Tbh it's a bold but at the same time great choice in terms of writing in my opinion. Showing that sometimes, hard work isn't enough, that there's sometimes walls that are too high for "the power of friendship" to climb. It's one thing I find tiresome about a lot of shows is that someone who is hyped up to be truly powerful can never be that powerful since you know that at some point the MC's gotta overtake them. Basically a great thing about HxH in my opinion that its world does not revolve around Gon. He is a cool character within the world, but he's not "the chosen one" that the world all knows about and who is destined to reclaim the lands or something like that and so all the drama in the world has to unfold about him.

Madara is legitimately a case study on how not to write an antagonist. They amped him to such OP proportions that they had no answer for it, and it broke the bounds of the show and storyline irreparably. Cool for a while? Definitely. Well written? Hell nah, lol.

Aye, there's no shame in that homie. I was also in my early twenties when I first saw this. Now I'm thirty and i feel the same way. I wouldn't say you've gotten softer, more like you've gotten a greater appreciation of human life. Now that you've gained that extra decade or so of experience, you can greater appreciate all the experiences that that child will be unable to have. Yes yes, fictional character and all, but from a story perspective. Just means you've gotten wiser, my dude.

This is rough to put your kid through. Gon is so broken up because he feels like he's letting his dad down EPICALLY. He's just trying to be good enough to see his pops. Always hits hard.
