there are MANY benders here. and it obviously there are going to be a couple of nice fire benders in there. It is like looking at NY or California and the crazy amount of super nice athletes they have (like players in the nba and shit).
