Hey Everyone!

We want to give a quick update on what we’ve been working on recently. As you may be aware, iOS 17 and macOS Sonoma changed some things AltStore relies on to work properly. Thankfully, these issues are all fixable, and while we plan to have updates available soon, this is where we currently stand:

First, iOS 17 changed the “developer disk” process used by libimobiledevice to communicate with iOS devices over WiFi. AltServer uses libimobiledevice to enable JIT, which is why AltJIT is not yet supported. The good news is the open-source community has already reverse-engineered a fix, and we’ll release an update to AltServer once it’s implemented.

As for AltServer’s Mail plug-in, we’ve confirmed with Apple that Mail plug-ins will not be supported on macOS Sonoma. However, we have discovered a new workaround that we plan to release closer to Sonoma’s public release, but in the meantime you can disable SIP to continue using AltStore by following these instructions: https://twitter.com/altstoreio/status/1666173037732044801?s=20

Please be aware that disabling SIP removes important security protections and should be used with caution. We recommend waiting to update for this reason.

Because these fixes won’t be ready until later in Apple’s beta cycle, we decided to work on some much needed fixes for Delta in the meantime — primarily related to iOS 17 compatibility and Delta Sync. This should address many of the most commonly reported sync errors, and we hope to have a beta ready in the next couple weeks.

Thanks for your patience while we work on these fixes, and if you have any other questions please leave a comment!

Best,

Riley + Shane

What’s the time frame of Altserver regaining full functionality on ios17??

Mike Morin

Also, wtf happened to Apple enabling sideloading in iOS 17? Was that another BS rumor??

Guy from EU here, asking myself the same question. It's not a rumour that they have to do it, but when?

Mike Morin

So when will Apple implement it? I’m in the U.S. patiently waiting.

Anonymous

They are required to implement it, but not until March 2024 and only in the EU. Will probably be introduced in a later iOS 17 minor version. Hope this helps!

Us United Statesians will not get that feature, without a doubt, since it is a software feature and not hardware. I am willing to bet only the EU will have it.

I dunno, enough outrage could get them to budge; something similar happened with AirDrop Everyone's new time limit in a 16.x update was pushed out in China first, pretty conspicuously as there were protests being organized on Airdrop in Taiwan at the time. Picked up traction on news sites and social media and Apple announced that it was just a regional rollout schedule, to be worldwide a few days after. Kinda worked against the userbase in that case but still, there's precedent

Hey guys will I be able to install Altstore on the iPhone 15 PM?
