To your question early on. I think Hunter X Hunter in general has the most human characters in anime. Someone could find an interest in someone and be genuinely friendly with them, but at the same time be cold and completely disregard other people just because they don’t catch their eye for whatever reason

yes killua is being genuinely nice to gon

Killua is (at least up to that point, didn't watch the anime very far myself) a pretty interesting character; I think he really likes Gon & goofing off with him (like raiding the kitchen for some food), but through his upbringing doesn't seem to have any regard for the life of people he doesn't personally care about - when he killed the 2 dudes on the airship, it was simply because they annoyed him in the wrong moment when he was already pissed, like swatting a fly, like it was natural to him and he didn't think anything of it afterwards, not even hiding the bodies or anything. Gon is also competive & kinda talented, but he's way more innocent about it & less ruthless. EDIT: by the way, I hope your headace is getting better soon

Hunter x Hunter describes human nature in the most brutally honest way possible, every single antagonist in the series was so well wrriten as well

28:55 Hmm, interessting, to me it didn't sound like Killua's familly wanted him to do something horrible and he left because of that, but simply that he just wanted to rebel for the sake of it and therefore left....especially since he killed those two guys without even thinking twice or showing any emotion so I don't know what could have been so bad to make him leave... 47:20 Ok, so I totally assumed, that it was going to be Hisoka...but thinking about it Tonpa makes way more sense to be in their group in a challenge like this xD So I have to say, at the end I was actually somewhat disappointed in Tonpa, for not realizing how he could have fucked over his whole group (and by extension I was dissapointed in the other 4 for not realizing it) xD: If he had just gone into the fight and told his opponent: "So, let's just sit here and wait like 70 hours, and I'll just give up 5 min before our time's up so it won't be a draw" his group would have lost the whole third task, because no one could have interfered with the duel and there would only have been that one fight. So when Tonpa was begging to be first, I assumed it was for that reason and the whole time I basically screamed at all of the others not to fall for this trick and only let him go last, since he'll obviously try to fail them as soon as he gets to fight xD
