It could've been the prisoners reminiscing about their loved ones and their families, and maybe a guard overheard something and figured it out after their capture of the last waterbender; Hama.

ViralCorgi

In another life Katara would have made an awesome assassin

Anthony

Tea -This is my favorite episode in the whole series. Reason being is because I’m a huge katara fan. A lot of people think that she’s too bossy and she brings up her mother too much but they also at the same time “forget” that she literally saw her moms dead body in a brutal state, and then she had fo fill that role in her family (remember the “runaway” episode). -Katara always had raw talent as a water bender, even being bad at the very beggining all she need was a little direction. This episode we see her at one of the climaxes of her power. -Also not to mention I love the dynamic between zuko and katara. I’m don’t necessarily ship them (even though I would be okay with it) they are a good fighting team, and it was interesting to see zuko who lost his mom help katara find closure with the death of her mom. A lot of things (not all yet) came full circle for katara in this episode, it made me happy. Also zuko’s reactions to kataras power 🤣

Cameron

so hype been refreshing for a couple hrs I had to take a nap and I wake up to this bet

Assimilater

HYPE my favorite episode of the series!

Junior

User100

Love you guys!! Ok back to the video lol

Wolves

Zukos my favourite, but lets be honest, katara would wipe the floor with almost anyone

Anthony

Sheera with the Todoroki shirt! :) 🔥 🧊

Sheraya san

i use to ship Katara and Zuko but now that i’ve gotten older and rewatched the series, i’ve grown a new appreciation for their relationships with mai & aang

Big Daddy Dre

Evil avatar...mhm 😂😂

Mten10th

There wasn't enough between Katara and Zuko to ship them imo. The very first episode of the series set up Aang and Katara for me.

Ally

“A new avatar geared to an older audience” with more death and fuller potentials 🧐 I hope for your sake y’all are watching Korra after this

Kurumi

lmao Aang thought his monk knowledge was top tier till Zuko hit em with reality

Shamar

Zuko: what are you gonna do when you face my father Aang: *stands there with the you eat ass face*

botanbutton

LOVE THIS EPISODE

Ever Borjas

Some of their fan fic though..... not too far off from another "series"

MackeyMoose

5000 IQ Sheera as always

Gabby Boakye-yiadom

Funny tidbit with Sokka the creators commented that in the morning before Katara left they showed him wearing a flower necklace which was supposed to mean a loss of virginity. So yes Lupa was right Sokka got to Smash City.

Anonymous

I lovvvvve Katara but I think it was really insensitive of her to say that Sokka and Aang don’t feel/understand her pain when Sokka also lost his mother and Aang lost EVERYTHING except Appa and the monks teachings. It seemed like she was trying to justify her wanting revenge but I loved that they showed this side of her. And I LOVED that she ended up not forgiving what the guy did but just accepting that it’s something that happened. It shows kids that sometimes, you need to move on from a situation and you can do so without forgiving or forgetting. Love you guys!! Excited for the finale!!!!

Haaa?

Please please please read the comics after you finish the show so you can see what happens after this and before korra

Kelsey Brown

When you're watching Legend of Korra and you make the YouTube video for it, I want you to remember what you said at a certain point in this video and put a flashback to it in the YouTube one. I'm not going to specify because I don't want to spoil it. I just REALLY hope you see it happen and go "Wait... didn't I-". Lol

Just don't forget the full moon stuff. There was a bunch of shots of the moon this episode showing it nearly full and then full that night. And not every waterbender can bloodbend dont forget that its a rare thing.

Mo

Katara is amazing! She and all of the characters have grown so much. I love Aang and his beliefs are a big part of who he is, but Zuko is right to wonder what he is going to do when he goes against Ozai.

Malcolm Hughes

Katara used Rainy Day. Water-type moves have been boosted.

Lightning Strike Fitness

Just like blood bending I think aang could air bend and suck the wind out peoples lungs or make em pop like a balloon.

Devin B

With Zuko's question to Aang at the end of the episode I think he wanted to make sure that Aang has a clear understanding of what to do when he faces Ozai. Since Aang grew up with the understanding that all life is important being in a position where he might have to take a life for the greater good might cause some internal conflict with him.

Eugene Conner

OMG, that villian avatar ! Every generation there is a new MEGA villian that the world has to deal with. Every generation dealt with the avatar unitely until one day the Air nation hides the identity of the Avatar as a child and teams up with (him/her) and goes against all the other nations.

Anonymous

yeah they think shes broken but shes only broken on a full moon lol and at this point I think Toph is the strongest in their group (not including Aang of course)

godUsoland

If I was Katara, I would've at least chopped off 1 arm. Or a leg.

lisa son

the fact that after zuko joined the good guys, his personality wasn't completely erased was amazing. I was so happy that he was still zuko but with better intentions.

Jake Disarufino

You gotta remember Katara can only blood bend during a full moon one of the best things about this show is the balancing of the power system every bending type has broken abilities, with the exception of air which is the most powerful and only the pacifist nature of the monks holds them back, and balance to never make any one person to powerful can’t wait for you guys to finish love the reactions🙏🏽

LK

Yup. Many reactors think she can do it 24/7

MrNoor114

Damn while saka and suki going in, toph just sitting there in her tent seeing the whole thing go down lol.

