Regarding the scene with Aegon and Helaena, I don’t think this scene showed Aegon blaming her. He grieves in his own way and I think he even wanted to comfort her, but he doesn’t have the tools to do so. Alicent never comforted him, which we see at the end of the episode, so he never learned how to do it.

The Greens are kind of tragic to me. Allicent wanted to confide in some pain she's been in over her actions to Otto, but he promptly rejected her that kind of closeness. Allicent then witness Aegon in pieces over his son, and whether due to her disgust of him or her still hurting at being rebuffed by Otto, she is incapable of giving him comfort. Allicent then lashes out at Christen as if releasing her pent up anger at it all, hating he can presume to invite himself into her chambers, hating that she has allowed it. Until she gives in as if surrendering herself to her desires - smothering her truest feelings away with more sin. That's at least how I interpreted the final couple of minutes. No one can ever convince me that Allicent isn't the most sympathetic character in this show.

If you notice the tapestry that Helena gave to Allison for her son's funeral, it's the same one she was making last episode when she talked about her vision of rats in their midst. She subconsciously knew that she needed to make something for her son's funeral, but she didn't know why, when, or how it would happen. She must have been making it for months. Her prophetic dreams truly seem like a curse, I felt so much for her character this episode. She deserves to just fly away on her dragon and leave this whole world behind.

2024-06-25 01:22:48 I interpreted Otto’s refusal to hear Alicent’s confession differently- I think he already knew. Sir foot fetish knows for sure and I feel like it’s gotta be an “open secret” sooner rather than later. There are just too many servants running around the red keep. Her sons are too busy being ignorant warmongers to realize what’s going on but I think Otto clocked it. That last scene was kinda brilliant with no words. It said everything we needed to know- she was mad but they ain’t gonna stop fing any time soon.

Daemon didn’t really do anything wrong. It’s unfortunate that Helaena had to be the one to suffer, but they had already lost one, score board had to be evened and he tried to get Aemond. Rhaenyra wants to be delusional and sit on her hands but the war started as soon as Aegon put that crown on his head. There’s no version of this that ends peacefully. Either her kids end up hostages their entire lives and even then maybe her and certainly Daemon would still be killed. I read the books so I’m what happens. But show wise Rhaenyra better smarten tf up because without Daemon she is D-O-N-E fucked.

He may not want the throne itself (anymore; he was clearly upset when told by viserys that he was no longer gonna be heir) but he craves all of the control, which I think isn't much better. I think that's the accusation. He has no respect for the crown's authority since he's not the one wearing it. And there's a little bit of jealousy there established last season when him learning about the song of ice and fire, a special royal secret he'd been kept out of, triggered him into choking Rhaenyra.

I think the reason Aegon was crying in the end has a little to do with grief and a lot to do with learning from Otto in his previous scene that his father might not have actually named him heir in his dying breath like he was told, which destroys the sense of entitlement and power and will to live that this notion gave him in episode 9 when his mom showed him the dagger and shit.

Until being constantly opposed by the greens (and wanting to have a sex life and true-born children) drove her to fake Laenor's death and marry Daemon. "I cannot face the greens alone." The kids thought the Dragon belonged to them.. cause of Nepotism I guess, but people have said that Dragons don't automatically belong to anyone, because of the Magic/Fate stuff. So Aemond finally gets a Dragon by putting his life on the line and going out to tame that huge scary looking Dragon, Vhagar, but Rhaenyra's kids attack him like a pack of wild animals for taming Vhagar. To me Aemond seemed like he just wanted to be left alone but they kept attacking him and he did justifiably hate them for treating him like shit, so he wanted to threaten them with the rock, not cause any harm.. but they stab his eye out and none of them get punished. So again that event, along with being bullied for so long, added to Aemond having this Darkness around him, but even then what does he do? Like people blame him for killing the kid when the kid's Dragon went out of control and attacked Aemond's Dragon, so Vhagar immediately destroyed the tiny Dragon in response, but unfortunately the kid riding on it died with it. I can see that Aemond looks intimidating.. but the fact is that he has received a lot more pain/suffering than he has intentionally caused, Aemond was bullied all his life and he finally became a badass with a huge dragon and people hate him for it, lol. I just don't think he deserves all that hate, at least not from what he has done so far, because it was not intentional, lol.
