Delta 1.3 Release Candidate - Sega Genesis support (Patreon)
Content
It's been a long time coming, but I'm proud to announce Delta 1.3 Release Candidate is now available 🥳 This is by far the biggest update to Delta yet; Delta 1.3 will finally bring support for playing DS games to everyone, in addition to a bunch of other features, improvements, and bug fixes. This release candidate (+ the previous beta released a few weeks ago) focuses on polishing up all the remaining rough edges, as well as laying the foundation for the next Delta console: Sega Genesis 🎉
WHAT'S NEW
👾 Initial Sega Genesis support. Now that Nintendo DS support is just about finished, it's time to begin working on the next console! Based on Genesis Plus GX, Delta's Genesis core supports save states and fast forwarding (cheats will come later), and includes a beautiful controller skin designed by Chris Rittenhouse in the meantime while we continue to work on the official Genesis skin.
🎮 Updated DS controller skin with bigger buttons. We've redesigned the DS skin so that the D-Pad and ABYX buttons are now the same size as Delta's other skins, rather than being slightly smaller. This should make them much easier to press, and also reduce the number of accidental button presses.
🖼 Support for custom game artwork with transparent backgrounds. Previously, Delta would ignore the alpha channel when choosing custom game artwork, which meant any transparency in the image would appear black. Now, artwork with transparency will display as expected, allowing you to use other shapes for game artwork besides just squares and rectangles (including rounded corners!).
🔄 Fixes some erroneous "Sync Failed" alerts. Sometimes Delta will display a "Sync Failed" alert even when nothing actually went wrong when syncing. I'm still investigating the underlying issue, but this update should at least fix some situations where that might occur.
⏰ Fixes broken Real Time Clock for some GBA games. A much requested bug fix, Delta now supports the GBA Real Time Clock (RTC) for all games — including Pokémon hacks.
Assuming everything goes well, I plan to release the final 1.3 update to everyone in the next couple of weeks! However, there are some features that will remain limited to beta versions for now:
• Sega Genesis support
• DSi support (still some kinks I need to work out before it's ready for public release)
• DeSmuME core (deprecated, but keeping it in the beta so people who used it previously can continue using their save states)
As always, thank you for all your feedback regarding Delta 1.3! This update would not be nearly as polished without all the bug reports I've received, and I'm beyond excited to finally release it so everyone can relive their favorite DS games again 😄
