Just to mention a couple of things, yes in a way the way the King decided to give his apology was a bit over the top. But to him it was the only way in his mind that he could make up for attempting to use such petty tactics to get a leg up on the girl. (oh ya you haven't been told her name yet, so don't worry, you didn't forget it) But anyway I understand that you feel he reacted out of anger, but I think for him it was more because he has respect for the girls skill. And resorting to petty tactics outside of the game to try and beat her should be beneath him. I didn't word all that as well as I would like but hopefully it makes some sense. The aura the Knov encountered wasn't Pitous, it was Poufs. So from that we can surmise that either Poufs aura is even more sinister than Pitous or of course vice versa, Pitous is even worse yet Knovs will, was still rattled. (sidenote: the other royal guard is referred to as Youpi) (and please don't put yourself down for not remembering , it's super easy to not think about it in the moment. There's a lot going on and this is in reality a small detail, I just wanted to remind ya)

I swear to god: If they get in trouble because Knov thought of getting rid of the body but forgot to get rid of his own shoes, I'll be so pissed xD!

Diego Zenhäusern

Thanks for clarifying that! I too though it was Pitous aura because the episode kinda implied that... Also: See Knov freak out like that really got me😮!

I think it really shows that all of them understand how much is at stake if they're top priority isn't to survive, but to die before the enemy can capture them 🤔😮!

"I wish for your arm, bitch" - wow you actually called what would fluster the King. He's a king, THE King, as well as dirty tricks being beneath him, his word is his bond. So the fact that he inadvertently offered her the chance to wish for his death meant that losing an arm was really nothing compared to that. Can you imagine if she wished for his death with the win, then won, and then he was left looking stupid? He might even have accepted that wish, his pride is so absolute. So not only did he try a dirty trick that could have cost him his pride or his life (if he would have been too prideful to deny her his life), he completely underestimated her in her response. Being both angry at himself, having done something beneath his position, and impressed by her, taking his own arm as apology was probably the least he could conceive of doing. I rambled a bit, because the workings of his character and personality are so subtle but *so absolute* and so fascinating. (Her's too.)

JD

Her and the King are the most fascinating character dynamic I've ever seen in any story.

JD

Remember that her coming from a family of 12 and Gungi being the only thing she can do (she couldn't work or farm, she'd have to be provided for), this is also within the context of a country modelled after North Korea, so she comes from a far more harsh life than any of us know.

JD

He didn't think she was going to ask for his life, he just realised, when he saw her commitment, that she could have done. So his trick to throw her off revealed she was actually far more committed and serious than he was. ALSO, how insane is it that he smacked Pouf into a wall with a flick of his tail FROM A SITTING POSITION 🤯 (sorry for my usual comment spam)

JD

I would not say the King is really moved by anger, I don't think anger is behind most of his violence. I'd say he just has an uncompromising sense of pride. I'd say her refusing to continue the match was the first time he'd expressed real anger, and I might rather call it frustration. He's never lost composure, like he hasn't moved apart from his tail. He didn't even get up, he just told Pouf off for insisting he embarrass himself by going against his word.

Ok Great

Knov definitely regrets talking all that shit to Killua for not fighting Pitou.

TheBagSenpai

There's a popular fan theory that Komugi betting her life in each game is her nen covenant, allowing her abilities to be enhanced to preposterous levels.

Kman

yeah but many forget that knov in order to stay hidden was under zetsu and was completely naked to the aura assult. If we remember right about what wing said that it could even kill you without any aura to defend yourslef. I know though that knov underestimated the boys but I still cant compare the aura attack as the same since gon and killua was shielded to a certain degree.
