They said in episode one, Sage wants to help Homelander so she can play out her ideas on a national/global scale. She’s smart but didn’t seem super motivated at first (all she did was read and eat Taco Bell lmao) and Homelander is giving her the resources to use her smarts to shape the world (and put herself in a position of power in said new world). Maybe that’s a play within a play and she’s got more going on, but we shall see.

Feels like a bit of lazy writing since making Ryan a small villain with Butcher being that nicer dad martyr trying to get him back in 6 months was too complicated for the writers… My theory was that butcher would die earlier in the season whilst ryan was going down a bad road, which leads to ryan having to choose between butcher and his wife’s path, or homelander’s path or some crap.