SoreDakeNoKoto

Watching this again and now I find that the resolution was pretty BS, at least if you look at it from a non-kid's-show perspective (even if it really is a kid's show). What would she have done if they showed up and found the guy living big on his loot, retirement pension and shit (which is actually more likely)? What are the odds that he'd remember one girl he only saw for a few seconds, in a lifetime of raiding? "I did a bad thing"? This guy was a *captain* of a band of freaking raiders, murdering and presumably pillaging, over decades. One woman's death should be a mere blip, among the countless he must've killed or sentenced to a lifetime of imprisonment. The show writers shouldn't have gone down this revenge path if they weren't ready to commit, or to find a different way for Katara to get closure.

Austin D

I disagree. I don't think someone like him would be living a life of luxury. It's not like we know how long he served for. We have clearly seen many fire nation people not agree with the leaders of their nation. That moment could have very easily been the last raid he took part in. We have no idea. I actually think the writers did a really good job explaining that forgiveness isn't always necessary. I think that was pretty brave to put in a kids show. A 14 year old like Katara would not have the desire to kill a man. Nothing before this moment has shown this desire to kill. All she talks about is wanting to help people. She hates the fire nation, but not enough to take revenge. This isn't an adult we are talking about. She is 14. Little kids are often very compassionate to all living things.

Therion

Yes! I support that! Please, please, please do the comics live readings before Korra. It ties together so nicely!

Jason Serrano

If y'all noticed after Mai and Ty Lee turned on her... Azula's firebending might've gotten more powerful cuz of rage but it's less precise... firebending with closed fist instead of the 2 fingers she usually does.

Anonymous

Also her tone of voice was way more emotional and not the creepy-calm it usually is.

AK Jay

Nah Toph is the strongest in the group besides Aang. Katara could only bloodbend during a full moon while Toph can metalbend and has seismic sense

Squartoise

There are fair reasons for anyone to believe either is stronger. There's no right answer.

RM

“You know, we were... AHHHHHHH!!!!!! Bro y’all got me dead af I swear 😂

Anonymous

in my opinion this is the best episode in the show. Absolute masterpiece

Rachel Kim

Ngl the Southern Raiders uniforms and helmets are fire though. Also, I think Zuko was more like his previous self because the anger Katara was facing regarding her mother's death is something he can relate to, having lost his own mother as well.

John

Zuko like "ima take your little girl crush avatar this the least I can get" 😂

John

Katara should kissed Zuko lmao the thing about this show is that the characters although not on the fire nation side are not all ways going to all ways make perfect cookie cutter decisions. So old Zuko he is still the same Zuko just playing for a different team and gained a little more wisdom.

James Chuma

If you noticed, Whaletale island is the place Jet told em Appa was being kept

Anonymous

What why should Katara kiss Zuko? Zuko went on lifechanging field trips with Aang and Sokka too. Should they have kissed him too? Lmao

Anonymous

I love Katara so much after this. Damn, what if the Avatar abandoned their duties? Korra isnt blood and guts but a bit more mature. I hope Netflix does some awesome blood and guts but if they did a lot of children wouldnt watch so I wonder what they'll do.

SuperCookieGaming

while this episode is about forgiveness its also about the banality of evil. this video explains it very well https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N9ipWXQwhnY&feature=emb_title

Anonymous

Also if you freeze you see that it was Katara who caught Zuko and pulled him into Appa's Saddle when he fell. A lot of people don't notice that!

Skebaba

Fucking Hama ruining everything for Water Benders, because of the new policy of "no prisoners" in regards to them, smh...

CRuEL_WOrlD

I never understood this episode nd i dnt think i ever will. How is just letting the man go delivering justice, he killed ur mother nd shows no remorse just acts pathetic nd is ready to trade his own mother instead of his life🤦🏼‍♂️. Atleast the fire lord suffers in prison wit no bending but this guy just gets to live his daily life coz gud ppl wanna be forgiving for no reason.

Randle Dandle

His daily life is fuckin miserable bruh. The only reason he killed Katara's mom was that he was a piece of shit with an ounce of power, and if he still had that ounce there may have been reason to kill him. That was not the case though, dude rots away living with his mom. Katara killing him would have at least given him the dignity of his past power being relevant. A good example of this concept is Whoreson Junior from the Witcher 3, some people are just pieces of shit not even worth killing.

CJ Dennis

To be fair, Aang did find another way to defeat the firelord while sticking to his principles.

CJ Dennis

I don't think this episode is saying that it was right or wrong for her not to forgive at the end, but rather that it's just how she feels at the moment. Simmilar to her saying that Aang and Sokka didn't understand her, though I agree that it was insensitive for her to say that.

Lamaree Jackson

I wonder who the spy was that snitched on Katara. It was already a rundown village by then. No one going in and out.

James Ancester

good catch, that's crazy, whoever did that might've still lived there and never got found out

Lamaree Jackson

Yeah the fire nation probably left spies around the time of Hama’s raids. Infiltrators dressed like water tribe. Everyone would’ve been so distraught from losing so many, anyone left would immediately be family. Even if unrecognized

Koria Hayes

I was cringing so much towards the end of their thoughts on the episode 🤣🤣🤣
